Attempted to tune in just now for Craig Charles funk and Soul show and its gone 😭😭😭

I have been making dinner with the kiddies to his soundtrack on Saturdays since they were born......workarounds welcome please!!

Yes, there is. No need for 'cheeky' live feeds you can just use the official live streams

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live/bbc_6music

for an overview see here (scroll down for links to all the radio station live streams)

    https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20250207-bbc-podcasts-are-now-available-on-the-bbc-website-and-app

the issue is with apps and/or integration and non-live/on-demand stuff - or lack of I should say

bbc sounds app is gone, but tunein app still works and if bbc sticks to what they said this will remain so

Streams from the old 6 music website, BBC.com, liveradio.ie or tunein didn't work for me today

Stream from above and tunein working for me, Irish location, no vpn. strange

BBC Ulster and BBC Foyle both work on tunein for me but they both kept buffering like mad this week. Almost unlistenable.

On Android, is there any way to stop the app updating automatically or is that a system setting (ie applies to all apps or none)

The BBC.com links are working for Six Music today, for me....exact same setup from Saturday. Teething issues I guess....maybe they weren't prepared for how many people would want to access the streams.

Why is there so much reliance on BBC Sounds ? There are numerous apps available ( to download in Ireland), that give access to the BBC stations, there is one in particular called Radio UK, that gives access to every radio station in the UK, whether they are fm, dab, online only etc. There must be a thousand stations on it, but you can pick your favourites and add them to your own favourites list. It also has a bucket loads of podcasts, though I'm not into podcasts myself, so not sure which ones are available.

Because if you wanted playback on the BBC radio programmes you liked, some of which air at awkward times most of them are on BBC Sounds only. For some people that's Radio 6 music programmes, for me it is Radio 3 music programmes and scripted comedy \ book adaptations \ abridged readings from Radio 4 and Radio 4 extra.

The podcast selection on the new BBC app is very limited.
And the scripted stuff from R4\R4E is not so easy to find elsewhere especially abridged stuff.

Yeah, just go into the app settings in the store and turn off automatic updates. I've done it to my version months ago when this was first mooted.

mine stopped working again today some time mid-morning. TuneIn app states BBC6 is not available in my region.

EDIT: Deleted the app and playing https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live/bbc_6music from browser.

In Sept I installed an apk that was posted a few pages back. Worked for about 6 weeks before stopping this morning.

Deleted the app, turned on my vpn and installed the apk again. It prompted me to update the app and brought me to the play store. Updated and working again.

I had the same issue with that apk. I didnt reinstall it. The app worked again just by turning the VPN on for a second and it hasn't needed a VPN since and wont until whatever length of time it takes for the BBC to say I'm abroad too long.

I’m receiving all BBC channels on a Denon hifi receiver via the HEOS app.

When working on my computer, I listen to all channels simply via the live .co.uk link.

What I’m missing is access to old broadcasts which were easily found via BBC Sounds. Especially Radio4, which is my go-to station.

Finally got around to it and it worked. Have BBC Sounds app back and amazingly its working too.

Dunno why I never spotted the 'None' payments method option, lazy I guess.

Surprisingly enough AppStore did its nightly app updates last night and BBC Sounds is still there. I'll be happy enough with livestream from TuneIn and thats there to stay (for now) but I'll take the Sounds app as long as it lasts.

    Thanks!

Why isn’t the Sounds app detecting your ex-UK location from your IP address and not working?

    Thanks. D.

Who knows since thats an implementation question, but BBC said they will leave it on abroad for UK citizens on holidays for example.

Meaning a blanket ban on on-UK IP addresses wouldnt work so I guess its something server side with rules based decision making.

I’m not sure where Sonos pull the 6 Music stream from but it’s been working no issues throughout this.

Listening live through Sonos is probably 98% of my listening time so I’ll be happy enough if it continues to work.

6 Music finally stopped working for me through my Soundtouch via TuneIn.

If I try use a VPN, TuneIn tells me "Not available in your location". It allows me to access it from Ireland without VPN, but simple says "there was a problem with the stream"

TuneIn has been on and off since the change. Radio UK app seems fine.

Also funny enough using @Manc-Red_ 's tip I have BBC Sounds back which so far is working fine, no VPN.

My bbc sounds still working, wonder was it because I downloaded it from the UK AppStore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,793 ✭✭✭Luckycharms_74

My BBC sounds app was working fine then got this "geoblock message" on the app. I tried 2 VPNs and it still wouldnt work with UK IP. Its back working again since last night and I did nothing.

It always works on Alexa which i assume is different ( but i know it still uses BBC sounds app)

At the moment I'm happy cause I can listen to BBC sounds on Carplay and podcasts etc and as posted above its the rewind , playback etc on the bbc sounds app that tune in etc can't do.

BBC Sounds is back working for me, possibly because I travelled to the UK a couple of weeks ago and used it.

But the BBC stations aren't loading anymore on TuneIn in my car 🙄

Grabbed an API of BBC Sounds and that's working. But I only really use it on my Southtouch speaker that is hooked up to TuneIn so I hope that comes back.

Don't really want the bother of having to connect to the speaker via Bluetooth. Feck that!
