The standard of officiating in Cork at a high level is atrocious! Watched the games on clubber and two ridiculous calls for red cards! The funniest part was Tommy Walsh for Kanturk gets a straight red after the handbags with Alan Connolly and Connolly doesn’t even get a speaking to. If someone here doesn’t think that city clubs get the big calls then you’re obviously from a city club! The only games I’ve watched over the years that have been officiated fairly have been when clubs from outside the city play each other! And plus this in turn I think has made the Cork senior team soft!

Coming from Waterford I know a thing or two about famines. It really comes down to a lack of mental toughness and players thinking they are better than they are. If you look at how Ger Loughnane and how he transformed that Clare team in 1995. They were literally breaking the hinges of the doors coming out for matches he had them like men possessed. It was incredible to watch at the time, but its something like that you need to do but i don't know if that's possible any more players need to be mollycoddled now.

Really good game I watched today between Midleton and Newtownahandrum , Tim o Mahoney should be corks new free taker he is unbelievable from long range, his last point was from the sideline about 75 yards out

Midleton must be one of the favourites to at least make the final this year , the draw went against them last year and had to play imokilly in the semis

If they had the other side of the draw they could be Munster champions now, the have some talent in that group though, Cormac Beausang might lack intercounty pace but is brilliant at this level Alex qurke in midfield, Paul Connaughton are quality players and not to mention Lehane , they will be there abouts at the end of the year

The other game I watched was Charleville v newcestown , charleville should be nowhere near a relegation playoff with the weapons they have especially the o Flynn's and fitsgibbon

Newcestown looking ominous with what looks like a toothless forward line bar Richard O'Sullivan and Colm dineen

Wayne king is an excellent referee, he was up here for a few years before going back down to cork again, he lets a lot go which frustrates a lot of supporters though

Interesting point about mental toughness. That Clare team back in ’95 really came out fighting every game like it was war. Maybe that kind of fire is what’s missing nowadays.

Interestingly Clare seem to have held onto that mental toughness and belief long after the Loughnane era. They have added 2 All Irelands since, despite not really challenging for All Irelands on a consistent basis, they have over achieved when compared to other counties with similar or more talent in that time.

Footballers need a change as much as the hurlers and yet the staus quo remains.

The CCB just couldn't give a shite about football. That much is blatantly obvious at this stage. Of course whether the players are there or not is another thing entirely, but another couple of years worth of mediocrity awaits us sadly. With this reappointment failure and mediocrity has been duly rewarded.

Let's just call a spade a spade here the county board is still a joke shop and a shambles. Tactically we're behind the curve in both mens senior codes.

Pat Ryan and the rest of his management team don't have a plan B for when plan A fails and they are unable to make the correct changes in time when a game is going against us. A lot of those players have lost three all Ireland finals in the last four years now, and two of them were lost in a very dismal manner.

We aren't entitled to success just because we won a lot of all Irelands in the past. They have to be earned. We just haven't been producing the high performance environment required to win all Irelands in hurling since 2005 and likewise since 2010 in the football.

was there any update on Pat Ryan??

I actually thought Pat Ryan would step aside. Can’t imagine much of a change in squad personnel if same management is there

Cork GAA is goosed for at least 10 years, we are winning nothing in either code going forward if the same appointments are made in both football and hurling. We are a laughing stock.

Cork Camogie name the same team for the final against Galway that played against Waterford in the Semis.

    CORK: A Lee; P Mackey, L Coppinger, M Cahalane (Capt); A Healy, L Treacy, L Hayes; H Looney, A Thompson; E Murphy, O Cahalane, S McCarthy; K Mackey, S McCartan, A O'Connor.

Clodagh Finn has recovered from her knee injury that kept her out of the Waterford game and Orlaith Mullins who got 1-2 as a sub last day out are both on the bench .

to be fair i wasnt having a go at corks mentality as such , its just the hype both nationally and within the county in my opinion was too much on the day , and if you ever needed your sports phycologist more , it was from 5pm saturday evening when the team bus hit dublin to 1pm the next day before that bus leaves for croke park

gary keagen was on tour with the lions in australia and communicating to the team through video messages, when they needed him most he wasn't there

clare were all fire in 1995 but if they had lost that day they would have been heros in the county like the football team getting to the semi final 3 years beforehand as it was uncharted lad at the time for us , this was different though on cork , i never seen anything like it ,it was too much pressure for an amature team to take on

heading up to the camogie tomorrow - very excited. Hopefully a good crowd for it. 3 in a row would be some achievement

Great ball in for the pen, no real power in it though.

As with the semi final, Cork are slow to get going. Galway playing well and with 5 point lead should win from this position against 14 with Hannah Looney sent off.

Cork need goals and the penalty miss is going to haunt them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,862 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Again in the womens game, anoher very poor referee. Saoirse McCarthy being fouled every time she gets the ball but nothing given. Cahalane was taken out completely at one point and nothing given. A blatant push in the back on our goalkeeper and Galway get a point when they should really had a goal. Cork being frustrated by the fouls and then Looney lashes out and down to 14 now. In fairness Galway are playing well though. The penalty was hit very poorly.

Now it will be incredibly hard to turn this around.

As Ursula said, Galway getting the decisions (and more) they didn't get last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,891 ✭✭✭corcaigh07

Some flop from the Galway player to ensure the red!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,268 ✭✭✭Iscreamkone

I thought the foul for the penalty warranted a red card for the Galway defender.

Great Second half by Cork, did everything they could.

    Showed real heart and determination.

The push on the Cork keeper, the most blatant foul and Galway scored a point from it. In a tight game decisions like that can make the difference.
