    Hi All,

So We are just back from 2 weeks in Tamarit beach resort in Spain. Was grand and very hot. We are looking at somewhere for next year but bored with the Spain,Portugal,France, Canaries options.

Has anyone any suggestions and somewhere a little different? We will have an 11 and 14 yr old in tow with us.

Somewhere with a few bits to do, things to see/visit and a few shops and restaurants. Within a 3 hr,4 at a push, flight.

Not really interested in the high rise apartment accommodation. Looking more towards villas with a pool.

I hear eatern europe is lovely(have done Croatia).

    My head is fried!

    Looking forward to some suggestions!

Iceland. Note that it can get hot in the summer, given they have nearly 24 hour sunshine.

Would 2 weeks be too much in Iceland Victor?

you could always 'spend' longer, but you ll pay for it! last trip there was 10 days and cost me about 3k or so, camping!

No I meant enough to see and do? Not overly worried about price.

yup, by far the most expensive country ive ever been to, worth it though, if you re into things such as volcanoes etc. i could have rented a cheaper car(main cost at 2k for the 10 days), but….

Rhodes is resonably priced and plenty of villas, not sure if i'd call it different but it's unique in it's own way definately not built up, we went last year and decided to go again this year, the kids love snorkelling and the water is so calm and clear for them there.

If you want a variation on a sun holiday try Sarande in Albania. Close to Corfu too if you wanted a day trip. Albania is fantastic. Tirana is very underrated.

For a non sun holiday, Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. It has Ljubljana, Piran, The Julian Alps, Lake Bled. The Swiss Alps in the summer or the west coast of Norway are great as well.

Slovenia is pretty great and underrated. A lot cheaper than either Italy or Austria too. Its been 15 years since I was there but it was 2 euro a pint in a tourist area.

Italy?? We went to lake Garda a couple ot years ago. 2-3 days in Venice and then a week at Bella Italia hotel at lake Garda, with access to campsite included. Actually we preferred the campsite cabins, but it was sold out.

Kids loved swimming in the lake cos the water wasn't salty. My missus fell in love with Italy. Going to Amalfi coast next week. Probably lake Como next year.

Did you try cruise holidays? Explore a new town/city very day or just enjoy the pool, beaches, shows every evening, teen clubs etc. great itineraries from Barcelona or other Mediterranean cities.

Fethiye in Turkey, simply nowhere else in the 4 hour flight time that comes close to this place imo. An outstanding destination.

We went to Sarande for 2 weeks at Easter. Was gorgeous. Lots of day trip options and even better if you wanted to rent a car.

There are not heaps of "resorts' yet but they are on the rise. It was so lovely to be somewhere that ticked all the tourist boxes but didn't have the endless streets of tourist shops, nor did we feel ripped off at any stage. 100% recommend.

I'd also recommend Lake Garda and with teenagers plenty of watersports options on the Lake if that's their thing.

Now that you mention Croatia when we stayed in Dubrovnik all the locals were telling us that Montenegro next to it was so beautiful and they all go there as cheaper.

Now I've no idea how developed it is but just said I'd mention it as you said your were in Croatia.

Check out something like Lakes and Mountains with TUI, we've done Austria with them and used the ski lifts to take us up the mountains and do the trails then from there and already mentioned I'd second Lake Garda
