    Hi,

We are considering moving to Summerhill and wanted to ask what the area is like? Any issues etc?
    Thanks!

I find the people some of the rudest, ignorant and unmannerly people I've ever met.

Are you moving to the village or outskirts? Don't expect anyone in the village to give

way in a car or let you out. Nobody will speak to you unless you are Summerhill born

    and bred.

Shaw's pub is 100%, lovely food and staff. Don't bother going into the bar though as

everyone will look at you but nobody will speak to you.

2 local shops are good with lovely friendly helpful staff. Nice community centre that runs

    various events regularly.

Some of the other area's around Summerhill are much nicer, Enfield, Rathmolyon, Rathcore etc.

Traffic can be bad in the mornings and evenings and it's like everyone is trying to get home

like their life depends on it.

There are probably people from Summerhill that will shoot me down but as an "outsider"

I wouldn't live there. Probably fine if you like to keep to yourself but don't expect locals

to welcome you with open arms.

the place Is full of crack heads

    Constantly robbing houses and cars.

Open drug dealers and round the clock

    Anti social behaviour going on.

thanks for the response. Looking at houses on the outskirts of the village.
    Would you consider it rough?

    very rough indeed

No not rough at all. You seldom see gangs of teenagers etc. hanging around

but they are gradually starting to appear in small numbers. I wouldn't live too

far away and visit friends there every few days, they say the exact same. Unless

you are Summerhill born and bred, you are not welcome. It has it's good points

as in it's nice and clean, good medical centre but they are not taking on any new

patients. Approx. 2 weeks to get an appointment if you are a patient of theirs, can't

blame them for the waiting times though.

There are some nice pubs/places to eat not far from it, Hatton's, Quinn's not far from

Trim, The Hatchet in between Summerhill and Dunboyne. Nice golf clubs if that is your thing.

Royal canal cycleway isn't far either.

Overall it is a niceish area, any outsider looking in would think it's lovely. Would I choose

    to live there………. no.
