I mean, we've just jumped completely into the land of make-believe on the last point.

He pulled the communication system that he was under no obligation to provide in the first place. He is an incredibly **** person, but people are through the bloody looking glass if they're talking about him being a legitimate target.

It's the talk of Musk giving information to the Russian military, coordinates of attack of the Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield.

If it's not him personally then the Russian military have control of Starlink directly and know when to pull the plug and when and where to target users to relay that to their guns.

(Unapproved) bribery, (unapproved) fraud, embezzlement (without giving a superior his cut) and abuse of power directed at the wrong people. All those acts are permitted, nay, encouraged, in the right circumstances and can be changed from crimes to praiseworthy acts or the reverse retrospectively depending on who benefits and who is disadvantaged. .

you don’t see an issue with selling viagra to a criminal state that uses rape as a tool?

Deliberately raping civilians and prisoners as a form of warfare

Government should list the Irish companies still selling to RuZZia so citizens could choose to boycott their products. Some of those sales included scrap metal, which is interesting - would've thought RuZZia had plenty of scrap metal these days from their equipment being destroyed in Ukraine, but perhaps it's not recoverable.

Since the government has the numbers, they know where they came from. None of the information is private, just hard to get.

Viagra sales were halted to Russia back in 2022. Seriously are you trying to class Viagra as a dual use item?

mulbot, this side of heaven, the perfect country doesn't exist, there's corruption to a greater or lesser degree in every country. Russia is ranked 154 out of 180 in the world corruption index. And that's far from perfect, I assure you. Russia has not embarked on massive anti-corruption program either, its one criminal who is running out of cash, separating other criminals from their ill gotten gains..God forbid that any government adopt Putins murderous methods of governance, he's nothing but a murderous psycopath,

Oh,btw, mulbot, in a few of my previous replies to you, I mentioned a telephone call to Putin,,,,but no comment back fro you.. any reason for that?

How is the Irish government to know what countries companies are selling to? It's not like companies fill out a form saying they sold X amount of this product to this country etc… The CSO get the stats from surveys and customs declarations, which would be just the tariff code, value and destination.

1m seeing Russia, 113, your beloved Ukraine is 104,so more or less the same.

Phone calls to Putin? Ah we Snapchat more so

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,146 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

    I'll bite again.

    "Your beloved Ukraine"

Ukraine is a democratic neutral country in Europe. Putin is invading it to steal their land. He is slaughtering men, women and children to do this. He's also sending Russians into a meat-grinder to do so.

There are people who supported Hitler gassing the Jews. There are people who support Putin murdering Ukrainians. Okay, but why do you support the latter?

Out of morbid curiosity, what does Putin need to do for you to stop defending him and his regime?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,768 ✭✭✭mulbot

The whole Ukraine Russian situation is far more complex than what you've described, and one of the reasons the US got themselves involved way back before 2014 even. If you can't admit to that then you either don't know as much as you think or are deliberately not being honest-but any time that's came up here we end up in a circular argument that I actually don't want to get Into again

Are you really arguing the complexities when the invading nation are the ones pursuing genocide? It's almost as if you think it's somewhat justified.

No not the same..once upon a time, both country's were at the same level in the world corruption index. But what can you expect from a newly independent state, where the father was Putin and the mother Russia? However, since Ukraine became independent, they have and will continue to make progress in their fight against corruption, as the present rankings prove, while Russia sinks ever deeper in the corruption quicksand, without a way to extricate themselves from it.

As for the phone call with Putin,,,no, not snapchat, far from it, and anyone unlucky enough to have made that phone call to Putin, (and assuming they survived the experience) wouldnt want to repeat it for sure. I suspect a lot of the newly arrested financial manipulators' have already made that call, like the many, perhaps even thousands of people before them in the past. And the outcome will be the same for all of them. They will singlike the proverbial canary. Expect many more arrests in the near future, based on conversations people had with Putin.

Surprising with your vast Russian Experience, that you were unaware of peoples phone calls with Putin…or were you???

I've basically got a bottle of Yaegermeister ready and chilled in the freezer for the day either Putin or Trump kicks the bucket. The former is a piece of shít that's caused a pointless and useless war all because of his vainglorious ego, the latter a diddling PoS who's sucking up to Putin bullshit was disgusting and who's behaviour has been to Ukraines detriment for the last 2 years and has likely ruined America for years and allowed idiotic and smooth brained Christofascists and greedy billionaires to make a mess of peoples lives.

