    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Not surprised - unless something terribly wrong with that car it was priced to sell

Not a bad looking car at all that Astra. No doubt the tax is heavy for that year though.

For me that would be a no.

Its a bit rough (thats nasty lookin damage on the drivers seat and one mirror has been replaced and the other needs repairing) plus 165k miles on the clock, I think €2k is too high.

Especially considering you can buy Peugeot and Renault cabriolets of that era for peanuts and they are just a nicer package.

Personally if I were in the market for a hard top convertible, I would put a few extra euro in the pot and try to get a Merc SLK which are surprisingly affordable.

I think realistically if you got it in around 1700 or so its not a bad deal at all. Thats really not a lot of money for what is actually quite a nice looking car with a proper folding roof. I wouldn't personally buy it but for someone looking for a cheapo summer car you could do a lot worse.

I think in the context of the money you're going to spend the damage you're referring to is pretty minor in fairness. Its bangernomics after all. Never going to be pristine.

And good luck finding a similar year SLK for anywhere near 2k! You're looking at doubling your budget at least.

€636 but you wouldn't be taxing it for the whole year.

Well, I was making a few separate points.

    1. The Astra looks like bad value compared to say the Renault Megane linked below.
    2. And if you are gonna buy a hard top convertible for a bit of posing....you probably need to spend more than bangernomics money anyway and get something that has some kind of cache like for example an SLK.... and yes, I wouldn't expect to buy a half decent one for bangernomics money.

Megane convertible looks savage value at €1600 for an 08 car with no faults and less than 70k miles on the clock and let's face it he's not going to turn down €1500. Pity he's in LetterKenny.

Its 1500 because its LetterKenny. A horse of drive for anyone living in the bottom half of the country. Personally I think the Astra cabrio is a better looking car.

But each to their own. The megane is certainly great value for what he's asking.
