Has anyone any idea of what colour of jersey Meath and Donegal will be wearing Sunday week? I can't imagine both teams will be using their traditional tops as they are quite similar.

I don't think anyone will change TBH.

Terrible referee. Played an advantage in the Mayo game, let 2 or 3 plays evolve & then brought it back for the original foul. Was out of depth & can’t see any cause for optimism in Croke Park.

Would imagine someone will have to change…..will be difficult for tv if both teams were their normal strip.

I doubt it would be a problem. Far as I know this is the official 2025 Meath jersey

Out of his depth is putting it kindly.

How anyone from the appointment committee gave this ref a rating from the recent game in Hyde Park that got him an All Ireland Semi-Final is beyond belief. Even Mayo supporters at that game could not believe some of his carry-on that favoured them.

I think we are changing. Donegal Gaa had a post on their socials promoting to get the fit for the semi final with the white jersey. I would guess both will change it is what typically happens in the All Ireland series ie us and Kerry in 2012 and Mayo and Kerry often.

Didn't change in Super 8 game in Ballybofey in 2019. Or Division 2 Final in Croke Park the same year. Last time we played was Division 1 in Navan in 2020 (iirc) and neither team changed.

Minors played a Tier 2 Championship match in May and neither team changed.

And, we didn't change v Mayo in 2013 or v Kerry in 2014. Not that anyone should care to remember.

We now change v Clare, Antrim, Roscommon. Not sure about Wexford. Probably.

I suppose it will be up to the rule makers. Only assuming on Donegal’s official accounts pushing that jersey. Ie we didn’t change in 2014 v Kerry but did in 12 as the 14 jersey was a lot more predominantly yellow vs the 12 one. Likewise I am sure there was less green on the 19 one vs the current iteration. Anyway I don’t think any of us will be all that bothered what they line out in as long they get the result.

The only way it will happen is if Jim comes out and says we shouldn't.

No change. Both Donegal and Meath to play in their home strip after all the toing and froing.

If the powers that be have so little to be doing, instead of the messing around over jersey`s they should have been living up to their own hype that clubs are the bed-rock of the game rather than having tickets on sale before the clubs got their allocations. Especially when the eventual allocations were less than the club demands.

It`s difficult enough getting people to subscibe to club membership, club lotto and other fund raising events on the half promise that if the county reaches the latter stages of the championship they will be entitled to at least a ticket or entered in a draw for one without the kind of messing where someone can wander into Super Valu and get a ticket before the club has any.

Bit of a kick in the arse for the whingers that dislike Jim that Meath called it first on no change

Would that not have been better addressed to Croke Park ?

They keep telling us the clubs are the bedrock of the game, yet when it comes to tickets clubs in the two counties playing on Sunday could not get sufficient tickets to supply their members who keep those clubs alive. To add insult to injury even before clubs knew what their allocations would be, any randomer could waltz into Super Valu and pick whatever seat he wished.

Their was no curtailing of tickets for season ticket holders, so rather than the clubs being the bedrock it seems as far as the powers that be are concerned it`s just blowing smoke and for them the National League is their real bedrock. Pretty short sighted imo as without those keeping clubs alive there would be no players to compete in National Leagues or Championships.

what was stopping anyone from "watlzing' or going on ticketmaster ? nothing! , im not a club member but I'll have no problem getting a ticket for the final if we get to it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 789 ✭✭✭thebronze14

Aren't you just fantastic😂😂 Joined my club this year for tickets being honest. Probably won't bother next year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,735 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

You would have little chance getting a ticket for the final by waltzing into Suoer Valu or from Ticketmaster, so your options would be paying over the odds or using "pull".

At least you are honest in that you do not see the clubs as the games bedrock, but then it appears you have never stopped to consider that without the clubs there would be no finals or any other inter county matches at any level for you to watch.

McGonagle back in the 26 for Aaron Doherty. Unchanged starting team named.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,735 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

Good to have him back. That extra bit of bulk will help against Meath.

I wonder will McGuinness be tempted to start Jason McGee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,746 ✭✭✭downthemiddle

It depends on how they see the impact of Gray off the bench for Meath. You would think that Jason would match up well with him physically.

That was more or less my thinking as well that maybe McGuinness would force their hand on Gray by starting McGee.

I really feel we need to get behind the boys and bring the roars to Croke Park. Be another player for them.

I think the Meath fans are going to go wild and we need to be louder.

    C'Mon Donegal!!!!!

There’s going to be a massive Meath support, my daughter works in the County & anyone with a pulse are rearing to go. I hope our fans travel in numbers. I know it’s an expensive outing, especially for families, but the team deserve our backing & hopefully there’s one more outing for us at the end of the month.

For me, while we have to respect that fact that Meath have beaten Dublin, Kerry and Galway, as relevant is that Meath failed to win promotion from Division 2 and couldn't beat Louth in the Leinster final. The last time a team that didn't play in Division 1 or had been promoted to Division 1 won an All Ireland Semi Final was Mayo in 2006 as far as I know. So Donegal have been playing at a higher level for longer. We let ourselves down in last year's semi-final and the disappointment of losing that game was increased after watching Galway's pathetic display in the final. A huge opportunity missed, and I think that will be the motivation for this team tomorrow.

A lot of our players are playing very well. Oisin, Shane and Conor the last day, Brendan McCole and Ciaran Moore against Mayo, Finbarr in nearly every game. Shaun Patton has been immense since coming back, hopefully the 2 week break has allowed him to heal further. If Caolan McGonagle is fit, our starting 15 and bench are even stronger. Conor O'Donnell and Michael Murphy didn't feature in last year's semi-final, Finbarr has been a huge addition. Our panel is stronger than it was last year. We have played in fits and starts this year, there hasn't been 70 minutes where we have been on it from start to finish, but when we have been good, we have been very very good. Meath will have their moments tomorrow, but I think and I hope that we'll have enough to win.

These opportunities don't come up much. In Jim and Michael, we could not ask for 2 finer men to lead us tomorrow.

    Up Donegal.

Not a good look that we lost to this team Kerry are beating!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭babybuilder

Indeed. Tyrone's build up play was too slow and they seemed to have to use up more energy than Kerry who got off their scores a lot easier. I'd imagine Meath will adopt a similar pattern of play to Kerry. Will the conditions conserve their energy better? I think it's a 50:50 game.

meath beat the lives out of that kerry team , horseracing form guides never work in the gaa,

Hi guys. My first game in Dublin for a while. Any tips on parking? I’ll be coming down the m1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,102 ✭✭✭babybuilder

Impressive show today. Thought we dominated the middle third for most of the match. Meath were very poor second half. Kerry will be a different challenge
