And did you notice that the barman who is standing in a snowdrift serving “ ice cold “ beer is wearing a nice shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

Time is not constant, it can fluctuate. If you want proof watch any of the funeral plan ads that seem to go on forever.

That Aldi ad where the car is broke down and yer wan bladdering on the phone as she is stuffing her face.

That pineapple on pizza advert is the worst I have seen, I cant stand it for more than 2 seconds.

it is just so unfunny and stupid, like we are Irish not Italian, like we are experts on pizza or food for that matter, our greatest gift to the food world is coddle, raw looking sausages stewed for a week with whatever other left overs you have in the house and road kill.

No! No! Potato cakes, and, and.. Boxty! (wtf is boxty?). Drisheen, and Colcannon. There you are. Pure Gourmands us.

I worked with a lad who done a PhD on Coddle and Sausages. He's on tv all the time when Irish foods are in the news.

🤮🤮 At the mention of coddle it's disgusting.

I've got to admit it - cant bate a nice deep pan thick crust pizza …. with Pineapple on top .
Had family round last Wednesday and had a Hawaiian pizza from Domino's it was lovely. - I must say I like the Tesco advert especially yer 2 neighbour wan's arguing about pineapple on pizza. There are a lot worse ads on at the moment.

Don't know if anyone has seen this. On UK tv Confused.com have an ad with a woman on a laptop, camera pans out to show a fella in one room on a phone and the woman in the other room. She suddenly turns into a blow up doll and floats up. I have no clue what point if any they are trying to make! I find it totally bizarre

ya its confusing … all there adverts are weird and confusing …. thats why they are called confused.com i suppose

I’m sorry but the Lidl “ caring “ add is absolutely disgusting. The only thing that Lidl and any other commercial company “ care “ about is the bottom financial line. It appears nowadays that nothing is off limits when it comes to advertising standards including using helpless people to promote their “ caring “ agenda AND spraying your asyhole and ballys with chemicals to stop them smelling.

Sorry cannot agree with you there. A nice thick slice of fried boxy , couple of rashers , sausages and a fried egg. Absolutely set you up for the day.

And the Ad doesn't say they'll actually do anything for someone caught in that situation, it's even more horrible than that Cadbury's Ad.

The new Currys ad is hard to beat for stupidity and annoyance. I suppose the fact I'm posting about it is testimony to it's effectiveness.

I like it. It’s OTT for sure but that’s a comedy element. I think it’s good they’re speaking directly to people with disabilities.

    PowerPoint slide from the advertising pitch;

    1. Run 5 second clip of impoverished/disadvantaged/marginalised person
    2. Overlay with caption that says 'we Care'
    3. Measure retail stats survey to determine associated sales land profit increase
    4. Pay bonus to creative executive.

It's similar to the one for Sure where the refer to areas of the bodies (to be sprayed, obviously, rather than washed). "Ta-tas…Balls…". 🤮

I thought it was a bit of a coincidence that these two ads were on at the same time, that two advertising teams could come up with the same crass idea, but after checking, Lynx and Sure are both Unilever products. 🙄

i hope they have changed the chemicals for the ones you spray on your balls because thats one 'sure' way to get urinary tract infections and dermalogical problems down there spraying deodorant around your dinkle like that!

The Lynx bum sprayer actually sprays it on the arse of his trousers rather than on his bare ass. Will that not leave a big discoloured patch around his hole?

the LIDL 'caring' would be maybe much more helpful if they sent around a paid nurse/carer to the persons house for a couple of hours whilst the family member had a bit of respite/gone out for a coffee or somewhere or paid for them to go on a holiday and provide care or offer free groceries/essentials for carers …. other than that I dont really get what they are at?

Exactly, the most condescending pointless Ad out there, at least when they were driving us crazy boasting their support for the ladies GAA they were actually putting money towards them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,331 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

And when they were supporting Parkrun they were giving us freebies.

Whilst kind of agreeing with the distaste for "charity" advertising, Lidl are at least doing their bit to raise awareness. This from their website:-

"Through this partnership (family carers Ireland), we have pledged to raise €1 million and grow national awareness of the 500,000+ people caring for loved ones with additional needs in our communities all over Ireland."

Each ad carries the charities details and website link.

Much better than the Cadburys Alzheimer's ad. They state that "we have donated £200,000 to Alzheimer’s Research UK" but this feels more like "we paid a trivial amount to charity to cover our crass advertising idea"

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

Tesco whooosh ads are so annoying.

I think it's been universally agreed on this thread by now that this is the most annoying ad ever to see the cathode light of day.

    '' Oh look, a tractor ''.

The family in that advert for Aldi are really annoying.

Paul Mescal and the sausage one, Ballyhaunis!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,728 ✭✭✭deezell

Wait now, whose €1M will this be? The public, who reads the charity address on the side of a litre of milk. And for this cost free contribution, they get free equity in the emotive caters organisations brand and needs, without putting in a cent. " I'm going to shop in lidl to support the carers". Eh, they'll get fk all of your spend. So,,, Lidl? Fup Off.

At least there is no repetitive annoying music on it and given its aldi, likely won't be still on the television in 2046...

Wtf is RTE thinking with that vomit-inducing ad for James Joyce bollix and some granny booming an orgasm into every living room in the country? Do they not realise that children and elderly watch this stuff the absolute sickos.
