Good point on the potential to overheat. You'd want to have some venting and the climate in the car to be kept at reasonable levels. Maybe the small side fridge would be a safer bet. Smaller, but uses only wasted space.

Not that I won't eat meat and poultry from other countries, but I hold the strong belief that Ireland and to a large extent, the UK have the best animal produce in the world. I'm not talking about eating alligators, or tigers…just the usual, chicken/turkey/duck, cow, pig, sheep etc. Not to mention our fish!

It makes you appreciate it more when you get home. I got to about 7 days in the US before my body could not take the food anymore and I started skipping meals. After 2 weeks with lots of walking, I had gone down notches on my belt.

Europe is not so bad. I think France get most of their meat from us anyway.

My service request has expanded. The glovebox does not open. Can't believe I missed that on collection day. I remember not being able to find the option to open it, moved onto something else and then forgot to go back to it. But I think I would just be asked to log a service request anyway.

Still waiting for a response from them. How long do they typically take to review a service request?

I had a home cooked steak in France. It wasn't great 😣

The glove box is a common problem first time. I actually had the same issue on both test drives in two different Ys. I thought they were locked out for test drives.

You need to pry it open with a bit of pressure and then press the open button. The seal apparently gets tight after sitting for months. You need to break the seal and it should work fine after that.

Do yourselves a favour and get some rim protectors 😟

Glovebox a known issue. In saying that, how it made it out of the factory like that amazes me.

Had mine replaced by ranger service yesterday. Magnets now release to open the door. Was a few weeks before they could get to me.

Picked mine up today. Everything appears to be in good order. I even managed to find a hidden section in the boot I haven't seen anyone pointing out. It's below the hard shelf toward the rear seats. Perfect nook for the emergency kit, some first aid and maybe puncture repair equipment.

Here she is. AWD and home. Time to tax it.

I’m nearly sure that small section is on the older model too.

    Safe driving

Unfortunately yes. Turned a corner and there was a big truck half way on my side of the road. Tried to get as far over as possible, alas too far over and nicked the kerb, only slightly but that is all it takes. I had actually intended to come to a complete stop. I took my foot off the accelerator but it took too long to stop. I actually coasted in to the kerb which is a bit dumb. Thinking back, I think I had actually forgotten there was a brake pedal 😟

6 years in a skoda and not a scratch on the wheels. 2 weeks in a Tesla 😟

I'm going to order some touch up paint and rim covers. The black wheels really make the rash stand out, it's not something I can learn to live with.

p.s congratulations on collection day. Let us know how thst santa sack of accessories works out!

Happened me first week in M3 when I was testing autopilot on bend. Took 2 inches of paint off the rear rim. I got paint repair kit and it sorted that. Soon after my covers arrived and I replaced those anytime they got damaged. Great for protecting the wheels. My OH clipped the kerb at speed last year and there was no damage to the wheel. The wheel cover was lost, but I kept spares.

That's where I ordered mine for the MY. Expecting delivery this week, along with most of my Santa sack stuff. S3XY knob is on the desk here, but waiting for the stalk from Teslaunch to install that at same time.

I feel bad now for giving out about the service centre. Got a call from a really nice English girl. She gave me some trouble shooting steps, went to do some diagnostics based on the logs and was back to me within an hour.

I've two issues. One is the boot doesnt close on first attempt, but only when using rhe button. This is a known issue and will be fixed in a firmware update.

2nd is the glovebox won't open. She advised me not to pry it open, they'll get someone to fix it. Not mad urgent to be honest, I know you can't fit much in it anyway.

Wondering now did you just get a Friday car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭reaction238

Yeah seems like it. So long as it's all fixable I'm not too bothered. I'd be more pissed off if there were rattles or misaligned panels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

You don't have to pry it open as such. What you do is apply some opening pressure to help break the seal. While doing that, you press the glove box open button and it will open. You only need to do it once. Check

    youtube.

Yes that is what I meant. I watched some YouTube videos, it seems straight forward. But she told me not to do anything, they'll get it fixed. Someone mentioned.they got a replacement glovebox. I'd prefer that to be honest.

The glovebox is known alright. Either the magnet is too strong or the software doesn’t release it properly.

Took her down to Limerick today. It said it would need 20% of the battery to get down and 20% to get home. I drove mostly at 110kmph but a few sections at 120 and had the AC blasting all the way. The guesstimates seem bang on in fairness as I landed back with 60% on the nose.

Between that and the drive from Dublin the vast majority of my driving is on motorway. 100% change sets the range at 439km. And I've no reason to doubt that.

I've actually found it's way worse if I just want to pop 3km down the road to the shops I could lose 6-7km in range.

Getting used to it much more now. Can find the options with the long press of the left button so you don't need to mess as much in the screen.

Cruise control and lane steering at 110kmph in the left lane is great. Not so much at 120kmph in the right lane. That's scarier.

The radio is still driving me cracked. Kids watching Netflix in the back and the volume is low so you have to put it way up. The second they back out to go to Disney plus the radio comes on at near full whack !!

And I can unlock the charge cable without going to the main screen and pressing the charge port icon. Not sure what I'm missing, the app doesn't unlock it.

What functions are you looking for when driving that requires you to long press the steering wheel buttons?

Charging unlock, stop the charge first in the app then try unlock it.

Also, change the GOM to %. You’ll thank yourself.

in app you should see two options “stop charging” “unlock charge port” and by pressing in sequence it should work. Alternatively a new feature is by pulling door handle of left rear (nearest to charge port) and holding for 3 seconds it stops charging and unlocks so that you don’t have to go to screen in car

If someone is looking to buy, you should know that UK Tesla is now doing 2000 GBP contribution to PCP so maybe similar discount will be approved for Ireland. I think this could be related to fact that larger batteries might be coming as on China market there were some increases in range for both type of batteries.

I've the cable plugged in as I charge from 2-5am so when I get out in the morning at 8 it's not charging but when I want to detach the cable I've to open the door, go to the screen and hit open on screen.

If i unlock the car or hit open charge port in the app it doesn't unlock.

There is the option to pull the manual release in the boot that does open it but then you have to wait for the boot to open.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,847 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

When the cable is plugged in and the charge is complete, open the APP and at the bottom, select the Unlock Charge Port button.

Door handle trick works. Still a bit mad that it doesn't unlock the cable when you unlock the car.

Noticed my first scratch too 😭. Only spotted it today but it had some small hand prints near it so I have narrowed in on the culprits being one of the kids. Hopefully it buffs out
