    Making what kind of stuff? I didn't know they were going to make stuff in Dublin.

    The kids are not coming on their own ! As mentioned there seems to be a lot of mentors coming too. If they meet immigration criteria they are welcome with open arms - if not then sorry you don’t get in.

    The immigration authorities declined to issue the group visas, and one of the reasons given was that there's a real risk some/all of the group plan on ignoring the visa rules and staying in Ireland.

    Now I'm no expert, but if I was the organisers I would probably avoid proving the immigration authorities right by making statements about "saving" the children and the importance of "getting them out of there". And also I'd ask my supporters not to make statements like "And so what if they do stay?!" which further strengthen the case to refuse them visas.

    The right decision.

    They would never have gone back and the floodgates would have opened because the government would cave in to pressure to let more in.

    Did the immigration authorities actually give that as a reason?

    The only thing that the immigration authorities have said on this was that they were not satisfied the applications meet the child safety guidelines.

    To me that readas as that they were missing information like parental consent.

    I'd imagine that believing that the group had a potential to not go back was also in their assessment.

    I am happy that nobody did a unturn on this, even though there was a certain amount of pressure coming from the usual crowd.

    From the Department statement on the refusal;

    "In adult cases, evidence of financial means, employment or other ties that indicate a person intends to return home are important criteria. These help to establish that a person has a legitimate reason to come to Ireland, and that they will comply with the conditions of a short-term visa."
