    I think he means Vardy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭All_in_Flynn

Why? We have made a bid for him which has been rejected. Mbuemo by all accounts has expressed a desire to join us and I'd imagine we would eventually come to an agreement with Brentford for him.

If he ends up choosing Spurs over us then we just move on to another target. We need players who want to play for us.

As the back ups back up I would, absolutely not as a starter.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

Decent player, had him in mind myself but can't see the club paying the money Brentford want for a player (with Mbeumo going they'll dig their heels in) who'll be 29 in 3 months.

Dublin have produced some great keepers over the years. So no doubt the genes are solid!

The problem with Hojlund isn't so much his age, it's his experience.

Between United, Atalanta and Denmark, in the last 3 seasons alone. He's knocked in 44 goals. It's not a great total, but acceptable for a young lad.

The problem is that he's played 154 matches most of 4/5 of which have been international/PL games. He's may be young but he's not inexperienced. And he certainly hasn't improved. in fact in almost every aspect he's arguably gotten worse.

That's the worry, 3 seasons and getting worse instead of getting better, despite plenty of opportunities.

You'd hope he'd come good, but it's increasingly looking like he's a busted flush.

It's obvious who he's talking about... Chris Wood.

If we are going for Gyokeres, I would be seeing if Sporting (and him) were open to a loan deal for Hojlund.

United buck viewing figure trend — as rivals tune in to watch them lose. Despite a downturn in viewers for Sky and TNT Sports, Ruben Amorim’s side are the most-watched team in the Premier League, but schadenfraude likely plays a part

Matches involving Manchester United defied the overall drop in Premier League viewing figures last season despite their dreadful campaign.

As revealed earlier this week, Sky Sports registered a 10 per cent fall in average viewer numbers after two previous record-breaking seasons, while TNT Sports also had a decrease.

Yet United’s games continued to do well in terms of ratings despite their worst season since the Premier League was formed in 1992.

United are almost certainly the club with the biggest following in England — a recent Statista survey put them ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal. But one broadcast insider suggested that United’s poor displays may have also attracted rival fans in greater numbers, to revel in some schadenfreude.

    Hated

    Adored

    Never ignored

Hang on, it said we're more supported than Liverpool and Arsenal, but what about City? Surely they must have colossal support in order to generate all that income of theirs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,070 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Could be highest viewing figures because we were so bad it was like watching a comedy.

Need an INEOS sponsorship for 100m.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,204 ✭✭✭paulbok

I wonder will there be a big new training sponsor deal announced, including the training ground?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,827 ✭✭✭nachouser

Surely FC Lausanne-Sport would be willing to take a punt on Rashford / Antony / Sancho to the tune of a few hundred mil? Isn't that how things are done nowadays?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

they need to organise that + a new training ground sponsor. time to start growing the revenue.

as an aside, spurs currently bringing ineos to court about pulling their sponsorship.

Spurs file High Court claim against Ratcliffe's Ineos.

"We have a contractual right to terminate our partnership contract and in December 2024 exercised that right."

Think you may have missed the part about potential to be good Vs finished product as opposed to yamal who is fully the finished product already at 17 while still having potential to be even better. He would come in and have the ability now to hit the numbers we need

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

Yes, because he wage demands are/were ginormous. Hence going to Saudi Arabia. Wasn’t he on about 500 a week at United?
His agent wasn’t trying to get him a move at normal wages

i didnt think barce would go for rashford, but this would certainly be the final nail in that coffin.

the only clubs i can see (where there is a good chance of starting) that he may want are bayern and atleti - other clubs that are interested, i dont he would want to move to.

t'will be a long summer sage i fear, which will prob end in another loan.

Barcelona, meanwhile, met with Williams on Friday regarding a potential move to the Catalan region. A matter of moments after that was reported, Lamine Yamal shared a picture of him and Williams together.

In that case, if Williams were to leave Bilbao, then he would prefer to stay in La Liga and would open the door to Barcelona - as long as they are interested in formalising the deal and triggering his release clause. Williams is close friends to several players in the Barca dressing room and would, seemingly, welcome that option.

It's amazes me about city and the media.

Manchrster City spent the guts of 300 million on 5/6 players between winter and early summer transfer window.

    Nothing said.

Manchester City manager, Pep says if the squad gets any bigger he'll leave.

    Nothing said.

The whole 115 charges against Manchester City

    Nothing said......

All so contradictory but if you change one word in all that, the media would go bananas and it would be a daily article/news story.

    City - Utd

An empire built on cheating and dirty money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,954 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Not sure how reliable Ben Jacobs is (below Ornstein & Ducker I don't keep track), but he reckons that although Spurs are interested in Mbeumo, the player still refers a move to United.

Also says that United never made a second formal bid (as others reported) but will be doing so shortly after ongoing discussions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,466 ✭✭✭SteM

Jacobs is a D tier journalist imho, certainly when it comes to United.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

ornstein already said he chose us over spurs. maybe frank going to spurs influences that.

i didnt think we had made a 2nd bid? more so we are negotiating with brentford so when the 2nd bid is put it has already been accepted.

EXCL: Bryan Mbuemo decides he wants to join Man Utd & #MUFC now expected to open talks with Brentford in bid to sign 25yo forward this summer. Likes of #AFC #NUFC #THFC all interested but Cameroon int’l favours Old Trafford if deal agreed @TheAthleticFC

Need to get some of these players out as well pronto.

*Rashford can just be gone. No one cares about you. Looking for a Barca move that's not going to happen. 30m

Garna, see ya later, another ego, though might work in our fabour for price tag. Huge potential but no. Attitude stinks, thinks hes better than he is. Had huge hopes for him but, his ego/attitude has him better than he thinks he is. 50m

*Sancho. Club done everything for you. ETH sent you to a specialist in his homeland, got 3/4 months by the club to get yoursef ready mentally.

Went to Dortmund on loan and think done better than he was. Another her season on loan to Chelsea's who paid to not want you.

Cancel the contract for a hit the the club would getand be done. Clearly something not right there. Professionally as a footballer an embarrassment.

*Antony, go and flourish abroad but give the club about 40m worth.

Funnily enough, ETH was against the price that was paid for Antony and was looking at more the 40 mil range for him,.club went ahead though. All sounds a weird transfer.

If we got rid of the above 3 and signed no1, that's huge amount of wages gone and sets us up for next summer.

United teasing a big reveal of Cunha's shirt number. Most expected it to be the number 10 but are they holding off on that until Rashford leaves?

Every man and his dog knows that he's done at United but to strip his number would really wave the flag saying "we're desperate to shift him, will accept some Tesco vouchers and a fill of petrol".

City are a nothing club. No one really gives a hoot about them. They can only fill their stadium about 3 times a season
