People were fleeing Israel on yachts. Their own government was preventing the general population from fleeing. I wouldnt have alot of sympathy as 84% of Israelis supported the action in Gaza so when you get a taste yourself. Tough shìt.

Even the IDF lost significant ground in southern Lebanon, having to retreat back in to Israel.

I'm surprised Iran agreed to stop before squeezing the Israelis to stop attacking Gaza. I know they were hurting but they had the zionists in a sticky position.

Only the white man can be trusted with nukes apparently. Get the Dulux colour chart out to decide if they're for defense or terrorism.

The round-ups and executions have started

    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce8zv8j563po

"Shaken by the scale and precision of these killings, authorities have been targeting anyone suspected of working with foreign intelligence, saying it is for the sake of national security.

But many fear this is also a way to silence dissent and tighten control over the population.

During the 12-day conflict, Iranian authorities executed three people accused of spying for Israel. On Wednesday - just one day after the ceasefire - three more individuals were executed on similar charges.

Officials have since announced the arrest of hundreds of suspects across the country on accusations of espionage. State television has aired alleged confessions from several detainees, purportedly admitting to collaboration with Israeli intelligence.

Human rights groups and activists have expressed fears over the latest developments, citing Iran's longstanding practice of extracting forced confessions and conducting unfair trials. There are concerns that more executions may follow."

It’s no coincidence that 4 out of 5 of the permanent members of the UN Security Council are white European/American. Also all nuclear powers.
7.6% of the population. 80% of the votes.

Iran will be asked to hand over it's enriched Uranium according to the Israeli defence minister in an interview aired last night.

The European countries which are party to the JCPOA will be going nuts soon enough, threatening sanctions and everything as the clock keeps ticking down.

As to assassinating Iran's leader he also said they will try again.

For that you have to conveniently ignore the fact that China, India and Pakistan also all have nukes without sanctions related to their weapons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

India and Pakistan were sanctioned over their development of nuclear weapons.
China tested its first nuclear weapon prior to the NPT. All the permanent security council members were the 5 declared nuclear powers before the NPT.

Fair enough regarding the (short lived) sanctions but my point stands that it isn't related to skin colour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

The NPT was established after the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council had nuclear weapons. The 5 members were 4 white majority countries and China representing a fifth of the world’s population. Who is permitted to have nuclear weapons and who isn’t is determined by great power politics.

Just like seats on the UNSC. Taiwan (a right wing military dictatorship under martial law) held the Chinese seat on the security council until 1971.

so what are you saying? A theocracy that openly funds and supplies terrorist organisations should have nuclear weapons because, you know, equality and all that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,142 ✭✭✭threeball

I'd be far more worried about Israel having nukes than Iran. Israel have a history of attacking its neighbours and further afield. Zionists openly discuss killing any US President who do not align with their aims. Any country willing to kill the leader of their biggest ally is not one I'd want to see with a nuke.

Irans regime are a bunch of kunts but they have not attacked or bombed other countries and Iran itself was forced into alignments with Russia because of the hostile front presented by both the US and Israel. Had Trump not torn up the NPT in 2018 we wouldn't be in this place. Just look at the graph below for the period after Obamas deal and when Trump ended it. Look whats happened since.

    Untitled Image

So Trump created this situation and then bombed them without congressional approval. Iran would be mad not to want nukes and to be honest with two headers like Trump and Netanyahu bearing down on them, they're probably well entitled to them.

Lessons are been learned by countries all over the world. Get a nuke. Only way to stop nuclear nations from invading you.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

No I am not saying that. What I do know is that the only state to bomb civilians with nuclear weapons is a democracy and that all nuclear armed countries have funded terrorists.

Iran don’t bomb other countries(Israel aside) they get their minions to do it, like Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis.
It isn’t as much about who they will use them on, it’s who they will give them to. They are aligned with a lot of loonies who would quite happily throw them around, safe in the knowledge their 72 virgins are waiting for them when they get **** thrown back at them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 768 ✭✭✭Randycove

    and? What is your point.
are you saying we need more nukes or less? Or just give them to anyone that isn’t a western country, because the West are bad?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

The Iranians are Shia. The whole 72 virgins thing is largely western anti Muslim propaganda and is especially irrelevant in terms of Shia Muslims.

China? North Korea? India? Pakistan? All of them possess nuclear weapons.

