And most of the same fellas who are anti-immigration will cheer on Israel for the purposes of 'owning the libs'.

I don't disagree with your first point, but my point was that the current regimes motivation is entirely driven by hardcore religious idealogy.

A new military regime, even if its another form of religious governance, is unlikely to pursue the same action, because inherently Iranian people are not troubled by the existance of Israel.

I would say the Egyptian population hates Israel in a way that the normal Iranian population never will, but Egypt is not driven purely by religious fundamentalism and has kept peace with Israel for 40+ years.

Same for Lebanon - another country whose population generally does not like Israel for good reason, but also has no interest in war with Israel, and that fact, combined with Israels actions against it, is why Hezbollah is sitting silent and watching as Israel attacks Iran.

Israel is surrounded by countries that do not like it. Iran, not even a neighboring country, is the only one left that believes Israel has to be destroyed and acts accordingly.

Most countries made peace with Israel because it was the sensible thing to do, and the only logical option after all the costly failed wars in the past.

Iran never had to suffer that before because of the strategy of proxy and missile deterrence, but that's all collapsed.

Even if there's no regime change, I would find it highly unlikely that even the current regime would continue to pursue naked aggression towards Israel in the years ahead after seeing decades of strategic planning to shield Iran from any blowback collapse in two years.

The gas thing is that some people in the US are [if one is to believe their utterances] convinced that she is a Russian agent which, if one is to take Trump at his spoken word, another example of him flip-flopping when it come to trusting his intelligence people.

I don`t see how bombing Iran is going to make the Iranian population look more kindly on Isreal, or the U.S. if Trump decides to join in, and I cannot see there being any change of regime there other than perhaps a military regime without a full scale invasion which is not going to happen.

Isteal`s problems from Iran have been the funding and supply of hardcore factions by Iran. Netanyahu looks as if he seized upon another dodgy document similar to the U.S. in the war with Iraq and ran with it hoping the U.S. would back him. But barring the odd bunker buster bomb, that is not going to happen.

So where does he go from here ? If it remains the same regime in Iran or a military regime, it`s not going to solve Isreal`s problems with being attacked by those hardcore elements. If Netanyahu resorts to indiscriminate bombing as he has threated too, regardless of which regime ends up running the country, it is not going to encourage them to stop funding and supplying those hard core anti Isreal groups due to some ground swell of the Iranian public telling them not too.

This guy was having a rant in front of 2 young women asking them how much tax immigrants pay into the US economy?

I think he is one of Trump's MAGA voters.

The irony of this argument was that this guys argument with the two women took place outside an Irish bar in San Francisco; California.

The guy who is arguing with the two women has an American accent. He is also wearing an old Chelsea FC jersey with Didier Drogba's name on back of it.

He must be there to see Chelsea play in the Fifa Club World Cup later that evening. Either way that guy's argument is cringe inducing sh1te.

The two young women that argued with him were probably very lucky that the argument didn't decesend to something that was far worse between them.

"It's a wonderful treaty, a tremendous treaty, you won't have seen it before, all our guys have been on it, tremendous work"

"Mr President, what about Russia and Ukraine, or Israel and Iran?"

"I don't answer stupid questions, tremendously stupid questions, your organisation has no credibility"

The ego on trump is one thing. That his followers continue to blindly follow it, is another. The state of politics in American is democracy at its lowest point in world history.

So that’s Gabbard under the bus, and Hegseth frozen out.

This was all predicted, he would never listen or keep those around him for longer than he needed.

this thing about US boots on the ground - as if the US is not involved in the war if it has no boots on - Iranian - ground.
The US/ would be/is up to its neck in the Iranian war for at least the following four reasons - each of them doing untoward/ very serious damage:-

    (1) supplying at least two bunker busting bombs flown in and dropped by American planes flown by American pilots. BTY, are boots ‘in the air’ any different from boots in the ground.

