    Buy them both.

    Huge outlay but serious quality.

Diaz and Nunez sales to take the sting out the big outlay?

Arsenal also linked with Isak. Hopefully just paper stuff given they are seemingly so close to Gykores.

I think it’s one or the other. If we get Isak, we’ll agree to drop our interest in Ekitike and Newcastle will meet the asking price.

I’d still love to sign scouse Gordon. Also wouldnt be surprised to see Darwin end up at Newcastle

Sky reporting we have made an official bid of £69 for Ekitike with a potential extra of £9m in add-ons subject to meeting various criteria. (80+10 in euro).

Looks like a new offer of up to 80 M euro for Etitike lodged, so that's like 10nor 12 million more that we've been offered for Lucho.

If we wanna keep Lucho, we're really gonna pony up a new contract, which will cost probably 2.5/3 million per year.

It's stick or twist time. Personally, I think Lucho's head is turned, he's looking for security and to get paid now. Bring in the new, hungry guy I say.

Ive very Little concern about Diaz's motivation on the pitch tbh.

Sometimes his decision maki6and end product for sure.

I've no problem keeping him for 2 more years.

The Newcastle situation is interesting. They are tight on finances on what they can spend, even with Champions League next year. They bet the house in a way by spending a lot on transfers since the takeover. But City and PSG has spoiled their fun a little in that their own spending in the past has meant that the authorities are not standing for a country just spending what they want on a club, so they have not been able to manipulate the accounts yet to increase their revenues artificially. So by most reporting they need to sell to be able to buy, seeing as they have spent 531m euros the past 4 seasons and only received 137m euros in fees from transfers. Add in the players they bought would have been looking at higher wages, you can see why they are tight on whatever rules there are on spending.

I do not put a lot of stock in what Eddie Howe has to say, he has shown he is fully happy to sell his integrity for is new employers when he refused to discuss the new owners as he is only a football managers that can speak about football (or something like that to avoid having to speak about his overlords), but when he was asked about the tree that was cut off he was more than happy to have a chat about off the field issues that has nothing to do with football.

As a comparison, we have spent 453m euro in that time and received 218m in transfer fees in that time. I know we are 2 clubs at different stages, we can spend more than most as our revenues allows us that leeway, we can buy players most clubs can only dream of due to the wages we pay as well. But that just shows how much Newcastle has spent and why they could be in a position in having to sell Isak.

Apparently the deal is just about done for Ekitike for around €95m. Huge fee.

A bit more might make AM think about selling Alverez who'd be my first pick for a CF for us. Or even see could you do a deal of €80m + Nunez.

Will Salah miss Trents balls this season, they has a good relationship down the right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,222 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Isak must be livid seeing his dream move to Liverpool getting crushed before his eyes. Ekitike deal getting wrapped up it seems.

Ornstein uses it fairly regularly. Think it's usually when the main figures are agreed and they move on to the structure of the payments.

It's unreal money for the French Elliott. Frankfurt should take Elliott for 40m .

He's only as good as Elliott? Why are we signing him then? Just keep Elliott...?

Elliott just isn't up to it. 5 goals in 90 league apps. Lots of sub games in there obviously but still, he just isn't good enough.

Came across this article advocating for the club to sign Ekitike in December 2021.

Ekitike done deal 78 million euro upfront 15 million in add ons

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,262 ✭✭✭jones

It's a lot of money but looking forward to seeing this guy. I've seen a lot of comments that we're still pursuing Isak but how could we sign both unless Ekitike can play on the left to replace Diaz?

Some activity in this window it's a very exciting time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,787 ✭✭✭✭ben.schlomo

All reports saying €90m fee and an additional 5m if add-ons met.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,359 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Basically, looks like 2 in and 2 out so far, Wurtz and Ekitikike in for Jota and Lucho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,580 ✭✭✭fplfan12345

I’d assumed Wirtz was going to play on the left of the front 3 albeit a lot more narrow than we’ve seen in that position last season.

If we sign Ekitike AND Isak will Wirtz then play No.10 ?

I just didn’t see our middle 3 of Gravenberch, MacAllister and Szoboszlai getting broken up even though I think everyone agrees that Szoboszlai should be getting more goals and assists in that position.

Ekitike our first palindrome player since Ojo? Sign Eze next please, and whoever is the best of the many Chileans called Salas.

Not sure I like that reference to Jota. He never left.

    What about Trent/Frimpong? Or Kerkez?

£69m / €80m is the agreed guaranteed fee according to Sky Sports. Liverpool offered €10m in addons, EF wants €15m. So very close and presumably an agreement won’t be far away.

Don’t think I want Guehi in to replace Konate. Ibou is a big character in the squad, you can see he gets on great with his teammates and VVD in particular, and he’s a great defender. Only downside to him is he seems to get injured a lot. Guehli by all accounts is a very shy lad and likes to fade into the background. I don’t think him and VVD would be a great partnership. English players today are way overrated. The national team is rubbish even if it has been getting to finals and semi finals recently, they are not anywhere near the level of the teams that Gerrard, Rooney, Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard played in.

How can that be true when he is the literal captain of Crystal Palace? He must surely have some leadership ability.

I have only seen good reports on his character, where he is described as 'humble' and 'low maintenance'.

He is apparently deeply devout though, being a 'god first' son of a church minister. He did write a 'jesus loves you' message on an LGBT armband, which caused controversy and was unnecessary in my view, but he did wear it, unlike the opposing captain, Ipswich Town's Sam Morsy.

While I would also prefer to keep Konate (together with Diaz, and Elliot), I would welcome another quality CB.

Apparently refusing to sign a new contract too so definitely more to it than Howe is saying I reckon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,359 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Yes, of course Kerkez/Frimpong, I was referring specifically to the attacking options.

None of us like it, but regardless, Jota won't be lining up next season and his place in the squad has to be filled someway. If that offends your sensibilities, I apologize, but the people running the club have to be cold, build a squad and deal with the realities of who is and isn't available.

It's been an active window so far, it remains to be seen who leaves by the end of it. Diaz, and maybe Konate of the frontline squad, with the likes of maybe Elliott, Doak.... who else will move on?

Gotta say though, I like how we're doing business this year, just pay the fvckin money and move on, zero drama.

Played Stoke behind closed doors and won 5-0. Nunez hat-trick and Rio Ngumoho in the first half. Chiesa with the 5th in the second half

When Ekitike is signed there will be 19/20 non homegrown players in the squad. We can only register 17 of them so there are going to be a few departures.
