That is crazy, (Left) was my last purchase from 24th March and (Right) is the current for the same value gift card. That is unreal. Will use other provider.

Loaded another 1,000TL tonight, should get me to end of year with Turkey plan. Bought the giftcard via Eneba for €27.09 and loaded it into my account. Had no VPN on tonight for either process, no issues.

Was actually about €1 cheaper than final cost when had VPN on and prices were in Lira, odd. Usually a few cent the other way.

I managed to add a turkey code to my account but unable to watch content without vpn, any way around this?

Is first time using Turkey pricing? If so you may be geolocked for first 30 days. If this happens, nothing you can do. Geolock will automatically release.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,979 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

    Yep, that's the story @upinthesky

I used a VPN for first 30 days, and then no issue afterwards. Just ment couldn't watch on Sky Box or Smart TV app. Had Firestick on all TVs so just loaded VPN on to Turkey for the month, left it on in background 24/7, was as handy.

I've yet to find a workaround that worked.

Anyone ever come across this scenario.Today I decided to top up my Turkish Netflix Premium account with a Turkish 2000TL gift card from G2A. The account is already up and running but payment was due in two weeks. When I put in the gift card number I got a popup saying you have been credited with 1000TL and it should bring you to next October. ? I'm reluctant to contact Netflix chat as they might twig real location and cancel the sub. I tried the gift card code again but it flags already used. What would be the best way to proceed. I would be interested if this had happened to any one previously. Thanks

You need to contact G2A - they sold you a 2000TL gift card that only redeemed 1000TL on Netflix.

Raise a ticket via support channel. They are normally fairly good to resolve issues, it just may take a bit of time.

If it doesnt get resolved then threaten with a chargeback with your credit card provider (make sure you understand what the process is here beforehand).

Reference my previous I have discovered the gift card had two seperate keys, 2 X 1000 Euro. I am not familiar with these gift tokens so it was my mistake. Thanks for the response.

Boo - Just got the email there that my Turkish sub for premium will rise next month from 300TL to 380TL - roughly 27% increase. Had enough credit for 12 months, now its 9.5 months.

Turgame have now reduced the Service Fee for the Netflix Gift Cards down from 40% to 20% which is still not great compared to the 1.6% they were charging up until a couple of weeks ago

Turgame could now be slightly cheaper than Eneba or neck and neck. For example a TRY 400.00 gift card is checking out on Turgame for TRY 497.93 and Eneba it's TRY 511.30, a TRY 1,000.00 gift card is checking out on Turgame for TRY 1,244.81 and Eneba its TRY 1,243.49

How do people in Turkey actually afford this? I'm pretty sure when I started this craic I could get 4 screens Netflix from Turkey for about 3 euro. It might even have been less.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,228 ✭✭✭0ph0rce0

I'm on it years. Family plan started at about 5-6 quid due to currency at the time. Went down a bit to 4 ish then 3 , went up a bit to 7 or so then down again. For me it was always in and around 6 on average It's now about 8.

The increases are because their currency value is all over the place.

Average wage in turkey is about 900. Hardly that bad.

To answer that you would have to look at the economy more broadly in Turkey where the long term inflation average is running at around 30%. Its dysfunctional and shouldnt be viewed through the lens of a normally functioning economy like Ireland. Simply put wealthy residents wouldnt feel such pressures, but those who dont simply purchase it.

According to Flixpatrol, market penetration in Turkey is approx 3.7m subscribers. With a population of 86m, thats about 4.35%. This would include all non-Turkey based subs, so the real number may be actually lower.

Compare that to Ireland with 1.3m subscribers, population of 5.3m = 25%

    Hi all,

I keep getting this error when trying to redeem my gift card:
"Can't Redeem Gift Code – Sorry, we are unable to process your request."

I'm trying to redeem a 🦃🦃 Turk gift card I’ve always used on my account, but I’ve recently run into this issue. I'm using NordVPN, and I’ve tried a few things, but no luck so far. Has anyone found a workaround?

One other strange thing: when I try logging in on a fresh browser, it won’t let me in — but it does work when I switch to other regions via VPN.

