yet again a fascinating final paragraph utterly detatched from reality. Gotta get the digs in no matter what.

Well it really isn't that easy to just leave, especially when hamas are actively preventing this and anyone speaking out against them is liable to end up dead. They can't seek asylum in their neighbouring arab countries because they aren't allowed in. And they dont provide aid either. Why is no one trying to put pressure on these countries to do something in such a dire situation? Probably do more good than futile freedom flotillas and marches into Egypt where they have a literal impenetrable border wall.

Ok thanks that's all I was asking . Hamas won't allow them . Egypt won't allow them . So they are sitting ducks for IDF air strikes . Horrific really.

And when you have ethnically cleansed Gaza, what then? Move Israelis in and/or do the same to the West Bank? I'd say there is a lot you refuse to understand.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,070 ✭✭✭Sweet.Science

No I understand Gaza will be a wasteland for the next decade at least .

Indeed - the current ding dong between Iran and Israel is capturing the eyes of the world.

Perfect opportunity for the IDF to get in more War Crimes while no one is watching.

But you accept that moving them all out is ethnic cleansing? That's a specific question on ethnic cleansing lin case you missed it. You don't seem bothered by it.

10 years you say. And ultimately do you think the Gazans would ever return home? What's the long term picture for you? For example, will Israel annex any of Gaza?

I asked this already - do you think the same will/should happen in the West Bank?

5 questions there. I suppose I'll get a vague irrelevant sentence back.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

If they are forced out of Gaza, they will never be allowed return by the regime. A place where their grandparents and great-grandparents lived - their home and where all of their roots and history is. How can they call themselves a 'Gazan' in future if Gaza ceases to exist?

Seems Gaza might get respite for a short while whilst the IDF go and burn down Tehran. Israel now in full berserker mode.

    Haaretz:

    • The IDF said Gaza has become a secondary front in the war, with the primary focus now having shifted to Iran.
    • Netanyahu said that Israel will strike "any site and any target of the Ayatollah regime." "In the very near future, you will see Israeli air force jets over the skies of Tehran," he said.
    • Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that if Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei "continues to fire missiles at Israel's home front – Tehran will burn."

Netanyahu doing as he pleases, when he pleases, the guy is psychotic but operating with the full support of Macron, Trump, Starmer, Von DerLeyen they all stand as one behind Israel..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,492 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Of course they haven't. Alleged War Criminal #1 will make certain they don't because it doesn't suit his political agenda and he needs to save his own backside. He doesn't want the hostages released either.

That's why he reneged on the last ceasefire - to keep his new best mate Ben-Gvir (convicted terrorist) on-side. They're the quintessential "International Crime Gang" - seems they're also now best buddies with another Crime Gang in Gaza too.

    Birds of a feather.

Nice to see you back posting by the way.

    The slaughter continues -

"At least 15 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire as they gathered near an aid distribution centre in central Gaza, hospitals say.

Officials at al-Aqsa and al-Awda hospitals said people were shot by troops near a site run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which is backed by Israel and the US. It is inside the Israeli military's Netzarim Corridor."

How some Irish (assuming they are Irish) can defend not just colonists, but colonists as putrid as Israel/Zionists will boggle my mind for years to come. (Much in the same way so-called Irish fought for the British empire...)

At least with the Iran attacks, we can finally park the very redundant "Oct 7" argument and acknowledge that Israel are having another go at large scale expansion, which they were very embarrassingly unsuccessful in doing in the 1960/70s despite having US troops fighting their battles directly.

Saying "US troops fought Israel's battles directly in the 60s" is actually completely historically incorrect.

What are you talking about, The Six Day war? Yom Kippur? The only US military involved in either of those wars were the ones killed by Israel in an maybe-not-an-accident encounter.

If you're going to talk about Israel, Gaza, Palestine, the history of the region, can you not just stick to the actual facts? Do they not speak for themselves?

Comprehensive report on GHF from the BBC.

Needless to say, it all seems rather shady.

Israeli starvation tactics clearly in full swing and their attacks on Iran are the perfect cover for their genocide to continue unabated - or even be accelerated.

I press Bill Deere, of UNRWA, on Israel and GHF's criticism, that Hamas was diverting aid under the UN system. He says Israel has never offered proof.

"This is just a made-up excuse in order to create a system that looks like it's helping people without actually helping people," he says.

imagine been a British soldier and been asked to go to the Middle East to help the Israel murder machine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,777 ✭✭✭Markus Antonius

Try not to bring a banana to a gun fight. The dogs in the street know about US citizens role in Israel's expansion campaign over the last 80 years. Try researching the Machal or lone soldiers, and that's without even mentioning the Military bases...

Surprise surprise - Israel using the Iran campaign to quietly go about their Genocide in Gaza.

Is there any Nation as murderous as this?

"Gazans who spoke to Haaretz in recent days described a marked escalation in attacks amid Israel's strike on Iran. An eyewitness from the Jabalya and Al-Mawasi refugee camps said heavy gunfire was opened on Palestinians approaching aid distribution points"

    Jack Khoury

    ■ GAZA: The Hamas-run Health Ministry said that 57 Palestinians were killed and 315 others were wounded by IDF fire in Gaza over the past day, adding that 26 died as they waited to receive humanitarian aid. Reports in Gaza and health officials said at least 13 Palestinians were killed in shooting incidents near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's aid distribution points.

    57. The sheer volume of people killed each day is unbelievable, and no functioning hospitals for the injured to go to. Gaza is hell on earth.

I wonder if the Iranian people trust Netanyahu - an inveterate liar?

    The hypocrisy is sickening:

    Iran:

The Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed Israel is on the side of the Iranian people.

    Gaza:

When asked how he expects to make peace with people who have lost their loved ones — in some cases their entire families — to Israel's military campaign in Gaza, Netanyahu said "any civilian death, and any death of any child, is a tragedy."

Netanyahu and others in Israel have been planning the elimination of the Palestinian people for decades. Max Hastings, while writing a biography of Netanyahu's brother Yoni in the 70's said "At Bibi Netanyahu's dinner table in Jerusalem I listened with crawling dismay to Bibi talking about the future of his country. 'In the next war, if we do it right we’ll have a chance to get all the Arabs out', he said. 'We can clear the West Bank and sort out Jerusalem'.

This is the type of psychopath that's in charge of Israel right now. Netanyahu looks down on other Jews because of their skin colour, so his opinion on the worth of a Arab would be even less. What's happening in Palestine right now has been part of Netanyahu's goals for some time.

Indeed - yet other posters would have you believe it is Israel that is under existential threat.

But that's just a cloak to hide their true intentions - intentions that have been clear for a long time as you say. And if you listen to Israeli ministers and senior officials, they have no problem stating it on the record.

Which of course will be use as damning evidence at the ICC and ICJ.

The only people in the Middle East who are under "existential threat" are Israel's neighbours.

A small piece of good news -

"The four main Israeli company stands at the Paris airshow have been shut down after exhibitors reportedly refused to remove some weapons from display.

The stands at the aerospace industry event were hidden from view after pressure on the organisers from the French government, a source told the Guardian."

One thing to put the destruction of Gaza into perspective is that it's only a bit under half the size of Louth. If you bombarded the half of Louth between Drogheda and Tallanstown for a couple of years, you would say this is unnecessary to the point of complete absurdity. OK, largely because Louth is bad enough as it is, but also because it's an insanely small area to concentrate that much firepower on for that long.

Good post and analogy - puts it in perspective. But I'm sure Louth is beautiful - especially this time of year.
