Is there no end to this horrific evil abuse, those poor girls and their dead brother in Rathfarnham. I can hardly read about it.

And yet Rte recently did a puff piece programme on how great the missions were?

The fact that he was interred in a place that means something to people of the RC faith was hard to stomach for many. Taking eight years to move him was just another indicator that the wishes of the ‘faithful’ don’t matter to the RC authorities.
Also unbelievable how 11 bishops and 61 priests were happy to concelebrate the funeral of a disgraced member of their clergy and even more astonishing that it was attended by 1600 people including holders of senior office in society and religious organisations. Even with everything known about him at that stage, the RC bishops were still praising his good works at the funeral. His niece had reported him back in 2005 for abuse in the 1960’s and the RCC still went ahead with that spectacle and fanfare for him. Really shocking.

I remember my late Grandmother being shocked that Annie Murphy had fathered a child by Bishop Casey. My understanding was she was visiting from the U.S and he was asked to look after her while she was here. I don't know anything about the allegations of sexual abuse against Bishop Casey.

Entering into the priesthood requires a man to sacrifice the possibility of sex and marriage. In all reality it's probably an unrealistic ask of a man to forego satisfying his lust. Clearly though that does not excuse sexual abuse or interfering with a minor in any way shape or form.

The other sadly reality is that pedophiles are drawn to the church as it gives them access to children and a Priest, historically, has been considered a person of trust in the community.

Its time to dig all the clergy / Bishops up from religion's grounds-

Evil should be banned from where our loved ones are buried-

Most burials in the Republic are in secular cemeteries owned by friendly societies or local authorities - Donegal is the only county which doesn't have one.

Churchyard burials are more of a Church of Ireland thing

Septic tanks are only needed for people whose families don't want the remains.

Are you saying those mothers didn't want their children. Didn't want to know their fates. Didn't want them buried with dignity ?

The mothers generally had no choice.

The grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts and neighbours absolutely did have a choice. They exercised it.

You never miss a chance to give a kick to those victimised by the church, do you?

The the only people who exercised their choice as to whether or not to kill those babies and bury them in septic tanks was the church.

Only they could decide not to do what they did.

As for Casey though he still got treated with respect according to the Galway diocese own statement "following prayers for the dead, his mortal remains have been moved from the Cathedral Crypt".

It's pretty clear the church and some people still can't come to terms with their crimes.

I am delighted to hear that. He was an absolute creep.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Bit off the mark with that quote, a lot of the time it was the local priest or Garda who was involved to cover up rape and the perpetrators and pedos.

T quote the journalist character from the film Spotlight: if it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to abuse a child.
