Meh - people on reddit will say that, they could be right, but 'PSR' is an easy thing to say.

And we could agree a fee this week, and not complete the deal til July 1st. July 1st isn't a starting point for when we can agree a fee.

To be fair I think for any incoming player we're all trying to cling on to any sort of positive performance from them. There isn't a poster here who's been 100% against any player from day one. We'll all praise a good performance in the hope it'll translate into a season. Hindsight is a great thing.

I'd be hopeful that the current transfer do far more due diligence on incoming players this time around

I was against Onana but probably not 100%

Didn't like what I saw from clips on youtube, all the highlights shots were straight at him!

More a statement of giving d!ckheads with an attitude problem inflated wages.

Antony may have been stone useless, but I never felt the lad never tried or never wanted to do well the team. Had we bought him for 30m and little pressure for that price-tag, he might have done better for United. Once he wasn't banging in the goals from the off he was a goner, and confidence and form rapidly disappeared. At Betis though, the pressure is off and he's shown there's a bit of a player there, not at 100m player, but a handy player. And to be a handy player, you have to have a good attitude and work ethic. A disaster for United, but I don't think you could doubt his work ethic, the club was just too big for him to handle, especially at that level of scrutiny.

Contrast that with the attitude of Pogba, Rashford, Sancho, Lingard. All more talented, all shocking attitude.

Rashford the best of the three, but has been very average bar most of one season. Not sure where the ego has come form, he's not really done anything to deserve that sense of self importance.

Pogba you could get the arrogance of, World Cup winner, Serie A winner. Clearly had the talent and physical attributes to build a winning team around, unfortunately had the type of attitude that would struggle to build a Lego set around him.

Sancho. Without a shadow of a doubt, the worst signing United has ever had. You can only hope some desperate Saudi club comes in with an offer, being the money-seeking waste he is, Sancho would go and we'd be rid of him.

Lingard at least we got rid of.

The changing of managers not being up to the job is a problem, but the likes of them being there and not able to shift them is bigger.

    Mod Edit: Warning issued

I couldn't understand how scouting could look at Pogba in a 3 man midfield at Juve and felt he could manage the 2 man midfield. Could never understand it

Even nowadays with Bruno as much as he offers us going forward our midfield is constantly overwhelmed with his meanderings. I'm just hoping RA can figure it out

Mod: Folks don't be getting yourselves into trouble abusing players such as Sancho - it's strictly forbidden by the forum charter - there are a number of posts recently that seem to forget this rule exists. Discuss his poor performance and attitude, sure. Don't start name calling or more warnings will have to be issued. Thanks.

imo the midfield 2 will never be considered good enough to be a midfield 2, because it needs to work in concert at lot more with the 10s, WBs and CBs.

IMO part of the reason we look weak defensively in mifield, or struggle to progess the ball the was because of poor positioning or execution by the players around the midfield.

which, imo, means there is a lot more for Amorim to fix to 'fix' the midfield cause you could have Rodri and Rice in there and if we still see the same positional issues we'll still get beat.

The only way a 2 man midfield would work is if one of them was prime Arturo Vidal/N'Golo Kante/Micheal Essien and basically had the work-rate and stamina of two men trapped in one body otherwise not a hope in hell it works.

it is typical, regardless of formation, for teams to attack into a 316 formation, or 325.

Either way, it doesn't really matter who the 2 are, it matters where the rest defense is in terms of numbers, but also (obviously) positionally and how they execute their presses, jumps and retreates.

IMO we are poor at that transitional aspect, but good (mostly) in settled defence.

Our defense is too quick to retreat imo, leaving too much space for the 2 or the 1.

A big part of the problem is having central defenders lacking in pace whose instinct is to retreat to avoid being beaten in behind.

Yoro and Heaven will help in that regard, with their recovery pace allowing for a higher line to be maintained even after losing possession.

