Had to laugh at Dean hanging out with the scissor sisters last week. Has he no friends his own age?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,396 ✭✭✭threetrees

Mairead got a job which required a lot of training that she was exhausted from. It would make sense that it was a Lidl managerial job as they do internships, not quite the right age profile but the logic is correct.

Rene on the other hand waltzed into the manager job which is completely outside the age profile and training for Lidl

I think Mairead is going to be an area manager and will kick Rene's backside when she sees how things are being run.

    Watch this space.

Has Con and Ger met yet?

Renee as the store manager of a new branch is bonkers. She's way too old to be a new hire into a newly created position (and had been working in Spar as a shop assistant) - no way would she be given the job ahead of a load of new graduates seeking entry into a managerial position.

How did James not know who Ger was, did he meet her when he was with Hailey?

Caught up a bit tonight - shite about boules,a spoon,a locket,an SD card and Dean who was in Lidl about ten times on the same day,Who comes up with this drivel???🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭Otis Hill

I suppose of all people at least Dean has the excuse that he could be going in there multiple times for different ingredients as needed if he's operating hotpots on a lean supply e.g. he doesn't know how popular the menu will be on a given day so only keeps minimal ingredients on hand and if the dish is popular he pops in for more. Then he could also say he's doing his personal grocery shopping separate to his work shopping. And he probably buys fresh daily rather than waste money on a big fridge and/or freezer.

There's a heap of characters MIA at the moment.

Where are Jess and Greg while all this stall craic is happening with the Mullens? Also is Charlene ever coming back? They seemed to be building her up to be a main character and then she vanished.

Where has Zoe gotten to while all this garage corruption is going on? Did she go on the holiday Paul promised her? You'd think she be the best for eavesdropping on everyone plot device wise while she lurks outside the garage on her courier bike.

Have we seen the last of Mark, Tyler and Ciaran in the slammer?

Where is Ellie? Did she go back to Brazil offscreen? Where is Alex in that case since he had the hots for her?

Has Leo or Ray or Nora mentioned that Bosco has moved out? Or has he been scrubbed from Carrigstown's collective memory?

Are Melanie and Jess going to bother working from the shared office? They can't stand each other and if Joan is working remotely there's no need for them to be in the office. Its not like either can actually advise clients so they can surely do the paperwork at home.

Lastly where is Fergal? Him and Jacinta really should have been there to wish Liam well on his travels. I'd imagine broadminded Fergal would love to stay in touch and hear all about the culture over there.

Haven't seen Dean in the Hotpots van for a good while now. Does he have an employee to cover for him when he's hanging out in Lidl or the Pig? and does he seriously go for lunch in a rival business?

Mairead and Dean are like a pair of teenagers trying to have a sneaky shift when they think nobody is looking.

Oh they've rediscovered the set for Yvonne Doyle's old apartment. I wonder is it meant to be the same one above the Pig?

Umm Renee, wasn't your daughter's most successful book a metaphor for shagging her own brother? 😬

Probably not the type of thing you should be bragging about to your neighbours 🙄

I wanted to see Jacinta at the book club, they could choose Heather's book to read

There was a great opportunity here to introduce a new character as store manager. Both Mairead and Renee should be on the checkouts. In the real world neither of them would have waltzed into a management role in Lidl.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,920 ✭✭✭John arse

Not in the real world though, it's F C - The twilight zone!😳

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭Otis Hill

Well, this is the same reality where Hayley was headhunted by some employer based in Dubai who wouldn't take no for an answer and insisted they wanted her despite her turning it down at one stage and mulling it over for weeks before changing her mind and they still kept the role open for her. Apparently her years of experience running a pub and then squandering a million on a failed building development were very desirable lines on the CV. The cherry on top must have been her being a person of interest in an active arson case at the time.

Joan is also apparently the best person qualified to work an Irish man's criminal fraud case in Canada because she worked there for a little while when she was young. All the other Canadian solicitors that have been practicing there their whole lives just don't cut it.

Just catching up with this baloney now. I’ve lived in Ireland all my life - more years than I care to remember etc…. I don’t move in criminal circles, but in my everyday life I have never heard an Irish person using the word ‘snitch’. Rat -yep. Tell-tale tattler -yep. Snitch -never. Yet I heard the word used at least 20 times in recent FC episodes. The TY students/Script writers need a Roget’s Thesaurus, bless their little cotton socks.

It's the bally ballyness of it that makes it all seem so bally bally.

Where is Gwen, surely she would be eavesdropping on James and Ger and his money problems

She did and I know she's nosey but I do think she cares about Mairead.

Lidl are certainly getting their moneys worth with the amount of scenes being filmed in the store. As for Renee , would ya ever go take a long running jump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,106 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

And they're making sure to have lots of Lidl advertising behind the characters in every scene, it's pretty full on as far as sponsorship or product placement goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,018 ✭✭✭Deeec

Renee must be one of the highest paid actors in the soap. She's in alot of storylines as the nosey, annoying neighbour.

I like her as a character, but sometimes it's a bit tedious. Like this book club story - Renee taking over again! - rinse and repeat. In another few weeks she'll be involved in something else annoying everybody again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,018 ✭✭✭Deeec

Yep it is full on alright I'm not sure though it's painting Lidl in a good light. People standing around gossiping is not a fair reflection of their stores. Their staff gossiping while working isn't something that happens either.

We've yet to see any middle isle stuff. We need to see Nora buying a foot spa or Tommy buying an electric shovel or something equally ridiculous or useless - when he just when in to get a pint of milk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭jippo nolan

perhaps Tommy could pass off Lidl “ produce” as his own 😉

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,002 ✭✭✭Archduke Franz Ferdinand

at this stage they’d be better off just basing the soap in the Lidl store and focus it on the staff and customers. Ridiculous at this stage

Has Bob's absence been explained on screen, is he gone away, home sick etc., Renee hasn't mentioned him AFAIR
