And there seems to be a genuine collective effort happening in kildare to improve hurling.. the county board there appear to be supportive.. unlike say Meath where the County board couldn't give a toss about hurling..

    Hammered in the end.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's no all ireland in this Laois team

The Munster Council fella hogged the spotlight last night too, poor Cork fellas would have missed closing time by the time it was all done.

If Kerry are promoted Munster becomes a 6 team group and Leinster drops to 5. Bottom in Munster is then relegated the following year with a Leinster team promoted.

Despite all the structure being in place they've done very little in underage hurling. Usually beaten handy enough at Minor and under 20 grand. That's where the focus needs to go.

Naas have driven a lot of the improvements, lots of good work being done, big feeder for the county team.

Amazing achievement by Kildare and well deserved. The likes of Galway, Wexford and Kilkenny possibly going to Newbridge is huge for them. Dublin next week is a free shot with nothing too lose as the main job is achievement

Fear for Laois though facing a Tipp team out to make a point

I'd give kildare no chance next week against the dubs.

Great to see it all the same. Dublin V Kildare in a knockout hurling match.

I'm on the verge of a site ban. Please don't rage bait me, I'm easily triggered especially late at night!

Galway keeper outside his square for nearly every puckout.

As a Meath man it breaks my heart to see the disrespect hurling gets especially after the disrespect the GAA has shown football in this county over the last 2 decades.

Meath and Kildare have big populations. Big potential for hurling to grow.

Much cleaner game so far than last night, lots of good stick work, open enough. Game is lost in croker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,051 ✭✭✭almostover

Fairly sure it does, but what is the hurling rulebook? You've neanderthals like Anthony Daly and Henry Shefflin on TV lamenting about how the game needs to be let flow!

What happens then is the shite we saw in the first half of the Munster Final yesterday. Both sides aggrieved over obvious fouls not called and then some embarassing pushing and shoving by the management teams at half time.

Could RTE commentators please please stop using the term 'quarterback'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 950 ✭✭✭MattressRick

It's not dire though. Plenty of stick work, tackling, good scores, wides. Same as last night. But it's a classic if it's in Munster.

There was more grabbing last night than in a rugby match but somehow that's great to watch.

’workrate… de workrate… intensity and workrate’

My god can they talk about something else

Galways don't seem to have enough pace inside to worry Kilkenny. Mannion and Whelan good hurlers keeping Galway in this but will have a breeze second half.

This isn't a great match so far. Lots of poor play all over the field.

Fairly scrappy last 15 mins, Kilkenny probably will win pulling up. Game should never be CP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,434 ✭✭✭testtech05

Great save by Murphy unlucky for him it still ended up in a goal but killkenny deserving of their lead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭patob

Some terrible passing by Galway. Did I hear the commentators excuse the David Burke pass straight into Lawlor with no Galway player within 30 yards ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,218 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

GGalway working far more and still behind, get a sense of inevitability about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,118 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

Kilkenny will finish up winning this at a canter by about 10 points.

Poor enough throughout the first half. Little intensity. Even with thousands of free tickets it's a poorly attended game. A few more goals might liven it up. It needs something.

Duignan can never call a foul a foul either. You could always argue that he got the ball is his constant refrain. Smash a lad across the arm, ball pops out, could argue he got the ball. Fcuk him out over the sideline, ball pops out, could argue he got the ball. He was a timber merchant when he played and it never left him.

Galway goalkeeper got the KK player booked there feigning injury. What a joke.
far harder hits out into KK players heads, and do you see them getting players booked, no!
    Hate, that.

Every goalie at it. Nash and Quaid last night. Both JMD goalies today. Players stepping across the 21 on frees constantly happening. Hurling literally has no rules at the moment. You have no idea what will be enforced and what won't. The game will flow when players respect the rules, not when refs decide to ignore them.
