Steel Panther was good, those chat bits always drag on and aren't really that funny, would prefer a few more songs.

Eyes of a Panther was nearly worth admission alone, loved Satchel messing with the bass pedal on the drums while playing classic rock riffs, seen him do it before but it's cool, liked his fretboard wanker guitar solo as well.

Was funny with that girl Abi on stage, going from confidently cupping her breasts to a look of sheer horror, it was a fun gig.

The 'extra' on stage during Asian Hooker felt unplanned. Even Michael Starr seemed to be thrown!

Chuck up a review of the Kneecap gig later if anyone is at it.

Went to the Steel Panther gig in Vicar Street not expecting such a graphic show but it was a Comedic enjoyable turn to 11 night out.

Black Sonic Pearls were ok but disappointed with no 'Dr Alibi' esp with 'Todd Dammit Kearns' on bass. The singer looked like the love child of Vince Neil and Johnny Van Zant

Steel Panther were great if not a bit 'ott" at times but it is a 'comedy show' at the end of the day. They can all perform excellently (stripers and stage invitees including)

Next up Duran Duran in Cork

Not a review but this popped up this morning on the graffiti wall on Dock Road (Grand Canal Dock) I walk by on my way to work. Some great artwork there if you're ever in the area.

Glad to hear she was good. Had a ticket but was recovering from illness and didn't quite feel well enough to go in the end, so missed out. ☹️

Thankfully I did see The Breeders last time they came to Vicar Street (the gig that was rescheduled because of Hurricane Ophelia). Hope she makes it back again, either solo or with Breeders again.

Black Flag - Opium. Casually strolled on stage at 7.48pm and with no fanfare launched into 45min non stop full on blast of their early back catalogue. Took a break and Greg Ginn walked round the crowd having a chat , taking pictures and generally seemed to be enjoying himself. Another 45mins of even more energy finishing with few classics.

3 young new band members were fantastic and seemed completely off the leash with Greg showing no "ego" directing anything on the stage…actually encouraging them to do their own thing.

Not huge crowd, no support and surprisingly no merchandise sales. All done by 9.45 and not a bad thing at all.Great night.

I was at Horsegirl last night. Solid gig and got up at the front. The band were great and the support (Nightshift) were a complimentary undercard.

Tagging @T.V Eye as I gather you were also there last night.

Yeah, happy I got there for the support too.

    Very Delta 5 at times.

    I suppose I should've posted this here, a bunch of reviews. 😀

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Gang Of Four were good enough tonight in the Button Factory. Nearly 2 hours altogether over two sets and an encore. Just as tight and on point as you'd hope for. Interesting use of a Microwave! During the interval Dave Pajo came out and played a cover of Lisa O'Neill's 'River Rock Machine'. They mentioned a few times that this would be their first and last gigs in Dublin. Could've sworn they played here a few times after they reformed, so who the hell am i thinking of?!

Barring surprises i think that's me gig free for the next month now. Glad of it tbh as i've completely lost my mojo. Hopefully i'll be out of my fug by the time Mogwai and ATN come around.

That makes a lot more sense as i didn't think he looked like Dave Pajo. Cheers.

Also, to answer my own question in my previous post, Andy Gill was touring as Gang of Four while Jon King wasn't involved so i guess it was King's first time playing here.

Last ever gig at Workman’s Cellar last night. Think the Club is now gone too.

Shoe gazing all the way with Cork band Pebbledash and Dream Boy headlining.

    Everyday’s a school day. Met

Gang of Four ....thought they were terrific. Full on from the start. King at 70 left it all out there. Ted Leo is a fine guitarist. Thought Gail Greenwood on bass looked kinda familiar -played with L7 and Belly

Was right up front and plenty of glass and plastic flying when the Microwave was repurpased as a percussion instrument.

Porky The Poet ( aka Phill Jupitus) as opener - sardonic wit, average poet! but very enjoyable. Had a breckfast radio show on BBC6 that friend of mine at the gig was highly impressed with in the day

Iron Maiden and Neil Young, back to back over two nights in Malahide Castle. I was lucky enough to win First to the Barrier for Iron Maiden, so got a great place. Obeying the bands' request, I just took a few photos during the last song. Last night, I was in a similar position on the barrier. Iron Maiden was the best show I've ever seen them do, just a joy from start to finish. Neil Young was magnificent, very possibly the best time I've seen him. An incredible two days. It's gigs like these that make you realise why you've loved these people for so long.

2026 Gigs and Events: An Evening with The Fast Show, Prima Facie, Stereolab (NCH), Foo Fighters, David Byrne (3Arena), Belle and Sebastian (x2), Kraftwerk, Paul Simon, David Byrne (St. Anne's Park), Keb' Mo', Metallica (x2), Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Embrace, Sigur Rós with the Ulster Orchestra, Crash Test Dummies, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Ben Folds, Jeff Tweedy, Nicko McBrain

King was in the band when they played here in 2006 so i dont know where all this first time here stuff came from. Maybe he meant the current line up

Good night. Pebbledash’s first ever appearance at Workman’s and last as it’s been sold off. Like most supporting bands, they got better with each number as their confidence grew, ending with a cracking number that blew the roof off.
Dream Boy were good, nothing stand out for me but they played about a dozen numbers to a very appreciative audience.

You are correct. Looking at wiki, when they reformed King and Gill played in the same lineup from 2004-2012, then it became Gill touring under the GoF name.

Getting into tribute bands when the original artist isn't an option, last night I saw Stipe, the R.E.M tribute, at Whelan's.

A 6-piece band, they have been around for many years and have nailed down the R.E.M. catalogue. The setlist (which changes from gig to gig) covers most of the R.E.M. albums - only a couple that were not represented last night. Naturally they play all the big hits but also dive into non-singles territory. Last night I was lucky they played one of my favourites, World Leader Pretend.

They played for nearly 2 hours, and the crowd was really into it. Great night of music!

A night of Pop Punk in Workman’s Club (not closed yet).
Not sure who the support were but the main act were a very Irish pop punk band called Crown the King who, after 5 years together, were playing their last gig together and splitting up. Adventures new for most of them, good luck to them.