There has been a concerted effort on the part of a few nasty posters on here to attempt to paint those who oppose Iran as racists, openly so in some cases, including the posters you replied to.

    Its ok-

Israel and the US will not bomb Iran just for killing their own people-

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,142 ✭✭✭threeball

Iran have no interest in attacking the West. We've been nothing but a plague to them since the US and UK installed Israel and the Shah. If the yanks and UK keep insisting on imposing their will on countries like Iran they will revolt and fight back. Same way Ukraine won't roll over for Russia.

The US should recognise Palestine as a sovereign state and require a realignment of the borders rather than Veto it every time it arises at the UN whilst at the same time getting assurances from Hamas and Iran they will cease their attacks once Israel is prepared to take their foot of the Palestinians necks. Allow Iran back into world trade and de-escalate the entire situation.

The middle eastern regimes are what they are. Its not up to us to impose our world view on them. Over time their own people will either revolt or the country will evolve through trade the same as we did in the west many years ago. As I said before, Netanyahu, Putin and the US are the only real threats to world peace.

You will have to define what a “nasty” Poster is. Is it someone who doesn’t share your opinion, like “nasty” journalists asking “nasty” questions when Donald Trump gets caught out lying?

There is absolutely racism involved in portraying the Iranian people as “other”, “mad” “irrational”.

Here are some of Netenyahu’s statements on Iran

“Iran is the greatest threat to humanity.”

“Iran is a wolf in wolf’s clothing.”

“Iran is ruled by a fanatical regime that believes in global jihad.”

    And Lindsey Graham

“If you want to stop these crazy people in Iran, you have to convince them that you’re willing to end their way of life.”

You have been to Iran multiple times as you have said in your posts?

Would you characterise Iranian people as mad, irrational, crazy, threatening?

Multo autem ad rem magis pertinet quallis tibi vide aris quam allis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,590 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

I have been to Iran twice.

I would characterise the Iranian regime, the Revolutionary Guard and the religious leaders as mad, irrational, crazy and threatening, as I have done throughout this thread.

That doesn't make me a racist the way you and others have been portraying it, some to hide their own form of racism. It has been illuminating to see that when a regime worse than Israel's comes along, some have been unable to drop their hatred of Israel and have defended that far worse regime. That is irrational and driven by something else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,626 ✭✭✭brickster69

How can you have a regime worse than Israel who has been committing a live streamed genocide for nearly 2 years and are now in the process of starving the rest to death ?

"if you get on the wrong train, get off at the nearest station, the longer it takes you to get off, the more expensive the return trip will be."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,462 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

Well “worse” than Israel is very subjective. The Iranian leader is not wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Iranian army has not just opened an investigation of war crimes after their soldiers admitted being ordered to shoot and bomb unarmed hungry civilians queuing for food.

Like the way you can separate the Iranian people and the Iranian regime. It is possible to be appalled at the actions of the Israeli regime while having a great love for Jewish people.
Do you not see these parallels how your hatred for the Iranian regime doesn’t mean hatred for the Iranian people and other’s hatred of the Israeli regime doesn’t mean hatred of the Israeli people?

    Can you acknowledge that?

By the way these quotes are from Israeli politicians and government members. Are they sane and non threatening?

“I think the village of Huwara needs to be wiped out. I think the State of Israel should do it.”

    “Palestinians are beasts, not humans.”

“The IDF must attack with full force and not stop until the enemy is completely defeated. Gaza should be conquered, and those who resist must be exterminated.”

“We must eliminate all fighting-age males in Gaza.”

    • “Within half a year, the population of Gaza … will be ‘totally destroyed.’”

    • “Palestinians” are “subhumans.”
“They called for killing all adult men in Gaza … ‘erase Jenin.’”

    • “The Gaza Strip should be flattened, and … one sentence for everyone there – death. … Wipe the Gaza Strip off the map. There are no innocents.”

    • every child … in Gaza is an enemy.”

The absolute hypocrisy of your pearl clutching at the suggestion that there are potential Islamophobic motivations behind people giving Israel a free pass for that which they criticise Iran.....and bouncing straight back with the absolute textbook hasbara insinuation that anyone critical of the Israeli state is antisemitic.

Far worse regime? I'd call them two cheeks of the same arse myself.

For the record, I've been to Tel Aviv a lot more than twice.
