I don't mind the time played at the very end of extra time but the free against Casey was very harsh. Owens of course thinks his job is about producing drama.

Some interesting videos of Cork celebrations doung the rounds,i have a feeling they might live to regret them but only time will tell

Did you think Casey himself was fouled or that he didn't overcarry? Would have been an incredibly soft free to give Casey at that stage particularly in light of how the game had been refereed up to that point and I felt that he did overcarry.

Both teams felt like they were hard done by by the referee on the day which seems to be the norm in hurling these days!

Usually when a player overcarries while being dragged it's let go. Given everything that happened in that game and in general I'm surprised Owens didn't just play on.

It was definitely more a free in than free out if it was anything at all.

The game was technically a draw. Swear they beat us convincingly.

They have 3 weeks to get over it. Limerick celebrated their Munster victories with a night out too.

Lads, I still think Limerick have the highest ceiling by far of any contender. Limerick have dished out hammerings to every other big hurling county over the last few years in the championship, yet your only defeats have been incredibly tight games decided by the finest of margins.

If Limerick play to their maximum the truth of the matter is that no other county can live with them. I still make them favourites. With all their titles in recent years I though that hunger and motivation could be the only area where they are lacking at times, but the video of the Cork sing-song might help them in that regard. Sometimes a team needs a bit of bitterness to reignite the flame. For example, many said they weren't top dog anymore and it was the end of the era before they went out and destroyed Cork the last day. It's funny how the mind works.

All that being said I believe that the Kilkenny semi-final will be a tougher game than the final for Limerick. Kilkenny are very consistent and will never drop below a 7 out of 10 performance. Limerick may be looking towards Cork in the final and if their mentality isn't right, and if they don't give Kilkenny full respect and attention it could be a tough day at the office, and another very tight one decided by the smallest of margins.

The penalties were convincing. 1 miss for Cork and three missed for Limerick. Cork led Limerick for most of the game until the 69th min of normal time. There was plenty of Limerick jokes a few weeks ago and in 2021 when ye hammered Cork, works both ways. Nothing worse than when a set of supporters who dish it out but can't take it the when it goes against you. Take the beating and move on. From what I see some Limerick supporters are poor at accepting defeat, John Kiely included.

it was….the scoreboard clock was on 5 mins for a while then reset back to 4:10 ish when play started again

Exactly. Kiely always made a point about enjoying and celebrating the munster wins as should be done. Otherwise what's the point. As a Cork fan I'd have been happy enough leaving the GG even in Cork lost on penalties. There's bigger fish to fry for both teams and everybody knows that.

We'll agree to disagree on the Casey free. I didn't see much dragging but I'm also acutely aware of my bias!

watched it back this morning…he over carried, went looknig for the free….O'Neil and Flanaghan were outside him on the left free looking for the ball. Game was there for us and we threw it away.

Cork should definitely celebrate the win. A Munster title is always a huge achievement, they are hard won.

I have no problem with them celebrating of course they are entitled to it its the songs and the chanting im talking about

At the end of 90 mins, Limerick will have been kicking themselves the most for not winning that game. We had enough opportunities and on another day we'd take them and win by 3-4 but thems the breaks. If we were down a point I reckon Casey would have got a free at the end but despite issues with the ref, we had enough chances. Cork winning the toss for penalties was basically the decider in the end - the noise and distraction from the Cork supporters on that terrace had a major impact on the Limerick penalty takers and fair play to those supporters, we'd have done the same if it was down at our end. When gifted hurlers are rattled to the point of being unable to rise and strike a ball cleanly, you can only imagine the pressure they must have felt in that situation. A crappy way to decide an epic encounter - I'd prefer if we played sudden death type extra time where first team to score 4-5 points is the winner - at least you win it on the field of play. Will be interesting to see the qf approach - pick the strongest team as we have at most only 3 games left and we need to settle on team/game plan from here on or rest players for sf. I'm for the former. Finally, the health and safety clampdown on flares/smoke things is a real shame. Cork support brings great colour and noise and when you mix that with Limerick, I think it makes for the best atmosphere in the country - the noise and colour at the throw-in at last year's PUC match was spine tingling and despite the result (and being a round robin game of little consequence to us), one of the greatest sporting occasions I was ever at.

As alot suspected limerick werent as good and cork as bad as the round robin game.Very frustrating game all up, the referee tried to let it flow but left too much go and it descended into alot of pulling and dragging, combined with the misses and mistakes both sides were guilty of, it made for a close, tense but far from classic game. O'Donovan will have nightmares about his miss in normal time, after a good first half Limerick never got going in the 2nd and could never get into a flow, after each point back they'd have a miss which deflated things. On the plus side the frustration should drive them on and make them hyper focussed to do better if/when they get to Croker, alot of talk of being very hard to beat the same team 3 times in 1 season and they done the record munster wins last year so this one was a 'nice to win'. Lots to play for yet, Cork chanting with their manager in the picture telling limerick to f*ck off home will hopefully come back to bite them, hard to be good winners when you've no practice at it for 20 years!

It might work out better in the long run with the defeat(albeit not really a defeat but losing in the penalties lottery) fueling motivation to come back and beat Cork should the anticipated rematch occur. A match against Dublin won't be any harm but KK will be tough opponents in Semi. Limk also need to be on their guard for Dublin. We hit alot of poors wides and also took the wrong options for goals in the first half. We still have the 6 in a row record and the run in Munster was going to come to an end at some stage so overall while disappointing not to have the cup I think their will be serious motivation within the group to win All Ireland.

Saw that video on line with all limerick won they never did that carry one to another county no wonder there hated all over ireland but they'll win no all ireland now that'd for sure.

This is ludicrous. There's absolutely nothing in that video.. Harmless craic amongst teammates having a few drinks celebrating a hard fought win.

The bit of needle between management teams at half time aside, and considering the amount of hard hitting and some on the edge tackling, I don't remember a single dirty stroke or any real handbags or messing between the players on the field the last few times they've played.

I think we have to take this type of stuff on the chin. We gave plenty of stick to Cork during and after the previous match.
