Ok brief description here. My bill pay contract is done with them quite some time ago and I'm looking to go to pay as you go

There are payg plans online which are all down as sim only plans and not great for me tbh. Think there is only 2 plans available and they both tie you into contracts which I'm not interested in.

If I ring them and listen to their usual sales stuff and all that do I then have access to all their other payg plans as anyone else would???

Guessing there's minimum notice period with them as well

I switched from bill pay to PAYG with them via their chat. It took about 24 hours to process. I just told them which option I would like them to switch me too and they did no probs.

Cheers yeah I'll have to wait until tomorrow then. Was dealing with their online robot Tobi and he made a booking for call back in next day or 2. So much the same as me giving them a call in the morning

Yeah the chat bot thing isn't great. Try it again tomorrow and you might get straight through without having to wait for the callback.

Can in-store like one their shops do anything for you or have they to go through the same hoops as well?

I moved from billpay 60e per month to payg 30e per month which is basically the exact same (unlimited everything) for half price, they done it over the web chat, it didn't take long, you have to top up manually first time and select the offer you want eg 20,30e etc but you can set up monthly auto top up which is akin to being on billpay anyway .

haha yeah its basically the bill pay to payg move I'm at as well.

Generally I've found they don't do notice period if you're staying with them, you'll just agree a date to switch from bill pay to PAYG with them.

Currently I see 3 different PAYG plans available, SIM only as presumably you don't want another phone?

I can't see any mention of contracts on PAYG so not sure what you're looking at, the whole point of PAYG is no contract.

IMO there are better PAYG options available if you're willing to consider switching networks.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Public transport user? If you're sick of phantom ghost services on the 'official' RTI sources, check bustimes.org for actual 'real' RTI, if it's on their map it actually exists.

Just signed into my vodafone since I texted Tobi last night and now they've given me access to the rolling pay as you go options.

Before this they only had 2 pay as you go options but they were both based on 12/24 month contracts.

Sounds a bit quick for something they said they would call me back about.

Is this the norm for myvodafone users??? If it is I'm just going to select my payg option now.

Assuming obviously I will need to pay the remainder of my current month's billing which is factored in with the topup

If your current bill is on dd than just leave it as normal, to get your payg plan you need to text the relevant code and obviously have topped up the amount before hand. Sim only are not good value, subject to a minimum contract and yearly increase too.

Yeah the sim thing is basically the trick to make me get in contact with them so they could sell me something :-D

And do I get onto my selected pay as you go plan immediately once I follow the instructions??

Right went through the instructions and reply was

"Your number is already on the Vodafone Network, please visit MyVodafone to check if you’re eligible for an upgrade or to change plan"

Yes I'm eligible for an upgrade but I'm not interested. Or to change plan? Well obviously

So I'm guessing that's what this call is all about then??

I haven't topped up by the 30 euro. Is that the hold up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭pacoraban

And my number is not a valid pay as you go number. Duh

Tobi is not much good here then

Check within the app it should tell you if you are already active

Also this is a copy and paste of how to choose plan if not already active

    ..........................................

If you are already a pay as a you go customer, you can change your plan on the My Vodafone app or by logging in to vodafone.ie.

You can also change your plan via SMS:

Opt in to the plan of your choice by texting one of the below code words to 50222.

    • “EXULTD” – Extra Unlimited 5G
    • “DATAUL5G“ - Data Unlimited 5G
    • “CHAT EXTRA” –Chat Extra

Im still bill pay and its not giving me the prepay options. That's the thing.

You need to talk to a human somewhere along the line either via chat or call to switch from bill pay to PAYG, it is not a self-service item.

Well I've paid off the 24 month contract I had with them and never failed to meet a monthly repayment

Tobi better be having a rest at 9 bells in the morning

Human contact or other aside; In any event I'm free to transfer to any pay as you go plan of my choosing???

Yes, it's nothing really to do with your history, just the change from Bill pay to PAYG has to be done manually by an agent.

You can change to whatever PAYG plans you want.

Yeah its all sorted now. Got my preferred payg plan but they did try to sell me another contract deal.

All straightforward after that just had to play the waiting game
