I can well believe it, Clinton has other dodgy friends in his past. One of them ran the Miss Teen USA beauty pageant and is a rapist.

    Fixed that for you!

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-house/3479924/gabbard-refers-obama-doj-prosecution-russia-intelligence/ - how does that Presidential Immunity thing work again ?

Then again if aliens exited Trump would have leaked that ages ago…

I think you could safely reduce the length of that first sentence by eight characters.

I thought the plan may have been to get Powell to just get annoyed but say little ,after which Trump would (may still) proceed to give his version of what Powell "agreed" or did not dispute.

Isn't one of his aims to get Powell prosecuted(or just fired?) for corruption wrt this building?

I think “incompetence” is their current approach - but no doubt they’ll consider a dash of “corruption” if they feel they can get away with it

One minute and 30 seconds in is when Trump shows he knows he's been caught in deception. He licks his lips, something he does whenever he's been caught out telling a bare-faced lie.

His “gotcha” totally backfired - you don’t become chair of the federal reserve without knowing your onions - he presents as impassive and someone completely immune to the shenanigans of MAGA- which are exactly the qualities you want for your chair of the federal reserve - he’s likely enemy no 1 of Donald Trump and thankfully one of the few important people in America who has no issue standing up to the orange buffoon - may God be on his side always😀

Enter Laura Ingraham and Ted Cruz on Fox: Obama's not likely to be prosecuted for treason. Hopefully FoxNews will ask Gabbard for a response.

Yes, it's the only way trump can get Powell removed in order to stick a trump lackey in. Trump needs to show Powell guilty of corruption, and his way of doing it is to claim the works are corrupt.

The works are a total refurb and renovation of the 1930s federal building and associated buildings. As anyone knowsc doing a refurb on an older building, it's incredibly difficult to price until you start opening things up and investigating the conditions.

The foundation problems alone in this project were so massive the solution won a building award for "excellence in the face of adversity"

What Mr lil dick was trying to do yesterday was claim the costs were rising again from 2.5b to 3.2b by claiming new works were added, only for Powell to embarrass him by explaining succinctly that those works were carried out 5 years ago.

Have you ever thought of running for a political position in Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,077 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Have you ever thought of criticising Trump, or even acknowledging when he is completely in the wrong, as he was in the lie he tried to peddle about the Federal Reserve building?
Or would that breach the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil policy you seem to have about him?

Don't need to. I work in the architectural field so I understand these things.

Trump has many flaws, many many flaws, but y’all seem to pointing these out just fine, though greatly exaggerated most of the time, forgive me for not hopping on the wagon but Trump is also trying to mend a deeply broken financial situation that the citizens of the US generally understand, he’s a bit of an idiot at times, and a big idiot other times, but he gets stuff done, he’s already negotiated better trade deals for Americans and reduced the risk of nuclear attack from the Iranians, he’s stone mad but he gets sh1t done, and that’s not even mentioning the alternative path that we could have continued on regarding far left ideology if the dems had of won the election.

Trump is an idiot yes, but at the end of the day it’s a better alternative.

no problem…. it was €36k for the construction costs and €300k for my fee to design it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,659 ✭✭✭McFly85

He gets nothing done, and certainly isn’t fixing the financial situation, he’s making it demonstrably worse.

He’s added 4 trillion of debt to the US but none of that is going on anything the public remotely need but rich people will get further tax breaks. But hey, you can now Venmo the government if you’d like to chip in.

He’s made practically everything more expensive for Americans with his tariff nonsense, which has destroyed their international standing and could take decades to recover.

I agree with you on one thing, he is an idiot. And you can’t possibly expect an idiot to be remotely good at something as complex as running a country.

Only in America could a party like the democrats be considered far left or called communists.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,287 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

He's charging the US public tariffs, has failed to reduce the price of anything and has actually done the opposite. Also the US national debt that the GOP have been upset about for years, he is one again drastically increasing it. On top of that he's a rapist who appears to be impeding an investigation into the trafficking of minors cause his name shows up a lot.

Then there's been the endorsement of genocide etc. You can try to add glitter to **** but it's still **** at the end of the day.

So that's just an excuse for you not to criticise Trump yourself. Not convincing.
It is far beyond "flaws" and being an "idiot", he is a vile human being, a racist, a rapist, who is a clear danger to democracy in the US and the safety of the wider world.
He bombed the Iranians, who pretty much then said well, you didn't do as much damage as you thought and in any way we moved the stuff. This was backed up by independent agencies.

His economic plans are nonsense, impoverishing ordinary Americans, stripping them of medical cover and benefits yet adding to the debt, caused economic uncertainty home and abroad, havoc in the markets that hits pension values… it is the bond markets and the Fed Reserve keeping some semblance of economic sanity to keep the lights on. But when Trump tries to discredit the Fed Reserve Chairman with lies, you say nothing.

But then some people will believe the headlines of whatever Trump claims, even when it is a lie.
Anyone who thinks Democrats like Biden and Harris = far left ideology has immediately discredited their opinion of US politics.

