Being able to go back to the start of a show helps a bit but I really need some form of 'on demand' to sync with my work schedule. Like you say podcasts are a very patchy version of that. One of of my favourite shows for background, Radio 3's Early Music, has a podcast but they've apparently only uploaded 7 from this year, seemingly with the music cut out of most, which is kind of pointless…

VPN required for them all bar C4.

Live C4 won’t play without a VPN though, just the box sets etc in Ireland.

my situation with BBC sounds is that it only works now when in the car connected to Apple Car Play. I can only use all the main BBC radio stations and any podcasts etc. the phone itself still says app not available etc so I cannot select any local bbc channels etc to play in the car.

Doesn’t really bother me though tbh as stations are available on other app anyway. Any sport can be listened to via new app.

When I open BBC Sounds on iphone, the app starts as normal for a second or two, then the message comes up about it not being available outside the UK, etc.. But if I press play just as the app is starting, it plays 6Music(the last station I would have listened to) as normal. Not ideal but still..

Does tunein(free) have a listen back feature? I'll miss Radcliffe and Maconie 😔

I used a VPN about 2 weeks ago and it's still working perfectly for me

They said that for UK users who went abroad on holiday, Sounds would continue to work for about a month… so I'm guessing that by doing that you reset your clock and it thinks you are on a holiday.

BBC sounds still works on Alexa. I’ve had it enabled for years.

Sports rights have always been blocked usually it's part of the terms and conditions of them getting the rights on the first place. The whole point of this thread was that the BBC were going to lock almost all of their radio content both live and playback behind a Geoblock.

    This too shall pass.

The latest from James Cridland. Doesn't add anything new, except his opinion on the way the BBC are doing things. The link to the Feedback podcast from July 11 has an Irish advertisement for Guinness when I opened it. And on my PC it does not allow me to forward through the audio which is annoying.

Out the back listening to Radio 2 from Saturday with a nice beer and me Google nest.

VPN is the way forward and I got it from a certain store that has to be left unnamed unfortunately.

My Apple App for Sounds finally gave up the ghost today. VPN doesn't allow access either.

Funny thing is that it works through my Apple carplay, so doesn't really affect me.

    Came across this on Reddit:

Louise la Grange, SVP, BBC Audio, Digital News & Streaming BBC Studios (beware execs bearing 11 word titles) last night told listeners to the World Service feedback programme Over to You, that 'catch up' would arrive for World Service and Radio 4 abroad in a matter of weeks.

I wonder if some developer will be able to come up with a fork of this app, like has been done with other android apps?

You would imagine the restriction is most likely server side based. So not sure a hacked app would be any good. If it could be done in the first place.

Still working fine for me on Android.

I do wonder if my latest iPhone update was the death of it for me.

Still works in the Car or through the Sounds website, just not on the App.
