What is it with Trump and "2 weeks"? He says it all the time. Everything is 2 weeks.

    Fcuking weird.

This thread is incredible. Can't say I was expecting to be warned to look at Nebuchadnezzar as a lesson from history while sitting down to my cornflakes.

    That's not true though.

While "Judaism" is a religious affiliation, being a Jew is also an ethnicity. You can be ethnically Jewish and have no religion at all. And being ethnically Jewish has to be passed down by the mother. If Daddy's a Jew and Mum isn't, that doesn't count for a lot of them. In Israel, and elsewhere, there are a large amount of bigots who look down on converts to the religion and don't believe that they are "real Jews". For instance, Ethiopian Jews who moved to Israel aren't considered to be Jews by a lot of people there and they'll be openly called "niggers". There's a large cohort in Israel that would happily see them all sent back to Africa. It gets worse depending on which sect you are talking about too. The Hasidim, for instance, believe that they are the only real Jews and there's only a few hundred thousand of them. They'd look down on the "pretend Jews" more than they do the goyim.

That's what's so hilarious about of all of this nonsense about Jews in Israel. The idea that Jehuda from Brooklyn, the great grandson of Joshua from Poland, has any more rights to land in Palestine over Mohamed who's family has been living there for centuries is bloody ludicrous.

We can now see why Israel went out of their way to browbeat a lot of countries into adopting the IHRA definition of antisemitism, which has a number of items that prohibits criticism of Israel as "antisemitic". It allows them to be the abuser, while endlessly claiming that they are being abused.

An attack on Iran would definitely have been "wargamed" many times. I'm sure even the US has wargamed such an outcome. But this attack right now, in the middle of talks between Iran and the US, seems to be more about Netanyahu trying to expand conflict so he can keep himself relevant. Also, world opinion has firmly turned against Israel and her ethnic cleansing in Gaza. So he needed a distraction away from that. On the face of it this attack seems to be a desperate move, rather than one that's been in the making for a long time. Also, the US doesn't seem to be all in with his attack on Iran. He may have overestimated his ability to control the narrative in America.

He's been spouting the lie about Iranian nuclear weapons for over 3 decades, though, so there's no doubt that the psychopath has had something like this in mind for years. But this is a piece of shit that also said in the 70's that the next war would give Israel the opportunity to get rid of Arabs.

He's willing to play the long game to achieve his despotic aims. But his time is running out. He's 75 now and he isn't going to get another chance.

I don't think world opinion is against what Israel is doing in Gaza. The US and Europe are happy giving Israel free reign to do what they want. I don't think a few politicians mouthing off but not doing anything are relevant. Also, outside of the US and Europe I'm not sure how relevant other countries opinions are either, especially when they will do nothing about it.

Make no mistake, if Iran somehow looked like they could win this war then the US and Europe would unleash hell on them.

Just reading that Israel daily attacks are costing $200mill.

That's a huge amount of money each day, especially as have been spending it for nearly 2 years now.

They aren't being given free weapons by their allies, so how come they aren't heavily indebted?

The politicians of various country's may be speaking out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to Israel. But, without a doubt, the majority of people around the world are against what Israel is doing in Gaza.

Problem is the useless UN. US veto everything that is put against Israel after being approved by majority of countries.

As my mother pointed out to me when I was a child, the Palestinians are Semites as much as the Jews are, so the term antisemitic is ironic.

The US spent $18 billion on military aid to Israel in 2024.

The bills gonna get a lot higher the way Israel are going

To come at it from another angle, why aren't the Arab countries of the Middle East all at war with each other? According to the Zionist narrative, the Arab nations are supposed to be crazed maniacs, a death cult, hell bent on violence and destruction etc.

By this logic no one owns this land. In fact the Ottoman Empire (Turkish imperialism) was broken up after WW1 so no one is really entitled to this land after that either just look at the maps for Germany at the time, are Germans entitled to get that land back too? The Ottoman’s lost, they were broken up and after WW2 the land was given back to Jewish people.