    Objectively, your claims are nonsense.

Trump is also trying to mend a deeply broken financial situation that the citizens of the US generally understand,

    1. He is not trying to mend anything. He is trying to make more money for the wealthy and himself
    2. Where is the evidence that the US citizens generally understand because both History and common sense would dictate not voting Republican?

he’s a bit of an idiot at times, and a big idiot other times,

    Agreed 👍

Sure he doesn't even understand primary school maths!!!

    but he gets stuff done,

Eh no he doesn't. He generally bullsh1ts about getting stuff done

he’s already negotiated better trade deals for Americans

Is that why American small businesses are closing? Is that why American supply chains have become more costly?

reduced the risk of nuclear attack from the Iranians,

The risk of nothing is still nothing but I'm aware maths isn't your strong point either!

"Trump has many flaws" - nope he is just deeply "flawed" full stop and clearly not fit for the office he holds. This is what gets me about the Trump phenomenon, the completely lack of honesty, the cult like faith and denial of reality of his supporters.

Some rhetorical questions (we all know the answers!).

Would you trust him to take care of takings of a local charity event?

Would you want his company doing work on your house, say the critical stuff like roof, walls or foundation?

If he was younger, would you like it if one of your children were in a relationship with him?

Would you buy a car (2nd biggest purchases of their lives for most people) off him?

Yet in a democracy where people have their say on their leader, he is put in charge. He gets to hold the trigger button for an arsenal of 1000s of ICBMs that can send us (non-Americans too!) to kingdom come. He gets to wield the awesome conventional might of the US military as he pleases, and a large deal of control over the giant US economy and by extension the world economy.

He doesn't "get sh— done" (IMO always the attraction of fascism and dictators for the ignorant, corrupt, greedy and/or evil voters in all democracies), he's just able to bully others to (try and) get his way by using the blunt force of the US (the powers listed above) and leverage it has over others, especially those countries who have put their trust in it. It's like having a cheat code, but he is IMO contributing to frittering away and weakening of that US power in future.

Trump didn’t negotiate “better trade deals”

He negotiated taxes on American consumers and companies increasing inflation

Like a kidnapper threatening not to shoot the hostage but themselves in head, with the hostage negotiators scratching their heads in confusion and going “well ok?!”

I said it before, I suspect Trump is envious of European style VAT taxes but due to decades of fox propaganda and his own speeches can’t bring them in to raise taxes in Americans to then give tax breaks to billionaires. So he latched onto tarrifs which accomplishes almost the same goal but in a much more stupid and harmful manner

Americans endup being screwed as these taxes sure as hell won’t be paid by foreigners (literally not possible) but by American companies who pass it onto consumers, all whole value of dollar falls and inflation rises to add insults to injury

I never seen so many ridiculous questions.Would you let him run a charity shop. He is a Billionaire , he runs things at a grand scale. He works with loads of companys that would gladly work with him again. Clearly you have something against him but dont be asking ridiculous questions , your one step away from asking would you let him walk your dog .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,427 ✭✭✭fly_agaric

lol, I seem to have touched a nerve. It's a good addition in some ways, as the questions were about trust…given the huge responsibilities and level of power he has been given by voters as US President. I wouldn't trust him with a dog either (if I had one!).

This is a long video and you don't really need to watch more than a random minute or two of it, but it gets better as it goes along! Blueberry farmers are asking nurses - NURSES - to volunteer their time to pick blueberries. I can't imagine why blueberries suddenly need to be picked compared with previous years when there were lots of people to pick them - oh.

Anyway the nurses are 'expressing their displeasure' and their views on the system that suddenly needs blueberry pickers.

And as someone in the comments pointed out, nurses can easily be immigrants, but ICE are not going to haul them out of hospitals, even they have more awareness than doing that, but if they are in the fields picking blueberries…

Touched a nerve not really , I dont really have any skin in the game . Ive no influnce on who is Preseident and I dont get worked up what happens, but I try to be informed but overall I am just watching from the sideline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,077 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

You don't have any skin in the game yet you jumped in because of the poster drawing parallels with Trump's untrustworthiness in small things as a reflection of how he approaches the economy and politics.
Not because of any of the documented reprehensible conduct of Trump?
    Utterly unconvincing.

Trump's tariff policies are already impacting the Irish economy and budget.

A Government source said the ongoing uncertainty on the impacts of the Trump administration’s tariffs on EU goods as well as any potential EU countermeasures means that the future of Irish finances is harder to predict and will necessitate a “tighter” budget this year. It is expected that Tánaiste Simon Harris will tell Cabinet this year’s document will be “different” from previous years, given the continued uncertainty with tariffs, and that decisions made in the budget will “have to focus on protecting jobs and investment during what could be an economically turbulent period ahead”. Government sources have said that the increase in protectionism, rising tariffs, and the “fragmentation of global supply chains” pose a threat to Ireland’s economic model.
