I have noticed a disturbance in the MAGA world on 'X'. Some of the Qtipper crowd were always more focused on uncovering the Great Paedophile Ring first and foremost and only loyal to Trump to the extent that they believed that he was their agent, the champion who was intent on uncovering and destroying it. They had their own cult, previous to Trump and aren't as insanely loyal to him in person as other MAGA factions. They were loyal to him insofar as they saw him as an outsider, outside the 'deep state'. If they begin to doubt his status or come to believe that he too, is part of the swamp, it may spell trouble for him. Carlson and Bannon may be already drifting in that direction.

Trump wouldn't really care about being barred from visiting Ireland, but it was would be a decent pretext to rile up his followers.

The fact is that Ireland cannot afford to get into some sort of hostile relationship with Trump. If countries like the UK and France have made the calculation that it's better to plámás Trump, then you can 1000 percent sure Ireland will do the same. There isn't really a western country who is ready to just tell Trump to fcck off and sever economic ties altogether. No western country can afford that.

The sad thing is that the strategy is evidently to try and 'ride out' Trump's term and then do business with a saner administration to follow. Even if this works, it completely ignores that the US would lurch back to MAGA afterward, rendering it an unreliable strategic and economic partner in the long term.

It seems to be that neither the politicians nor the general populations of Europe are truly willing to do the hard work and make the sacrifices required to cut the US off and stand on our own two feet.
