Hardly self defeating, Sam Harris is anti Trump and anti Elon and proposed that reason for the dems losing the election, let’s not forget that we had American parents protesting to school boards, practically begging them to stop educating their kids with gender ideology, a free for all open border policy funded by American tax payers. A lot of people on here are just here to slag off Trump and that’s fine, but any reasonable centrist would not dismiss the proposal that the dems lost the election because they went too far left.

The White House comments on South Park are hilarious.

They are turning into whingey Karen's, way worse than than any looney leftie.

When your ego can't take a cartoon sketch as a joke then it's time to throw the towel in. Especially when the top whinger is a convicted sex pest and good friends with a kiddie fiddler.

free for all open border policy funded by American tax payers

This is simply not true. You can argue that, or believe it for all I care, but it's nonsense. This was not and is not the Democrats' policy. MAGA framed it that way, but then again, they campaigned on releasing the Epstein files, and that's apparently lies too...

The democrats haven’t been going left, both parties have been going right over the last 20 years at least. In any other country they would be considered centre-right, with the MAGA GOP being extreme right. It’s one of the many issues of a 2 party system - as long as you’re less extreme than your opponent, you’re considered “the left”.

In any case I think “going too far left” is just MAGA code for hating anything that promotes equal rights to all and doesn’t prioritise white Christians.

As an example, ractopamine, a promoter of muscle growth, is banned in the EU, China and Russia but is of course legal in the US. It is linked to various adverse health outcomes, especially in the animals consuming it, ie it was banned for bloody good reason.

As for me, I love Irish food. It tastes a bit nicer than what I eat in the UK and it's always something I appreciate when I go home.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Do you realise that saying the dems are "too far left" for the US electorate is a different statement to your earlier one of the dems have a "far left ideology"?

The dems are about as left as Fine Gael

Exactly , the Democrats haven't moved very much at all really , but the GOP have simply disappeared over the far right horizon such that pretty much every single other democratic party in the world would be significantly "to the left" of them.

Their acceleration towards far-right autocracy in the last 10 years has been nothing short of staggering.

The beauty of a well cooked Irish steak is that you can eat it with just salt and pepper and it tastes divine- less is more with good quality meat

Its the Free Speech thing Trump uses but thinks no one else should.

I presume Elon Musk & JD Vance have come out and publicly supported South Park's right to free speech?

    Right?

    Right?

The problem isnt so much Trump, its the media, they are obsessed with Trump, they have to run multiple Trump stories every day.

Whenever I open Microsoft Edge a browser I rarely use the landing page is full of news stories and Trump is always in the top few stories, its absolutely ridiculous.

    Todays headlines are

Donal Trump and Elon Musks bizarre romance just took another unexpected turn

Has Trump met his match in Murdoch, the man who wont be intimidated.

US Ambassador reveals why Trump thinks Canada is Mean and Nasty.

Trump breaks silence on Hulk Hogans sudden Death.

Jeffrey Epstein was at Trumps wedding in 1993.

Why Donald Trump kept the Club World Cup Trophy to himself.

    etc etc

Before anyone says you are seeing Trump stories because of browsing history that is not the case, I tried it on 2 different machines in incognito mode and cleared all the cookies and the same crap is appearing.

Where is the really bloody news of the day ??

Even the king of the Jan 6th "short bus people" is turning against Trump.

You are being prompted by all that news about Trump probably because of your algorithm. Do you talk a lot about Trump online for example?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,561 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

Kinda reminded me of the time he was being interviewed by ABC's Terry Moran about Abrago Garcia and Trump insisted that the M S 1 3 characters that were clearly photoshopped onto a picture of his hand was actually a tattoo. When the interviewer tried to appeal to Trump's common sense regarding the obvious added lettering, all Trump did was double down on his stupidity and continue to insist that it was a tattoo.

There's a reason there isn't similar news coverage of other world leaders. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Maybe if he stopped doing and saying stupid sh*t all the time we'd all get a break for a few weeks.

I just said it wasnt because of an algorithm.

This is on a desktop and laptop, using incognito, not logged in, no cookies, on a browser I only use a handful of times a year and do not use it for discussing Trump.

You don't get real news on the EDGE feed… you just get clickbait nonsense most of the time.
I get a totally different feed to you which only mentions Trump once, but has clickbait stories about Irish celebrities, about footballers, about Wimbledon.

The problem very much is Trump.

He and his administration made the Epstein files a big deal and it's coming back to haunt him. That is news. So what is he covering up?

He reacted to the South Park episode, he could have ignored it. He made it bigger news globally by doing so.
Him and his amoral VP Vance with their hypocritical drivel about free speech which basically means they want to be racist and sexist but no one can criticise them. That's their version of free speech.
So yes it is news if the US administration is shown up in this way.

He picked a fight with the Fed Reserve Chairman and was shown up publicly as a liar, because he is trying to remove him from his position - entirely without merit or foundation. He wants to replace him with a stooge instead of someone who will execute the position with proper responsibility. That is news entirely of Trump's making.

On RTE it is mentioned about EU-US tariffs and trade deal. Is that real news?
It wouldn't be getting mentioned if Trump wasn't embarked upon economic insanity with tariffs.

On BBC he is mentioned because of a visit to Scotland. That is news in the UK.

The main headlines on the BBC and RTE website are about Gaza, and the attacks on and starvation of civilians - for which Trump is culpable too.
It also mentions that the US administration rejects a French move to recognise a Palestinian state.
But he is not mentioned by name. Is that real news?

He takes what other people (his advisors) tell him literally without a quick read first. Result; he thinks he can quote them without there being a likely problem. Yesterday it was a headed single page of paper laying out in clear print what the total he mentioned was for overall and how long since the works were done. Maths is not his only problem. Businessman of the year me arse…

Wait wait is he trying to imply that trump being at the top of all the current affairs news in every country for dozens of various reasons is now not a feature of the Trump “way of doing things” and psychopathic need to be in news but some sort of a conspiracy against Trump?

My my my, the mental knots some tie themselves in

More Trump news, Columbia give in to blackmail. And Vance lectures Europe on free speech but they don't like student protests in the US.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cq8zljpvyk0o

Columbia is among a list of universities that have been pursued by the Trump administration over protests against Israel's war campaign in Gaza and other issues, including transgender athletes and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes.

The government has targeted over 4,000 grants for termination at over 600 universities and colleges across the US, totalling roughly $8bn, according to a tracker by the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank.

Trump posted on Truth Social platform on Wednesday: "Columbia has also committed to ending their ridiculous DEI policies, admitting students based ONLY on MERIT, and protecting the Civil Liberties of their students on campus.

"Numerous other Higher Education Institutions that have hurt so many, and been so unfair and unjust, and have wrongly spent federal money, much of it from our government, are upcoming."

One month after Trump was sworn into office, his administration stripped Columbia of $400m in federal funding over allegations of antisemitism.

I personally think Columbia reacted too soon - it should have waited for a collective response from as many universities as possible

Reporter: "Would you consider a pardon or commutation for Ghislaine Maxwell?"

Trump: "It's something I haven't thought about. I'm allowed to do it but it's something I haven't thought about."

Reporter: "But you wouldn't rule it out?"

    Absolutely above board folks!!

If he pardons her, that is a full scale admission of guilt all across the board.