Prior to Israel attacking Iran, US public support for US military aid to Israel was 53%. I'd suspect it's lower now. I wonder how much the US has spent since then on defending Israel. Those missiles part of the AEGIS system the US Navy uses cost between $2-4 mil a pop.

Even if the public was opposed to an increase in military aid to Israel, I can't see Congress voting against it.

An absurd point to make. It wasn't anyone's to "give back". This completely ignores generations of evolving demographics, migrations and other changes.

Why is it that Israel was allowed to be created in this way but not greater Egypt or Iraq in the area instead? Surely that'd just be returning to them.

I understand the point of Jews needing a safe haven after the Holocaust. They still would have faced some sort of persecution in Europe. However, this doesn't justify creating an Etho-religious state build on persecution and expulsion of others.

They had the chance to create a functioning, egalitarian state where all ethnic and religious groups were offered fair and equal rights.

Instead we have a state that actively seeks to punish and expel those who are different. This is very obvious when going to bomb shelters that Palestinians, Bedouins and others are excluded by their neighbours. The Bedouin who it is not uncommon for to work with the IDF.

That was an act of insanity. But you are wrong - possession is nine tenths of the law. The land was inhabited, it was not empty, the Palestinians had been there for centuries. How would you feel if the same British imperialist scumbags had given the jews Ireland instead, and that what happened to the Palestinians happened to the Irish? I'm sure you and your forbears would love that and be all for it.

    An apartheid state

Maybe the USA can carve out the equivalent land mass on their terroritory with highest numbers of Israeli supporters and hand it over for a new state.

I thought Homelander's post was fairly clear:

The Ayatollah's regime wants to destroy Israel. Full stop. Israel only wants Iran to have a government not bent on Israel's destruction. Not to be doing things like this for example.

I highly doubt that there are many in Israel that would give two figs what sort of government they had in Tehran if that government was not so hostile. To be more blunt, they wouldn't give a crap if Iran continued to be a Shia Islamic state, complete with a Shia government, post some kind of regime change.

The same is not true in reverse.

Not sure what you mean by bringing Northern Ireland into it, NI isn't a real country. AFAIK nobody up there considers themselves to be "Northern Irish."

The UK has engaged in a secret and not so secret war on Iran for years. Is it only outrageous when non western powers do it?

Lots of people identify as Northern Irish. I'm Irish but I would also consider myself Northern Irish because there is a clear distinction of historical experiences from the rest of Ireland.

Something I'm reminded of on a fairly often basis by ignorant statements like "nobody up there considers themselves as Northern Irish."

Edit: just checked the last census, almost 20% identified as Northern Irish only.

the real question is how can iran afford a sustained war their GDP is only approx. 420-450 billion for a huge geographic country of 90 million people and no US to fund any portion of their war effort

According to the latest estimates from SIPRI's Military Balance, Israel's defence budget in 2023 was more than double that of Iran—$27.5 billion compared to $10.3 billion

    both countries economies are suffering

I know this is way back in the thread...but to call Cruz a grade A religious lunatic/fanatic is being way way too complimentary....these people think with that part of their brain concerned with grabbing everything from everyone and getting to the top no matter what...every other part of their brain is a wasteland filled with dust and tumbleweed where morality, logic, decency and grace are just a long forgotten memory carried on the wind blowing through

It speaks volumes when the likes of Tucker Carlson appears to be asking sane questions....

Such a pile of steaming dogshit that has floated to the top in recent times.....

If there was logic nevermind empathy amongst the current leadership of any of these countries and amongst a significant number of actual brainless fanatics that engineered their rise and convinced complete morons to vote for them we wouldn't be seeing half of this....

How does any country "destroy Israel" without being completely obliterated themselves? Rumoured that Israel has as many as 800 nuclear warheads.

Iranian government's active aim is to be wiped out in a nuclear holocaust as soon as is humanly possible?

Tucker Carlson may be an unpleasant person with some distasteful opinions, but he is still totally sane and rational compared to those religious lunatics like Cruz on the American Right. They are crazed warmongers who wouldn't even baulk for a moment at genocide being carried out in their name.
