Shocking poor lineup this year. Not hearing good reports from those onsite.

Seemingly the pop take over of the festival and apparent sell out to the record labels has led to a big change in the crowd and atmosphere of the festival.

Seems like a gradual decline in the festival.

    Very disappointing to see.

Folk are wondering how the Beeb will edit the Kneecap set.

They'll have their work cut out with the Bob Vylan set as well.

Weezer, Pulp, very good today. John Fogerty has lost the snarl in his voice but still an excellent musician.

Enjoyed Wunderhorse and Wet Leg yesterday. I watched three or four 1975 songs but they do nothing for me. They're like a 1980's pop group, complete with sax.

High hopes for Neil Young tonight.

Excuse my ignorance but who is RAYE?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 209 ✭✭Marlay

Looks like a small crowd for Beth Gibbons. I guess everyone is at Neil Young.

Not for me but corker of a voice.

Three times Grammy nominated and won 6 Brit Awards last year, so acclaimed if nothing else.

Bit of a lull this evening - a lot of music for bed-wetters (IMO) - Tom Odell, Haim etc.

Basically waiting for Caribou at 11pm.. always excellent!

Been watching Amyl & The Sniffers and now Nova Twins on BBC4. Rockin'.

nah it’s a good to great lineup.
Glastonbury has been “popular music” since the 90’s.
great that the festival is embracing young and popular artists, giving them correct billings and bringing a new younger audience to the festival.
Good mix of nostalgia acts and fresh current ones.
The old folks have had their time, good to let fresh air in

Beth Gibbons on Park stage now is quality, will check out more of her stuff next week. Don't think my younger festival going self would be at it at 930pm Saturday night though, I'd prob be in some dance tent somewhere buck-leppin about the place.

I wonder how the Flowers got on, would loved to have seen them. Never listened to Pulp really but that was a decent performance. Ezra Collective very good. Roll on Caribou. Gurriers & Future Islands tomorrow, maybe Royel Otis.

Think Amy Winehouse without the drugs and charisma.

RAYE is amazing….. seen her before at the Proms, an outstanding artist & band..

and she’s only gone and made me get something stuck in my eye for a second there…

Awful shite, you'd wonder how some acts get prime time billing

Nah, it's grand like - middle of the road, definitely not poor but absolutely nowhere near great.

Lineup has absolutely no bearing on which age group will covet tickets the most - if you fancy Glasto the following year, you'll be in the mix on the Sunday morning regardless - as you've no clue who'll be playing (I've never had anyone in my circle give up their ticket because they didn't like the lineup).

    Enjoying Raye, some vocal range.

Its probably linked somewhat to the f*ckin enormous crowd out in front of her at the moment

Saw the end of Pulp. Great showman

Just seems pointless listening to 2 or 3 of thd offerings on BBC and writing the thing off as shite when even only going by the mainstream BBC coverage, you could have been off listening to Bob Vylan or Amyl or Beth or Jarvis or Ezra Collective or whatever. HUNDREDS of other things happening at any moment in some little nook somewhere. I'm 100% watching this thinking it's time to finally get my lazy arse in gear 2027.

Not sure if true but apparently Kneecap were asked for a comment on Rod Stewart: ‘well he’s older than Israel isn’t he? ‘ was the reply.

Between Raye on BBC1 and Beth on BBC4, I'm not feeling it. Longing for iPlayer access

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 814 ✭✭✭FernandoTorres

Raye writes all her own music, is independent of a record label, has an amazing voice and seems like a decent person. I get you may not like her music but to say she's "shite" is ridiculous!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,808 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I don’t get this Raye wan either. It seems to be music that only women like. I’d prefer the more poppy girls like Dua Lipa set last year, and even the edgier Charlie xcx later tonight. This Raye wan is too much London show band. She would be well suited to doing a Bond song. .

If that's great music, then we are in trouble.

Plenty of great music from new acts around but they have played to the Record companies and totally sold out.

This year's festival won't be remembered that's for sure.
