40sq Meter Steel Shed - Dublin 12 - Financial contribution to SDCC

Hello,

I am interested in putting a steel shed out of my back garden, it will be 40 sq meters. I will apply to the South Dublin County Council for planning permission.

Am I correct that I will have to make a financial contribution if planning permission is approved?

The steel shed is coming in at 11,500 euros, I think I will be liable for a financial contribution of €5,058.40 = 40 sq m shed by Residential Development: €126.46 per square metre

Have I read and understood the calculation for the financial contribution?

From the SDCC Development Contribution Scheme document, you will be exempt from fees if there is no existing sheds or extensions to the property.

Does that include stand alone sheds or just additions to a house ?

Would normally include all sheds.

My understanding is, if you had a 10m2 shed and a 20m2 extension, both of which don't require planning permission, the cumulative area would be calculated and subtracted from the 40m2 contribution exemption leaving 10m2.

You would still receive an exemption of the fees for the 10m2 but would have to pay for 30m2 of the new shed.

Each local authority has their own contribution scheme which can vary greatly.
