The Dubs are up in arms! 😂

Do the Dublin footballers play the majority of their games at home? Yes.

Did they play every single championship game at home for a decade? Yes.

Do Dublin travel in big numbers to neutral games? No.

So a Dublin football supporter discussing travel issues is like a bald man discussing hairstyles. 😅 Especially when they don't even know what an away game is!

yes they are indeed. I did it for leinster final with my niece! i do wonder what the reasoning is in not having juvenile tickets throughout the ground?

Not directed at you here, but people who are proper supporters and think their team will reach an AI final can get a season ticket and take the stress out of it

No Dub here. Im a Louth man and my post history in this thread will show it.

I just happen to be able to spot an absolute spoofer like yourself. Though to be fair, you are making it pretty easy

Lads of the 8 teams playing this weekend Dublin are the only one with home advantage. It's not even a debate so let's not dwell on it.

I thought we were done with all this Dublin shte now that they are back in the pack.

Don't listen to Off The Ball but I did see a segment where Darren O Sullivan and Colm Boyle were talking about the standard of Football games in Croker compared to the games in tight pitches.

Point was made that the games in Croker this year not been of the general good standard.

Be interesting see how these 4 games go.

TBF the Dubs brought a good crowd up to the Athletic Grounds for the league game at the beginning of March.

Dessie Farrell has a contract (his original contract was extended) until the end of the season with Dublin. That could happen at the weekend. But if Dublin win the All Ireland, would he be asked to do another stint. Or does he want to? He is not well got apparently with many Dublin supporters.

Earlier in the season, the speculation was which Brennan would get the job, the Louth or the Meath one. Robbie Brennan's stock will rise even higher if Meath beat Galway. But he has a three year contract with Meath. Ger Brennan was the favourite when Louth won Leinster. But would Dublin take a chance on him now? Interesting times ahead.

    a) Would amazed at Dessie staying because that would mean would have won same

    b) Dublin issues are the same virtually every game, the team that badly needs a revamp.

I suppose it depends how loyal DCB are to Farrell and obviously if Farrell wants to stay. But to be honest long term I will be disappointed if Brennan does not get the Dublin job, He deserves it. Has been impressive. Also easier to a revamp as a new manager.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Wait! Playing at home is not an advantage don't ya know? Or wait again! Croke Park is not the Dublin footballers home ground, it's Parnell Park where Dublin have played 2 championship games there in more than 50 years. 😆

Ive heard of 10 year waiting lists for Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,504 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Not as bad as what it used to be at least season tickets etc are at least an option, Although there is a waiting list Jayus years ago tickets for big games were real nod and a wink stuff. It still exists a bit, but it has at least improved. But obviously could be improved.

I am getting worn out with all the matches getting real enjoyment out of this years championship, even if the Dubs footballers are not playing well. I was hoarse the last day after that hurling/football double header. Not used to be having to do as much roaring and shouting.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Pretty much. Even in the hurling quarter final and now semi final the Dublin hurlers will have home advantage. And I say this as someone who wants to see the Dublin hurlers make the AI final.

Robbie Brennan is Meath first so I doubt he would depart from the Meath job and take the Dublin job if it was available. Robbie always supported Meath and was raised there as far as I know .

Do you by any chance run a comic book store? F**k me, even if you were right (you're not, not a single person agrees with the long winded shite you're talking), it wouldn't change the fact that you're more boring than Fr Purcell

Gers contract was 2 years with an extra 1. Not sure how the extra one is triggered. We obviously want him to stay. But ye never know, he may have a decision to make. If he does go, I'd wish him all the best. I'd just hope he tells the County Board good and early and not leave us hanging like auld Mickey did

But I thought the "wide open spaces of Croke Park" thing was a myth

Did someone post something here recently enough to show that there are other grounds with pitches bigger than Croke Park. ?

When I posted earlier, I had not seen this article which is in the Drogheda and Dundalk papers, also in the Irish Independent paywalled. The headline in the Argus is changed to "Brennan tight-lipped on future with Louth". I think he is on his way out. I have a few thoughts, but they belong in the Louth thread.

Ah I saw that interview live. It was in the aftermath of the defeat, its not the time to make any commitment either way. He says he wants to stay and then the county board has the upper hand etc. I wouldnt read too much in to that interview

For Sunday the 3 front rows around the pitch were just put on sale on Ticketmaster because they're confident the few remaining upper tier seats will go. That's about 3k pitch side seats and they're going fast if anyone's interested.

There should still be a few club returns to go up over the next few days.

Terrace tickets still on sale and the nally not open yet. Wouldn't be surprised if the nally goes on sale but doubt it'll sellout. Pretty much confirms an attendance above 75k should be expected.

The Saturday fixtures are not far behind but surprisingly the hill itself isn't sold out and the nally hasn't been opened yet. Are Dublin fans becoming an endangered species?

The tight confines of Cusack Park in Ennis is the biggest.

It never suited for instance the Limerick hurlers because they like the wide open spaces of the smaller Croke Park pitch.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the Sunday Game, or if we had a weekly Gaa magazine programme that did a segment, where they measure the county grounds so it could put and end once and for all to the punditry drivel of "the wide open spaces" or "the tight pitch won't suit them". I see some pundits now are saying that such and such a pitch plays bigger than it actually is, usually Croke Park.

On Croke Park the surface is a disaster when there is heavy rain due to a percentage of it being synthetic, it becomes a skating rink. I hope the weather is dry at the weekend or it could be the ruination of what has the potential to be four great games.

I think these days it's more likely a podcast would cover it and I would love if one of the better ones had topical episodes in the off season instead of shutting down.

Would be great if someone like the OTB hurling and football pods got together and covered stuff like the state of county grounds or the the impact of modern population movements on the impact of the club and county game.

On a side note Primetime covered the fall of Dublin Parnell's last night.

Each to their own but those first few rows of the lower tier are awful seats imo. I sat in row D, dead centerfield for an All Ireland final replay before and thought my seat in the upper Davin for the drawn game was far preferable in comparison

Outside of that, good to see both games looking like 70k+. Should be an epic weekend
