Which is still dirt cheap when you consider it's €6.50 for 24hrs or €20 for for the week. For €6.50 you'd only get 6 and a half hours of on street parking through the app which also makes parking dirt cheap.

Would you even get a coffee and scone for €6.50? Think anyone complaining about that just want to complain for the sake of complaining.

It's totally in people's heads what they call "town" and not town and the fact you have to cross a bridge makes it "miles away". It's like how people are willing to walk way further from car to shop door inside The Crescent than the city centre because their brain says its not the same.

As for Colbert station I wonder are all the Irish Rail carparks outsourced to someone who then sets the price. Ideally there would be a validation system but again it's probably not Irish Rail's call.

When I was working in the city one summer I used the euro car parks at charlottes quay, it was €13 for the week back then, not sure what it is now, I'd imagine closer to €20 as that was a long time ago but €20/week works out at less than €3 a day - and you have access on Saturdays

I think the general acceptance is that 'town' is roughly described as Cruises street to Thomas street and everything in between. By that logic the centrepoint is roughly at Todds (I refuse to call it Brown Thomas)

A quick google maps distance function says 463m from there to the strand, about 50m further than it is from the new Aldi… Not much in it really…

Their car parks all seem to be run by APCOA from my limited experiences but whether they or Irish Rail set the prices or not I couldn't be sure

    V94 WK00

It's in that little shed that I assume used to be a shop. I saw it on a Limerick.ie Instagram post so I can't share the photo.

They also mentioned Spice Villa in Raheen which looks like a Nando's style place and Tim's Table who are in the Milk Market now have a shop in Ballysimon.

Work going on in three vacant premises on Thomas Street at the moment. The former Euro Store between L'Occitane and Brown Thomas, the former Nom Treats unit and the long vacant premises between Coqbull and Sambros.

The former Habit coffee at the corner with Catherine Street looks like it may have been let also.

    Also Mortells on Roches St.

Lots of rumours that Nom is the Still House.

Expanding their offering, or vacating their current premises?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89 ✭✭Luker

Not sure, I asked one of the guys that was clearing it out what was going on and he said rift coffee

Interesting. On one hand it shows the difficulties once again of getting outside investment and occupiers into the city centre. But in fairness to Rift, they've built up a strong business, expanding their premises and their offering on Mallow Street over the last number of years.

It'll be interesting to see what they have in store for the Thomas Street/Catherine Street corner. It's a great spot for them in a highly visible unit and a high footfall area with plenty of scope for outdoor seating.

They just renovated the mallow street place and it's almost always busy from what I see so I couldn't see them leaving there.

Whoever it is you can't do much more than coffee there unless it's somewhere like Rift who can bus down some premade pastries and sandwiches.

It looked like the busiest coffee shop in town when it was Habit so the site is clearly a winner if run by a competent business.

More a reopening than an opening, but the Inver on the Old Cork Road has reopened to sell fuel. The pumps are self service and open 24/7, however the shop is still closed.

I wonder if they’ll get a shipping container in the interim to sell milk, bread etc or if it’s even worth their while?

A few Statoils/Topaz/Circle Ks did this in the past when stores were being renovated.

The old Card Factory on Thomas St. is going to be "Trendy". I assume it's going to be clothes or something fashion related.

Anyone know what's going on at tourist office in Arthur's quay park? Saw a tik tok of work going on

Bobby Byrne's coffee dock is now open in the mornings where they used to have the shop at the side. Serving coffee, pastries, acai bowls and burritos from 8am. Handy for anyone in the South Circular Rd/O'Connell Ave area as there was previously nowhere that end of town to get a coffee in the morning before hitting the city centre.

Is the coffee the average pub stuff or proper modern batista ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭keane10

Proper barista… they're using Keith Earls' Eleven14 Coffee. Very good stuff!

New restaurant gone into the old Bella Italia unit in Ballinacurra called Saigon Corner

Seems to be a Chinese takeaway judging by their offering on Just Eat.

With a name such as Saigon corner, I hope they offer more than Chinese food.
