The White House acknowledged the existence of the assessment but said they disagreed with it.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told CNN in a statement: “This alleged assessment is flat-out wrong and was classified as ‘top secret’ but was still leaked to CNN by an anonymous, low-level loser in the intelligence community. The leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump, and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran’s nuclear program. Everyone knows what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000 pound bombs perfectly on their targets: total obliteration.”

And of course the Trump administration don't believe the assessment of their own intelligence community.... Again.

Rather than admit the possibility that not all the facilities were destroyed, they just want to blame the media all the while Iran keeps enriching away. As you say, if Iran weren't going for a bomb before, I'd say they are already working on it now.

Yeah, not great for the Trump administration. There's a good chance Iran will do a nuclear test before the term is up and the optics are going to be brutal for Trump. Not a hope the US are sending in ground forces, and they've completely blown up the negotiations.

What now? Drop a few more bombs on Fordow in the hope to cause damage, even though the biggest conventional weapon in the US arsenal didn't destory the complex? Good luck with that.

Have to laugh at people praising Iran for apparently being the grown up here. Ye that's it, it's not the fact they've been completely shown up, had a ton of their missle launching capabilities destroyed, their proxies absolutely battered, discovered that they have zero allies willing to help them. Close the strait of Hormuz lol good luck with that, the majority of oil through it goes to Asia and mainly China. You think they are about to piss off the Chinese.

It turns out using your entire defense budget to produce drones for Russia to kill innocent Ukrainian s and funding terrorist proxies leaves your actual ability to fight war piss poor. Iran is acting this way because it has no other real choice.

Why else would they be enriching huge amounts of uranium to 60% and lying about it? And I have no doubt that Russia has been helping them with weapons development.

'Zero allies willing to help them', with what though? Was Iran planning to go to war with someone in the next couple of years….who exactly?

So, reports now saying those US strikes weren't so successful at all. Set aside Irans nuclear programme by a few months.

    Trump said they were obliterated..

Tbf, they basically gave Iran plenty of time to move what they wanted. Sophisticated plan by the US 😂

Haha, limited damage to nuclear sites, if in fact Fordow was the nuclear sites at all. Iran will play the long game to embarrass Trump

Explains why Iran is happy with a ceasefire

It begs the question, how will Trump and the Zionists be able to portray Iran as a threat in future if they have supposedly obliterated Iran's entire nuclear programme?

Oh no! The Iranians are building a second, even larger Death Star!

Well it turns out they can bomb them whenever they want, and nobody is that bothered.

Iran not getting the same love as Palestine, unfortunately for their people.

So this looks like a failure more than anything in terms of the nuclear angle. Set them back a couple of months but have probably given them the desire to make one asap after attacking them. Diplomacy was the way to sort this, not tearing up the previous agreement that was working and bombing them during negotiations, especially bombing them without actually destroying the facility. Dumb and dumber.

    Abysmal failure,more like?

The goal of the civilised world should be to prevent nuclear proliferation (mind you that goal seemed to have been lost already)

Preventing Iran getting nuclear missile capability (had Obama acually achieved this?) seems worthy enough even though the horse has bolted already with so many nations having gained the ability

If this failure is confirmed , it seems likely that the Iranian regime (as long as it clings to power) can develop this capability at its leisure.

They surely have no regard for their own citizens and may not fear an invasion .So they can just take their time to acquire their own nuclear arsenal now that they have seen the limits of their enemies' ability to destroy their programme.

We have to acknowledge the incredible military ,technological and intelligence achievement of the Israelis to have brought Iran to its knees and yet this last piece of their aims seems as if it may have eluded them

The Iranian regime may well believe that this is the high water mark of Israel superiority and that next time round (if there is a next time) Israel will be a weaker foe.

What happens in a year or 2 years if Iran carry out a nuclear test and declare themselves a nuclear power? Will Israel or the US intervene to disarm Iran or is it simply too dangerous for a nuclear armed power to attempt an attack on another nuclear armed power?

Would still mean Trump and Netanyahu having to admit a) they lied about obliterating Iran's nuclear programme or b) were 100% wrong about it and their intel was worthless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,607 ✭✭✭thereiver

It has been reported that all the b2 bombing has caused damage but Iran could rebuild it's nuclear facilitys in 6 months time Israel is close to using up all it's missiles that defend against Iran's missile attacks one missile costs Israel one million dollars

Iran had agreed to not pursue nuclear weapons in the deal they had with Obama that Trump pulled out of. They were in further negotiations with Trump until Netenyahu assassinated the negotiators.

You cannot say Iran weren't engaging with non proliferation efforts. Israeli and American aggression are pushing then towards an accelerated nuclear weapons program

One of the killed Iranian generals made a surprise appearance in Tehran last night. Also reports that the lead negotiator who was also killed is recovering well in hospital.

China summed it up perfect last night, i think that when the Jcpoa ends in October Iran will just withdraw from the NPT and withdraw from ICAE and just do what Israel has for the past 60 years despite ignoring the security council resolution insisting they sign up to them both.

It will be very hard to make a big deal out of it and put sanctions on them without doing the same against Israel also after all, it would give the impression of blatant double standards. Not one US or Israel ally could bring themselves to condemn the illegal unprovoked acts of aggression, unbelievable.

EDIT - Looks like they have just banned IAEA from Iran subject to final approval

Nah, they never really stopped that. Over 1000 people have been killed, most of them at the GHF checkpoints, during the "12-day war".

To be fair, the war gave the Israeli's good cover to continue their killing…

Now the peacemaker is being informed about the obliteration of Iran's facility by the Israeli's. They supposedly have people who just stroll in after the hit, examine everything and do a report for him.

Iran doing a nuclear test during trumps term is absolutely fairytale shite talk.

Do you know anything at all about recent events in the Middle East? Iran has been at war for decades through its proxies.

Do you understand why none of the other Arab and Muslim countries in the Middle East came to Iran's support over the last few weeks? I'll tell you why - Iran are a pariah state, the only regime that might support them are the Taliban, who don't have full control over their mountainous state.

When you are lining up on the same side as the Ayatollahs and the Taliban, as you are, you need to have a long think about what you are doing and why.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,623 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

Quite possible that they do. After all, they had the intelligence to quickly take out Iran's air defences.

Within Iran, there is a significant resistance against the regime who would see Israel as the enemy of our enemy and therefore a friend.

Why? Both the Trump admin and Israel insist they were months away from developing a warhead. Why is it fairytale shite talk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭ledwithhedwith

If you think Iran were weeks away from developing a warhead you aren't worth conversing with on this topic.

Someone needs to ask DonTheCon™ why, if the US strike on Fordow was so perfect, successful and destructive? The Israeli's followed up with additional strikes 2 days later?

The performance of himself and Hegseth at the NATO presser this morning was absolutely shocking. Once again, he totally dismisses US intel reports and by extension services and sources in favour of his ego.

Maybe he should ask Putin for the FSB's intel assessment and go with that 🤔 Or is he now adamant that Mossad are his favourites?
