Don't even waste your time. It will be fine and will settle it's self.

Sowed the 22nd of May, spread seed with the fert spinner. Rolled pre and post sowing. Didn't get fert until today because the weather broke and it was too wet to get back on it and it was a bit of a rush job to get the seed in. Amazed by how well it came and a lot of the ground had been rooted with a digger so you'd imagine it would be hungry enough.

Question for anyone into tillage. I was interested in sowing a fields to barley. I use allot of straw over the winter and feed weanlings. So I'm thinking of becoming self sufficient so to speak. The problem with this idea is that I have no clue about growing crops like barley.

Field is 10acres, I have a power harrow with Pneumatic seeder. Question is, could I spray off field and overseed with barley and is it possible to preserve barley at home. I don't have a silo

Too late to set this year. You set it 3-5cm deep. 10 acres is a good bit of Barley you ate looking at 30ish tons.

You can crimp ot and get it put in a sausage not sure if the cost

    Hey lads,

looking for some adive. I reseeded 5 acres last July. I would have done what i thought was a reasonable job of taking care of it with slurry fertiliser and lime and grazed it with weanlings last November when we had the good spell. I've just finished lifting the second cut of bales off it but it hasn't tillered very well and there's large bare patches consistently through the field, like i could step into one and my boot wouldn't be touching a blade of grass.

What remedial work should i look to carry out on it? Would it be worth buying a few bags of grass seed and hand throwing it throughout the field before it gets slurry next week or what would ye advise?

    Thanks
