The original is one of the best films ever made, don't know what to make of this.

Trailer does not look great, have any of these very belated sequels been worth the effort?

Top Gun Maverick is the standout. Comedies have fared less well though.

I’m hoping that this focuses less on the absurdity of the band itself, and more on the absurdity of the promotion/production machine around cynically resurrecting a band. Like, it could be used really well to satirically poke fun at all these belated and unwanted sequel cash grabs.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I thought it looks pretty funny. What cult films like this, it's going to be impossible to live up the expectations of the fan base with a sequel. On the other hand, a lot of those people will still watch it, so there is money to be made.

From a logic point of view, the idea of a band doing a behind-the-scenes doc of their farewell show makes all the sense in the world. It's nearly a prerequisite in today's day and age to do something like that.

With Happy Gilmore 2 being a relative success, I think the world is going to have to prepare for an onslaught of these 'legacy' sequels. Nobody has to watch them, but a lot of people almost certain will. I wonder what we'll get in coming years?

I think the trailer is good.

Saw the original many years ago though it was very very funny I wouldn't be too precious about its memory/legacy.

Happy to take this new one on its own merits.

I hate that Paul McCartney and Elton are in it playing along with the joke. They should have been stuck in a lift with Tap, not knowing who they are, or something like that. Some meh UK comedy actors in supporting roles too. However, I think the chemistry of the leads is so good that there are bound to be some laughs - Nigel the cheese maker looks especially appealing. Also Artie Fufkin is coming back!

Seems the way around it is to flood the movie with cameos. Like in HG 2

Lots of old rock stars with funny anecdotes about the band from back in the day would be good.

Alice Cooper for one, he hated the movie when it first came out because he thought it was based on him. 😂
