Are these good and/or worth buying?

My Omen runs kind of hot.

I'd like something to help keep it cool.

Is there much difference from one cooling pad to the next?

Something off Temu might get the job done? Though the prices on amazon aren't that different.

    Anyone actually use these?

Worthwhile cleaning out the fans on a regular basis. Have you done that. Use a laptop stand so theres lots of space under the laptop and fans..

Take them out and clean them or just hoover through the vents.

So it's not necessary to get a cooling pad, really?

If the fans are clean (and you've opened it up to check) a good cooling pad does drop it 5-10 degrees.

I ran one of ours (Legion laptop) on it's side with the bottom off with a USB 5" fan for a couple of hours under benchmarking. It made a didn't difference but was loud. One of the teens whose laptop it was claimed it throttling. I installed a fresh copy of windows and left it running as a test.

I think the bigger issue was he would game on it for very long periods without a break, in a warm room and the laptop flat on a desk.

I cleaned out the internal fans.

Big improvement, though it still runs at about 100 degrees.

HP Omen, is that about normal?

But it doesn't throttle or shut down any more.

Perhaps a laptop stand with just a mesh or open bottom would be sufficient?

Any links to a recommended model, or what could laptop stand unit would look like?

Just enough to facilitate airflow under the unit so the internal fans can churn air better.

I guess look on YouTube for people reviewing the laptop see what temps they get. What's the model no.

    I've got one like this...

You could just a book to prop it up.

Theses a lot of laptops coolers. Look very bulky to me.

Apparently unless you invest in an absolutely top shelf model, laptop coolers are bogus.

There's one's that form a vacuum seal around the underside of the computer and have some kind of refrigeration property?

But they have an external power source and aren't cheap.

    Amazon Basics Ventilated Adjustable Ergonomic Laptop Stand, 33 x 28.7 x 18.5 cm, Black : Amazon.ie: Electronics

    Got this laptop stand.

    Seems okay so far.
