Marca reporting that the buy option is €35m negotiated down from €50m. No idea how reliable they are these days, if they ever were.

Also noteworthy is that it appears Rashford has taken a paycut to go there and this is the only way Barcelona are covering all of his wages.

    Take note Sancho.

World Cup year, Rashford was always going to do whatever it takes to get a move. Sancho's International career is pretty much over.

missed all today's action. will need to find some highlights.

re rashford, i think this loan is a bad move for us. we save his wages but does that allow us to do anything extra this window?

well no, if he comes back next year and we still cant sell him. will ineos gamble that they'll get ~20m for him next summer? i think not, but will remain hopeful.

Rashford is pure profit, with regarding to psr would Sancho count as "profit" as well woth regards to psr? Jim said last season that they were in the last year of paying off the Sancho transfer.

Would be delighted to see them leave.

data from capology. i am assuming he will not be paid his 75k per week bonus whatever the **** that is. leaves him at a base wage of 300k per week, or 225k per week assuming 25% reduction for no CL.

that saves us 11.7m this year.

    Screenshot 2025-07-19 173422.png

    https://www.capology.com/player/marcus-rashford-35734/

buy someone for 25m (GK/midfielder?), paying 100k per week costs 10.2m annually.

sancho remaining book value is ~15m pounds. what is he going for?

we would save approx. 13m pounds in wages. so i think we would come out in a PSR positive position with sancho.

Interesting that Amorim specifically said that we have a lack of pace in central midfield which makes it difficult to win the ball back and/or bring it forward.

And yet I don't think we've been linked with a single CM this summer.

cos they kept bruno to play him out of position 🤔

Corentin Tolisso of Lyon got mentioned earlier this week. Likely BS as a few players were all "linked" earlier this week on the same day too I believe.

How did Leon look?…..know he’s only a young lad and likely to go out on loan but did he at least look to have a good first touch?……something which Dorgu struggles with imo.

I saw a write up about his performance today on the BBC website. According to the writer he was solid.

Carl Anka really really likes the look of Camara at Monaco. He can do the defensive work on the front foot and towards our own goal. Rates him very highly. Reckons in a year or two time he'll be a 100mil player the likes of Madrid will be after.

    Edit, Camara with a C not a K

Also, on the Stretford Paddock podcast (generally not bad especially when no Stephen Howson)

Got burned once or twice when Gnonto and Bogle paired up against him but as Johnsen pointed out at H/T Shaw should've helped him out more.

Very willing to attack and a few nice moves with Cunha.

I believe both Leon and Amorim have said he is in the first team this year and not going on loan, Amass is going on loan instead.

Saving around 17m in wages for Rashford, there must be no loan fee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,716 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

no loan fee. the wages saved - who knows theses days. i estimated above (based on assumptions) its about 12m.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,838 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Yeah I'd assume that's why it's only a buy option too because of the wages being covered.

Read this on BBC gossip page

England winger Jadon Sancho's switch from Manchester United to Juventus is close to being completed as the two clubs have finalised some details of the 25-year-old's move. (Tuttosport - in Italian), external

Juventus are ready to meet Manchester United's 25m euros (£21.6m) asking price for Sancho, who is in full agreement with the Serie A giants over a four-year contract worth 6m euros (£5.2m) per year. (Sportmediaset - in Italian)

    Fingers crossed

£6M is that half what he's on here? Guessing we'll have to pay him around £6M from the fee for the deal to go through if true.

I really hope they can find the cash to bring in a striker. United is a depressing enough topic atm but heading into the new season with a brand new front three would be something to get excited about (I know we need work elsewhere too but last season in front of goal was awful), especially when 2 of them have shown they can do it against PL defences. Which is exactly what we need after previously hanging hopes on Sancho & Antony. If Watkins happens they will have pulled me right back in.

Was looking at tickets for the Arsenal game, I told myself I wouldn’t go again for a while after the City home game but I can’t help myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,018 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I think it's absolute critical we get a striker, I'd go as far to say the season is reliant on it.

We cannot go into the season relying on Højlund as he wont get into double figures

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,949 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Mirror are reporting that as the case:

"Juve initially offered €17m, but are now ready to meet United’s asking price of €25m – a figure which includes easily achievable add-ons and severance pay for Sancho, who is halving his salary to move to Turin."

So (if true) we've basically accepted their offer on condition that they cover his payoff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,401 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

He got into double figures last season, and can hardly have a worse season than that? He's 22 and with better attacking players creatively around him who will hopefully play the passes to him when he makes his runs he will have this season to save his united career imo. Could do with cm for sure though and if we can get someone to ease the burden up top that would be sweet too obviously.

Off this topic, seeing us in a 433 at times today was unexpected but welcomed flexibility.

"People say ‘go with the flow’ but do you know what goes with the flow? Dead fish."

Getting rid of the likes of Rashford and Sancho is as good as signing Cunha and Mbeumo imo. Its an underline to the end of player power at the club and tying down players to huge contracts to "protect player value".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,350 ✭✭✭FrankN1

Didn't see the game today but reports didn't bode well. Yes it's the first pre season game but Amorim has 10 games to prove his worth in the PL. If he's not got a significantly good start, he shouldn't last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,018 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

He got 10 across all competitions (skin of his teeth) but I was referring to PL games since he wont have the joy of Europe where he scored 6

I don't believe better creative players around him argument, his movement is awful. Look at Zirkzee when he comes on, it's like night and day and Zirkzee is not a no 9. Zirkzee makes better runs and he's more involved in the game. When Zirkzee comes on you feel and instant injection of enthusiasm, he's body language is completely different to Højlund who looks lost out there

1st game of pre season is all about fitness.

Newcastle lost 4-0 to Celtic today, Blackburn beat Everton 1-0, Villa lost 3-1 to Hansa Rostock that wouldn't happen mid season.