Just used it there and I found one of the old Daft games that used to be played in here

    Found this beauty
    https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/117495671#Comment_117495671?utm_source=community-search&utm_medium=organic-search&utm_term=sancho

If you ever needed a reminder of the footballing IQ on this forum, a team with Leno, Trent, Tierney and Sancho was voted over a team with Messi, Ronaldo, Bruno, Dias, Donnarumma, Pedro and Rijkaard 🤣

Granted the medical team would have their work cut out with the full backs 😁

looks like darwin might be off to napoli. that prob rules them out of going for any of our lads (unless maybe they sell rom?).

We've been linked with Nkunku, I wanted him on a short term loan in Jan but not now, he's best in Cunha's position.

Hopefully a ploy to get Brentford to hurry up.

Vidal was with Pogba at Juve and they didn't have a 2 man midfield. Also all the creative burden was not placed on him from midfield either.

Pogba needed to be indulged and protected to shine - which is fine, some players need that.
We never had any intentions of doing that fully to the level needed, so I'm not sure why we thought it would work

I'm also not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze with Pogba due to other factors.
I'm not convinced at all you'd ever get a full 30+ PL games a season where he was at that level that could drag a team to something, no matter what conditions you put him in.

You'd get great performances out of him here and there. But not someone you can count on week in, week out, unfortunately.

Not because of his talent, just mentally. It's a long season to stay at that level.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When we were signing Sancho, he looked like a great talent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Acosta

Indeed. The problem is, this carry on, as well as the crap he's already pulled, is going to make him harder to sell. Number 1, United need good money for him. But this will only encourage Micky mouse bids. And number 2, it gives other managers more reason to stay clear of the little so and so. He's a right moron to be behaving like this, as he obviously wants a move. There must be some right clowns advising him.

The tweet is bang on. Leaving Garnacho aside, who came through the youth team. During the Woodward era especially, there was zero due diligence with regards to the personality and mentality of players, ahead of signing them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,947 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Yeah it all affects out ability to sell but as I said previously, we're going to just have to take the hit. If someone offered £40m for Garnacho now I'd take it. Would accept £25m for Rashford and half that for Sancho.

The downside of any of the 3 remaining is way more damaging than the loss of value by selling cheap.

    They absolutely must go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,717 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Pogba was a waste of a jersey. Nothing would make him break a sweat, same as Rashford.

Pirlo and Vidal had the talent in that Juve midfield, Pogba wasn't that important to it. The other two would consistently deliver regardless of Pogba.

new mbeumo bid apparently. if true, the offer should be accepted tomorrow (else why spend the last 3 weeks negotiating?)

    Some news from Charlotte Duncker

Interesting about Wing backs, would have thought a CM would be more important.

Never getting £100m from those 2 in the current circumstances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,717 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Goalkeeper surely, no amount of new defenders improve us with Onana behind them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,232 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

Following on from the earlier Nkunku post....

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/06/23/chelsea-man-utd-nkunku-garnacho-transfer-news-maresca-deal/

Sounds like PSR trickery if true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,563 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Can't see why we'd get nkunku unless we pulled out of the mbeumo deal.

I'd be seeing if they were ready to cash in on Santos though.

the only reason to go for him is FFP shenanigans with a 'swap' deal.

we buy nkunku for 30m and they buy garnacho for 50m.

even that doesn't make sense though as nkunku is prob worth 15m max given his injury record, and general record while fit at chelsea also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,831 ✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Jonny Evans to rejoin the club behind the scenes. He'll look after youth loans, helping place players at clubs, and offering them support through the process.

romano reporting mount is staying, despite reports recently he might leave.

Mason Mount, not planning to leave Man United despite reports in recent hours.

He’s focusing on staying fit, do pre-season work at his best and stay to work full season with Rúben Amorim.

he is also reporting on garna-nkunku swap. i'd be disgusted if we do that deal. garna needs to go, fine. but not for nkunku.

Chelsea and Man Utd discussed Nkunku-Garnacho last December, all parties informed but no club to club talks now yet.
