Not going to repeat your allegation my name is URL but I hope you've got a good lawyer. Although if Giuliani is still Trump's they probably don't have to be that great…

I'll be claiming free legal aid and demanding a working camera in my cell

The Guardsmen are finally getting released.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-administration-releases-california-national-guard-2000-los-angeles/

As an aside, the panel of the 9th circuit who addressed the appeal of the district court’s order overruled it. Didn’t get much press at the time.

    https://cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/opinions/2025/06/19/25-3727.pdf

The merits of the case itself have yet to be determined, and we’ll see if it ever will be given that the troops are about to be released, and will presumably render the whole thing moot.

But as far as the 9th is concerned given the evidence and argument to that point, the situation allowed for the federalization, Newsom had no say in the matter, and California law delegates the governor’s authority on military matters to the Adjutant General. (And even if it didn’t, the TRO would have been overkill). And everyone agreed that it was not a violation of posse comitatus to use the troops to protect federal property and personnel.

The court observes in the second to last page an important distinction too many people forget: That whether or not something is a good idea has no relevance to whether or not it is legal.

The very job of politicians is to align good ideas with the law.

    Oh, this is interesting...

CNN is reporting that the Department of Justice has fired Maurene Comey, who served as an AUSA in the Southern District of New York.

She was a lead prosecutor in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial and the Jeffrey Epstein case before he died.

It went from 'release the files',

    to 'protect the philes'

I actually agree with tough policies on illegals if they commit crimes. You don’t have to be a Trump supporter either

I forgot QAnon was a thing. He's literally protecting child molesters and his supporters are clapping like seals.

is the whole thing a bit of a contradiction ie Israel trying to ‘protect’ people from being ‘obliterated’ while at the same time it is doing its best to try and ‘obliterate another very established group of people ie the Palestinians. Not only is Israel trying to reduce them in numbers through indiscriminate killings and maiming others - driving more to possible suicide but mass moving them all over the place multiple times so as to drive the group raged.

Doublethink was a central idea in Orwell's 1984.

Also Newspeak, the deliberate dumbing down of language as you can see in how Trump and his sycophants speak in monosyllables with randomised caps to emphasize hate instead of education well though out prose or discourse.

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

I would not be surprised in slightest if these new Cokes use same font and red/white colours as MAGA hats

And instead of “Mates” / “Family” / “Squad” etc have

Trump or Daddy on them in all caps

If Trump went back to drinking full sugar coke instead of the gallon of diet coke he drinks every day, he'd be dead in a month

And from my favourite Senator, with his words of wisdom!

I think a poll for the dumbest Senator would be exciting!

When Powell's term is up, Trump is going to put a yes man into the Fed - looking at the rest of his appointment its going be someone with the longest tongue rather than someone competent. If people think its a **** show now, wait till Trump can control interest rates.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,511 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

As one commentator put it, all that we ask is that the media pursue Trump over the Epstein matter, with the same vigour they applied to pursuing Joe Biden over his mental acuity

That last line is something one cannot get into the brain of some people. The last video on a U.S News network of the Gd Pers responding to provocateurs "bastards etc" verbal abuse with passive restraint spoke volumes of that units discipline while ensuring the troublemakers did not enter onto the post protected.

Scott Beasant (A Trump man, current Treasure Sec) seems to be the consensus.

But rates are decided by a committee of 12 governors and the chair afaik. I don't think the 'chair' has any specific power to act alone, and no extra votes. Though obviously they have big influence. I guess a lot depends on whether the current 'keep rates as they are' Fed policy has been a 13-0, 12-1 landslide or whether it has been a 7-6 close thing. If the latter then clearly a changed vote is huge.

Trump appointed Powell. Yet another instance of Trump making a terrible mistake (in his own opinion).

How many times does one person need to made terrible decisions before people start to question their decision making capabilites?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,797 ✭✭✭✭salmocab

oddly it sounds like one of the actual better appointments he’s made.

When Alex Jones makes and releases a video about Trump making Epstein the biggest train wreck he's ever seen and is begging Trump to stop it, that it's finally got peoples attention, hollers "stop, Please President Trump, stop now", the Miller mob should be worried.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 23,190 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

    It's never going to happen.

There's some people that for some reason, a significant part of society decides to collectively judge them differently and they never have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Trump is the best example of this in my lifetime.

The day the Access Hollywood tape was released in 2016, I said that's it, he's not going to win, but he did win because people decided that they were ok with that. He lied 40K times during his first term, failed to deliver on his campaign promises, horrendously mismanaged the two chief public crises during his term, incited an insurrection and was impeached twice and still, he suffered no consequences. He tried to override the outcome of a valid election, mishandled Top Secret Documents and still Republicans chose him to run again and again he won.

This 6 months has been the worst 6 month period of any President we've ever seen and still he and his supporters literally claim that he is here because of divine intervention. Every penny in Federal income as a consequence of tariffs that he brags about has been paid by Americans but still his supporters and media praise him for what he has done.

He might lose control of the House in mid-terms, he might be somewhat of a lame duck for his final 2 years, a large part of America will never hold him accountable for his actions as an individual or for what they have done to the country. We're already seeing attempts for him to get the Nobel Peace Prize he desperately craves. Decency or logic will have no basis on whether he does win this or not but irrespective of that we can look forward to the next 20 years of Republicans trying to laud him and celebrate his legacy in different ways and possibly one of his heinous offspring running on his name.

Ivanka could be the first US President and people, with a straight face, will say that she is supremely qualified to be so given she is his daughter and worked with him in his first term when the same people claimed that the Law and Economics Degree holding, former City and State DA, former Senator and former VP of the United States wasn't up to the job.

The simple fact is that the press need to grow a pair of balls and establish themselves as journalists by asking for proof when lies are spouted by Trump and when none is given, push back and contextualise.

"You said this is a hoax. Why should the public believe that when you said on this date that... Etc etc etc"

It's not like Trump has a different playbook. You will know what the response would be.

For example, how was it not anticipated that Trump would have rubbished Powell's hiring?

How is not anticipated that he will blame Epstein on the democrats?

It should be a piece of pi$$.

The only way I see this happening is if they, the press, believe Trump is finished. If they don't have to worry about access, the gloves may just come off.

So much unnecessary time, effort, and money spent by governments and companies around the world to deal with the tariffs all because that moron has no clue how they actually work and what a trade deficit actually means.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,017 ✭✭✭spacecoyote

Love the headline of "Trump claims 50bn tariff windfall"

Ie the government has collected 50bn in tariffs from their own citizens and businesses.

I dont get how this doesnt get explicitly questioned too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,529 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

I mentioned this before in thread but what Trump wanted and was envious about was European style vat tax, so he he can then give money to the ultra rich via tax breaks

But he couldn’t use that approach as himself and fox spent years giving out about Europeans

So someone must have pointed out he can tax Americans via tarrifs instead and achieve almost same (tho much much dumber) and here we are