Feeling like I might’ve taken an L here, especially with a £50 Eneba gift card I might not be able to redeem.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated

And could be an issue with the gift card itself. Go back to Eneba if you cant redeem it.

Looks like the jig is finally up, account is on hold with 2 of my payment methods not available any more. This is the error "There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use."

And when I add a new payment method it doesn't go through. No mobile or address or anything asked, just card details requested but no dice.

Anything else can be done that I might have missed before going down the giftcard road?

Tried adding a card with a Turkish Vpn and sending the updated details, also without vpn but same error

Edit: Just added 300tl of giftcards to see if it works, and so far so good. Had trouble adding it on a laptop/chrome, with/without vpn, but netflix app worked aok on the phone

Exact same thing happened to me. But vouchers worked so still happy enough. I got 7 years before this!

That's a good run, think I was on year 3 until today, so can't complain. Worked longer than expected. Used Eneba which does have some extra fees, but I already had an account with them. Gonna have to find a 1,000tl deal and add it on every few months

Wonder how many folks are still doing it the old fashioned way. Seems to be harder and harder every few months

When/if the gift card option is no longer viable, I'm done with it.

I already have stremio running on my living room and bedroom TV, combined with a realdebrid account, that gets me everything on pretty much any platform you can think off, including BBC iPlayer, I only pay for Netflix because stremio is a bit beyond my wife's techno skills lol

Netflix will learn the hard way that a little bit of money from a lot of subs is a better business model than a lot of money from a few subs.

Yea for sure I’m the exact same. The s/o has stremio down, and it’s pretty good with trakt tbf. For travel and lunch breaks etc Netflix is convenient. I could easily just use sky or prime but rarely use em out and about apart for watching sport on the go

It’s definitely getting to the point of too many subs, even just posting this message I’m questioning keeping some of em. I don’t mind paying for services if they’re good and worth it, but barely feel that for most of them at the minute. Especially with the constant price rises or introducing ads

no issues adding a 900tl voucher to my turkey account this morning, that gets me to October. bought voucher from G2A rather than Turgame.

So looks my current Netflix plan with gift cards got nuked. Had been running fine since start of the year. The account is still active, but the plan got cancelled.

Support via chat are saying "someone tried to get into your account to get the payment details or change the email so Netflix has noticed this and cancelled the account to protect your information and we haven't charged you again"

I would say this is just a smokescreen but I dont really have a leg to stand on.

They havent charged me, but all of my 3000TL gift card balance is kaput - nearly 8 months!

There were 2 things that I did differently this time.

The first is, and Im absolutely livid with myself, I broke my own rule of not normally loading more than 3 months at a time to limit losses like this. I simply got over-confident.

And the second is I didnt purchase from Turgame.

My first time using Ebeba for Netflix vouchers as I needed to purchase when Turgame temporarily increased their fees to 40% (then reduced them back).

In my haste I glossed over the Eneba warning with the key "The code WILL NOT work on accounts that had previously been paid for with a credit card registered outside of Turkey."

I have since purchased another months gift card with Turgame and it was accepted, although my account is now geo-locked to Turkey (for the month I assume).

So I will be avoiding Eneba, CD Keys & G2A from now on and sticking with Turgame. This is because the others are simply are marketplace for gift card sellers, where as Turgame purport to be vendors themselves. Even still, this claim is murky as there is nothing to indicate where they are actually getting the gift cards from in the first place.

Similar story, plan cancelled after working last night with a gift card. (Only added for 1 day) It’s asking to select a new plan. Account was on hold after removing my payment methods prior to the gift card! I didn’t use a vpn to watch, which may have had been the mistake

Is it worth trying one more gift card and log in and stream from Turkey once a week for 30 days? I think that might be the last option I have at this stage

Mine also gone after just adding the gift card

Might be just somewhat askew from the main chat here, but you can get an ad-free version (from your own country) of Netflix by installing 'Brave' - a free web browser. Got an old-ish laptop (Mac or PC), install that onto it and hook it up to the TV via HTMI. Free apps exists to let you pause etc playback from your phone.
