The GAA tagline ahead of this game is unfortunate given how Cavan normally go against this opposition - #ExperienceTheUnforgettable !!

Team is out. Going for it in the forwards anyway. No James Smith though

It's not. Wonder will there be changes. Donohoe has let's be honest poor last 2 games. I'd not reward that with another start

I’m just relieved to see they aren’t persisting with this ridiculous tactic of constantly rushing James Smith back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 TheGadfly

He was rushed back against Donegal then it seems.

What type of injury does Gearoid McKiernan have?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 TheGadfly

We're being written off left, right and centre and maybe rightly so following the Donegal match. Call it clutching at straws but we brought them to extra time this time last year and we did match Donegal for half an hour.

The worst thing for me would be if we lie down. If we fight like demons for everything we have a good enough chance I would say.

There seems to be a real disconnect at this stage between the county team and supporters.

I’ve spoken to more people that are heading into Breffni tonight as neutrals than plan to go to Brewster tomorrow.

In your eagerness here, you’ve jumped in prematurely.

There’s a big difference between a Saturday evening game and a Sunday evening one - the majority of people/players don’t work on Sunday and the children you may or may not be dragging along to the game most certainly do not have school.

I’d gladly take even a 7.30 throw in on a Saturday down in Brewster over a late afternoon Sunday throw in. I’d imagine the most important people of all, the players, would also say the same in regard to their recovery time.

I was actually casting an eye over the Donegal thread and the timing of the game and their distance from The Hyde was mentioned.

I's be in agreement with that. Late Sunday afternoon games are not ideal. What's wrong with 2 o' clock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Cavan_King

TV coverage. RTÉ want a game at 2 and a game at 4. All the games in groups have to be at the same time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭celt262

Don't know what that rambling is about not many in school on a Saturday.

I don't miss many championship games but when I saw the way we lay down against Donegal i knew what was coming today. Father's day, I stayed home with the kids. Thankfully. Another embarrassing half of football.

Going as expected 17-8 down at H/T, Donegal saving us. 17 pts is some scoring but we mustn't be getting near them

FT 31-18 but Donegal win with last kick to put Cavan through. Completely out of our depth

Be better off out of it probably another embarrassment next week now.

One game from Croke Park and yet Cavan fans are really hurting tonight .. another gutless performance served up from this team and management..

Hopefully the county board take a fresh approach after next week's hammering .. I have never seen such a disconnect between the fans and our county team and something needs to change.

Yep. A stay of execution. Another holy show today. Some lads at the end of the road.

With a 13 pt deficit today Cavan were the least competitive Div 2 team on show this weekend. Bear in mind we finished on the same league points as Meath and Cork and 2 ahead of Louth and Down. If we're being honest we have little business in these prelim finals. Never witnessed such disinterest amongst Cavan support. And I do hope I'm proved wrong yadda yadda…,

Nobody said anyone was in school on a Sunday. I said that , after a Saturday evening game, no matter how late it is, the majority of supporters/players do not have work or children have school on the next day. That isn’t the case with a Sunday evening match. Interesting to hear Michael Murphy reference the 3 hour drive Donegal have on a Sunday evening in his radio speech after their game. If it’s good enough for him to reference, I think it’s a justified point.

Let’s just hope we don’t draw Kerry away. You could be lucky to get 100 Cavan supporters. It’s tough to see some great players over the last decade for our county amble towards their retirement. We’ve let them down badly.

Didn't make it to the game today. I listened on the radio and watched Mayo Donegal on the telly. Mayo levelled on 69m and we took a heavy defeat. I thought that was it.

Donegal went up and banged one over to win it. Another day out. Kerry, Dublin, Donegal or Down away. Obviously we want Down away.

It's strange, because at the start of the year if you were offered AI prelim Quarter final, and a kick of the ball away from D1 you'd have took hand and all.

I think it's because when we play well we are good and we know they can do it and it's just the inconsistency tbat annoys the follower the most.

Cavan is the third trending item on Irish Twitter because the majority of GAA supporters across the country are saying it’s a farce we are still in it with our score difference. It’s embarassing.

Oisin McConville beat the Gowna Development Manager’s team with Wicklow today. I mentioned him previously here and was criticised but I’d go and get him. We’ve a man in charge at the minute never even managed a juvenile team at his club.

It is a farce.. I have been following Cavan football a long time and I can never remember a sombre feeling like this tonight and this kind of a disconnect with the supporters..

Today just confirmed to me Galligan is an absolute bluffer who has winged his was way into a job. I don't blame him for taking a job on but honestly who in the county board signed off on this ? It will send us back years..

Look at Robbie Brennan in Meath - Colm O Rourke kept telling us them boys are years away.. things can change quickly when a decent set up is there ..

Hard to know where to go from here. I am convinced we have the talent in that team. Tactically we are woeful. We have lads who can score massive points in club football afraid to take on a man or have a shot. We have not adapted to the new rules at all.

The club championship this year is vital as we need some new blood. Lads may have been overlooked before because how the game was back then.
