Are you the person the little electric shuttle bus left behind?

I heard one of the women who drove it complain about the other driver that she left a man on crutches behind.

I saw plenty of young people ie teens and early 20s with chairs this year. In fact as a whole there were way more younger demo this year than 2023-24.

The chair thing didn't bother me as much this year as last. Last year was far worse with a million chairs all up at front of Village Stage when 5k people are trying to see McGowan tribute or Undertones, for most part people got message this year about chairs in the tent and stayed outside or just on edge

Especially when some of the tubby little f.ckers need all the exercise they can get.

One side effect of the compact site was that I only walked 40Km over the weekend, EP last year was over 65Km for the 3 days.

Fantastic weekend, very well organised, could do with a few improvements which they will hopefully take on board and put in place for next year. Weather was fantastic, goldilocks like!

I wonder could they attract a band like The National for next year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 94 ✭✭KawaKris

I'd say 95% wouldn't have a clue who The National were tbh 😃.

yeah. It will be more 90’s early 2000’s nostalgia.
the national won’t go near nostalgia fests

Ah now, age profile wise I'd said a huge chunk would know them.

It's a great idea to have the headliners not finish the night as it gives the families a chance to see them then get the kids off to bed if needs be. My gang couldn't go on after FF on friday night but stayed up for all of the manics and were wanting more after Qween finished on Sunday.

I thought the app was great, actual live stage times would be a great update and maybe band info when you like on the name would be handy for those who know nothing about them.

Highlights for me in no particular order were

    Walk the Line

    Aoife Destruction and the Nillz

    These Charming Men

    Franz Ferdinand

    Billy Bragg

    Qween

On the topic of future FFs realistic performers...

I hope they bring back James and Suede because they deserve better than playing at 1am in the pissing rain and mud up to your knees.

Waterboys headlined first festival in 2022 and one of the few acts in that card not to return since.

Texas and Supergrass were strongly rumoured for this year before lineup was announced just like Travis were in 2024 and appeared a year later so very likely both will appear in 2026.

After that looking at likes of Faithless, Busted, Saw Doctors, Picturehouse, Lightning Seeds, Crowded House, Keane, Darkness, Mary Wallopers, Feeder, Blonde, Echo and the Bunnymen, Madness, Paul Heaton (basically anyone who wasn't a tippy top headliner at Isle of Wight since 2022).

Cast, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Elbow are bands very similar to headliners we saw this year.

And of course the acts who played Forever Young but haven't yet played FF ie Katrina and the Waves, Bonnie Tyler, Boomtown Rats, Bananarama

I was walking behind people on Saturday saying it was very busy they sold too many day tickets but I didn't feel it was too crowded, toilets, bars, food stalls never had big queues.

Also the scheduling of bands to stages was off with some being packed and 5/10 deep outside.

These location changes might produce a better flow to the site.

    Fleadh stage → Funfair

    Toilets → Fleadh stage

    Funfair → Toilets

There were a few too many occasions when there was nobody on in multiple stages at once which made bar queues briefly quite bad; particularly the two non Heineken bars

Now, had the main stage run to time, that would have been much reduced.

sound bleed would kill the fleadh

toilets on a mild slope are good, the multiple inches deep pisswater mud from 2024 2023 was not pleasant.

    Funfair needs flat ground.

Philip said Robert Finley was his top act of the weekend; I'd not heard of him at all but deffo have now!

Ah I loved the Fleadh stage exactly where it was. That was a lovely little oasis of calm, grab a burrito and a pint of Wicklow Wolf and have a sit down in front of some class musicians.

bad juju between bass man and band leader, bass man blame band leader but harbour ill will to silent pair who side with band leader.

bit of a pricks all round situation in that band.

I'd checked him out beforehand and they were on my list. Turned out to be way better than I'd anticipated.

Band leader not care about bass man for most songs. Band leader dead 45 years.

Bass man every right to play.

Hook wanted New Order to stick to their Joy Division roots a bit more but Sumner wanted more dance, synth vibe to the band. Hook left. Sumner not happy with Hook's performance of New Order songs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,733 ✭✭✭✭L1011

I believe a personality clash is a far, far bigger reason.

Hook has no issue performing much more electronic tracks, and recorded eerily similar ones with a soundalike vocalist as Monaco (said vocalist is also in The Light).

the main dispute was actually over touring. Hooky loves being on the road/tour and was always pushing the band to do more and more tours. Bernard, Stephen and Gillian aren’t into the touring slog anymore. They do small enough European and USA runs/festivals every other year and that keeps them happy
