    Couldn't figure best place, Mods?

    Just bought a " 4G + LTE " modem, peeps. (No isp. Another story) He said it would 'practically certainly' get me on line. The man was clearly some deity. Because here I am! On my computer! 😁

    Bit sketchy though. Died, last night. Been iffy, today. And, I'm so back logged my mind's spinning! Tried getting at a Manual. It had a bad moment …

    Anyone spare a word, please? I don't expect a typed tutorial. Just, like; ' I've got one … ' Opinion? Anything?

    All I have is It. A generic password. A 'Top Up #'. And I'm told it's on Eir? €20 every 28 days? Suits me! Think he said I can pay in Post office or on line? Guy, in the shop, put the sim in and made it good.

    (Ok. Disclosure: Yes. I Am on prescribed medicine, at the moment. Making me a bit slow. Sorry. And don't be bloody rude! 😁)

    Thanks, Peeps!

    Do you have an actual question regarding the modem you are using?

    If you do, share the make and model and the issue you are having as otherwise any response do your OP will be just a vague opinion.

    @banie01 .

    The make and model are the title of my first post. I would be happy to be offered even the " vague opinions " of fellow users.

    That, I should hope, may open a discussion.

    If, perhaps, an actual Moderator, as also addressed in my first post, should see a problem with any of my posts? They might address me. Maybe one even has hands on experience of this modem?

    That's all I'm asking.

    "4G LTE" isn't the make not model of a modem, it is rather the bands that that modem operates in. Bands that almost every modem and mobile phone released since 2012 or so also operate in.

    You have made no mention of the manufacturer, nor the model number. Your description of the make and model as "4G LTE" is analogous to asking someone for assistance with your "blue car".

    Yes, we know you have a car, we all know how a car works but if you are having an issue with your car and are relying on it's being "blue" as a path to finding a fix? You won't get much immediately relevant help

    I get that you want a "discussion" but, about what? If you haven't got a Make/model or indeed a specific query? Surely any discussion is better suited to the mobile broadband forum?

    You might have questions in your local mast, your potential for faster speeds using an external antenna? The answers to those rely on folk knowing the make/model of your modem, your general location and so on.

    " "4G LTE" isn't the make not model of a modem "

    Thank you! I'm sorry. I thought it as like saying, eg. " Audi A6 Avant e-tron ". That's a car. Others, with experience of it, might have responded, simply offering me their own(ers) opinion.

    " Surely any discussion is better suited to the mobile broadband forum? "

    And I must Thank you, again. You see? In my original post, I actually Stated;

    " Couldn't figure best place, Mods? "

    You, however, have found me first. On your say so ~ unless a Moderator turns up and advises me otherwise? ~ I'll go and ask my question where ye suggest.

    You can certainly continue your thread here I should think, with the added detail of what the make and model of your modem is. (Not that I'm a mod nor would I presume to tell you otherwise).

    Glad my analogy re: the car has helped regarding your not sharing make/model. That info is usually on a label on the back of standalone modems, and on USB stick type modems, it is accessible via your PC's device manager or sometimes it is on a small label under the tab that covers the SIM slot.

    Discussing generalities around mobile broadband reception is honestly a waste of time outside the basics of. 1. What's coverage like for your network at your location? 2. What modem are you using? 3. Is your modem a standalone device capable of using an external antenna, or a usb stick? 4. What level of insulation is your location fitted with? In particular, foil backed or bonded metal beads? Also your windows, are they triple glazed or titanium oxide self cleaning? As the effect of metal backed insulation products can turn a home without an external antenna into a faraday cage. It's why ComReg maps are outdoor coverage only.

    There people who would only love to help you with any issues you might be having. But, that helps relies on knowing what the issue is.
