Dublin were a bad 3rd in Leinster, that says it all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭biglad40isback

captain hindsight here but kk suffered same as limerick v the 14.

I feel after the red Hayes should have went ff. Hannon on at 6. Reidy to cover back mf.

As Dublin would have to sit back then every short puck out could have went in to Hayes. Goals would have come.

Ya it's a waste now to have your extra man hanging around the backs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,644 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

dublin could have done with one in the first 20 minutes yesterday , although they were too honest in their defending and let cork do what they wanted

Hopefully they all watched that and thought long and hard bout it! Probably looks even worse now but I think we'd have been beaten in the semi if we got over dublin, something not right about the setup this year.

We got caught, end of story. Limk will have to learn from that, this year is gone now. When a team is not motivated that's what happens regardless of the personnel.

The other team will just drop an extra man back. I think the best thing is keep him around the half back line and work it short to use the extra man to create the overlap. Tipp winning this reminded me of Tipp beating Wexford in 2019.

Depends on the team. We had pinpoint accurate Quaid giving short ball tk a man who can't do what he can.

If you send men up and they keeping dropping back you have neutered them and the game is won. That's if you are a team like Limerick who trusts their backs man on man.

Kilkenny made an awful mistake of having Reid as the spare man whose distribution was woeful.

Unlucky Limerick.....some poor shot choices and execution cost them in the end.

Kildare just had that bit extra....a team of their quality shouldn't be in the Tailteann Cup really.

Overall a decent year for the footballers... there's a fairly good Limerick crowd up here so hopefully that will drive things on a bit at grass roots level

Flipping like mad between heartbroken and proud.

Hopefully they can make this mean something and go into next year chests out.

Brilliant effort by the footballers could very easily have won it,they can look forward with confidence.

That post buzzer chance was Hollywood stuff. I was sure they were gonna bury it and send me to the Rotunda with heat stroke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,694 ✭✭✭High bike

Yeah was a great chance but i suppose Kildare had that little bit more quality and the 2 pointers killed us.

Footballers gave it a fair rattle today. Worked their way back from difficult positions on a couple of occasions and unlucky not to force extra time. Very admirable team with a great spirit. I'll make a concerted effort to get to a few more games in 26. They deserve the support.

Kildare probably had that little bit more quality but Limerick looked like a better coached team. They'll be heartbroken but still a great season. Staying in Division 3 and making a Munster final would be great achievement next year.

a lot of people seem surprised with the limerick effort today , i am not , limerick nearly beat kildare a few years ago in division 2 of the national league, fair play to jimmy lee to take on the job when no one else wanted it it seemed and picked up limerick football from a bad place 2 years ago ,

its a same they didnt win but they will go into the league with a real chance of promotion next year, it will be between ourselves , westmeath laois and limerick for second place after down i think

what surprises me the most is i know the team coach from west clare , i was surprised he was given the role at the start of the year , but it seems hes done a fine job , some very good individual players on this side , james naughton is excellent

We were terrible in that league game. Totally out of our depth for the whole tournament.

Great performance from Limk and a great game to watch. Missed a few easy chances which was the difference between the teams and Kildare were more efficient in taking their 2 pointers. On fine summer days you need 2/3 forwards capable of kicking 2 pointers with consistency but Limerick's counter attacking play was great to watch.

if ever a team were in transition it was that night , i still feel sorry for the young lad in goals that was taken off after 25 minutes , on the other side of that , i watched the game with a mate of mine from west limerick , he was bulling that jimmy lee got the job and called them the lee maffia , "when i went to school with him he was a prop" or " what dose he know about inter county football , look at his ears if you think i am wrong" 😂🤣 jimmy has answered him back in droves since , i was very impressed with the rathkeele pitch that night , they could do with a car park though

tipp are the all 2025 Ireland champions but they didn’t beat us in 2025. All i got to say.

Congratulations to Tipp today. Fantastic performance. No-one I spoke to last week predicted they'd beat Cork by fifteen points.

Predicting championship hurling results, you might as well be using a crystal ball.

Thats what Clare said in 2018. It's as pathetic now as it was then

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭biglad40isback

Tipp went through the pain of a bad few years to bring in new blood and it paid its dividends eventually. Dropping barrett had people thinking had cahill had lost it. They were not fancied to even get out of munster.

Kiely needs the same. Big decisions ahead selection wise who hopefully will bring hunger

That cork team bar a few on the road nearly as long as limerick and they actually have 2 outfield starters over 35.

Who has cork beat, beat tipp, drew with clare, trashed by Limerick, beat Dublin. Second half the worst you will ever see in an all ireland final

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,925 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

You forgot to mention they beat Limerick and won the league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 399 ✭✭dvega

Also forgot to mention Tipp beat waterford, galway and kilkenny