Hell I would celebrate should the day come both get deleted from this reality it would be a win for everyone.

Oh very possible. And at the risk of the old "whataboutery" word that gets so much use here, the Americans do the very same, the Brits do too, but of course they do it in their lapdogs countries, and very well you must know this.

I would rate that as about the same level as the talk about NATO expansionism being a viable threat to Russian security. I mean, it’s a planet with a population of 8bn people. You will find people willing to say anything, no matter how misguided, ill informed or unsupported.

So far, what we -know- is that Musk cut coverage in Russian occupied areas of Ukraine at the same time as the UAF was conducting offensive operations. What is -speculated- is that the reason for this was a desire to avoid upsetting Russia to the point of escalation, which, if true, was a concern of many Western governments at the time. What has not been credibly claimed by anyone that I know of is that Musk/starlink has supported Russia in any way, be it by knowingly enabling Russian starlink use or by providing information of Ukrainian starlink use. If you have any credible evidence of such, I would like to see it presented.

Just seen that on news, Poland also scrambled planes too (perhaps they remember how majority of their airforce was wiped out on ground at start of WW2)

They want to make it illegal there to “discredit” Russian goods and services for some reason

Looking at FlightRadar24, it appears that they are at least still running flights. I guess the already filed flightplans and rosters wouldn’t be impacted yet. However if all of their operations data just got joinked away from them well…they might have to go a little «analogue» to keep things going. Doesn’t bode well for an airline that has many Western airframes and has been forced to ground some of them just for the parts.

If the hackers could do a similar job with the other large Russian airlines, then the sheer size of Russia becomes a much larger headache. No easy or fast way to move troops or equipment, especially via Siberia or beyond.

I'd argue that's already the duty of any American sworn to uphold their constitution. Their right to bear arms exists, in large part, to defend the nation from a tyrannical government. Since he's turned ICE into his own personal gestapo, he's currently the head of a tyrannical regime and, as such, should be terminated by his own military.

Could he not just be considered a legitimate target on the basis that's he's an insufferable little cvnt and, you know, "the only good billionaire…"

It's funny, that's pretty much the same logic some of the more hardcore MAGA crowd employed to suggest similar against Biden/ Harris and anybody in a position of authority seen as anti-Trump… judges etc.

It's kind of jumping the shark really. Like them or loathe them, the US is a well functioning long established democracy and a majority of its population (who bothered to vote, and leaving aside the nuances of the US electoral system) saw fit to vote Trump into power for a second time, having had the benefit of seeing his first term, his enabling of the traitors who tried to take the Capitol by force, and his manifesto for government during his re-election campaign.

I don't want to live in a society where people live and die based on someone's subjective whim and power of oration/ argument. The West aspires to create a rules-based society underpinned by popular democracy where power ultimately rests with the people. The EU has tried to further that aim by copper-fastening various fundamental rights while staying on the capitalist side of the fence. The opposite of Russia in other words.

What's next… a presidential election where the loser his shot out the back while the winner is inaugurated?

The last few pages of side-tracked nonsense have been grist to the mill of Putin fan-boys, as is evident from their sudden eagerness to engage in the discussion. It's a complete distraction from the actual issues that should be concerning us, such as what are our leaders in the West doing, in real terms, to assist the Ukrainians in counteracting Russia's latest approaches on the battlefield - they need better air defence systems and more artillery to push back against Putin's new tactic of mass waves of drone attacks and relentless meat grinder assaults on Ukrainian defence lines. There's nothing nuanced about what the Russians are doing here - it should be an easy assault to repel but the Ukrainian's are starved of the right equipment.

I think I've just reached the level of cynacism where I've no faith in justice being served in any western democracy tbh @Paddigol. The Left/Right stuff is a distraction from the class warfare that we all should be engaged in. Trump is proof positive that if you're rich enough, the laws of democratic nations don't apply to you. So, even though I'm posting with tongue firmly in cheek above, I genuinely think the world would be made a better place with the assassination of a few key members of the parasite class (I refuse to refer to them as an "elite").