    (2) continual supply of military equipment , including bombs to Israel that is used in the current war. Note the DIVERSION of 20,000 drones , earmarked for Ukr, to Israel.

    (3) The proverbial actual boots on the ground if that happens. We know what happened with US boots on the ground in Vietnam, Afganistan, Iraq, Syria , etc al.

    (4) US providing real time and other intelligence to Israel as to what to bomb, what is where , etc, etc, etc,.

This idea of behaving in a proxy position as being directly involved is playing with SEMANTICS

Making the weekend for Trump, Pakistan has done what he thought wouldn't happen, it's nominated him for the prize. "I deserve it more than most" for stopping a war between two nuclear weapon powers. Course it's still only a nomination…

TACO boy exhibits his vast knowledge of history once again!

Speaking to reporters after landing in New Jersey on Friday for a MAGA Inc. fundraising dinner at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, Trump was asked: “Years ago, you were skeptical of a Republican administration that attacked a Middle East country on the idea of questionable intelligence of weapons of mass destruction. How is this moment different with Iran?”

“Well, there were no weapons of mass destruction—I never thought there were,” replied Trump.

“And that was a somewhat pre-nuclear [time]. You know, it was, there was a nuclear age, but nothing like it is today.”

I wonder how many ketchup bottles will get smashed against the White House walls when the actual winner is announced?

I honestly hope he starts to believe that he’s going to win a Nobel. I don’t strike him as possessing the maturity to consider a possibly where he doesn’t. He at very least deserves to have his sad little hopes built up as high as possible for a while and then smashed to the ground with the force of a thousand thunder clouds.

We have until October to learn what happens.

Trump has yet again confirmed in the most clearest way possible to date as TO WHO /WHAT HE IS. His most recent UTTERANCES lead me to the above ie ,

    (1) when asked about calling a cease fire in Iran Israel war. He said something along the lines of “ well it’s hard to get somebody to stop and agree a cease fire when THEY ARE WINNING”. I assume that it suits him to say that because HIS SIDE IS WINNING. Do I read into this statement of his that he is not going to attempt at calling for a cease fire . He seems to be applying the same ‘APPROACH ‘ to the Ru/Ukr war.

    (2) imagine telling the EU / some EU members that they ‘have no cards’ to play so telling them to ‘fe-k off’ and let him to deal with solving the problem between Iran and Israel. Talking about traditional alliances , networking. And cooperation between like minded sovereign states - as far as Trumps behaviour is concerned that era is TRUELY OVER - and if it is ever Attempted to revisit to restore same. It will take a looooooooooog time to restore the traditional order

    Idiocy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,561 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Underneath this all, we know fully that there is something in the background that would make them nominate him.

Maybe he could step in and stop Israel and Iran though? But we have 2 weeks to wait.

Reports of B2 bombers heading towards Guam

"A group of US stealth bombers appear to be on the move as tensions increase over whether America will join the Israel-Iran conflict.

According to Fox News, flight tracking data shows the B-2 warplanes, which are designed for long-range strike missions, heading off the west coast of America.

The reports adds that the bombers apparently refuelled after launching from Missouri, indicating they launched without full tanks due to a heavy onboard payload."

Pretty sure he was nominated previously. Given his overall threat to global stability though, it's pretty unlikely that he actually wins the thing though..

oh dear, so no more condescending posts from trumpian military personnel on thread

Most of nato states already spend more than US on defence especially when add in the money going to Ukraine who are demolishing the only threat to nato

Benito Mussolini was nominated in 1935, the same year he invaded Ethiopia.

Adolf Hitler was nominated in 1939 as a protest against the nomination of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain for the Peace Piece of Paper.

Joseph Stalin was nominated in 1945 and 1948.

Henry Kissinger won in 1973. His foreign policy arguably killed millions.

He was. It is quite easy to get nominated. He is vanishingly unlikely to win it (of course Obama getting it was fairly farcical)
