    I am looking to see if this little yoke will kill two birds with one stone.

    I recently dusted of my HiFi and have been enjoying listening to CDs again, it was out of use for 10 or more years, so I had new belts put on the CD players.

    The set up is NAD C 340 amp and Epos ES-11 speakers. I have a Sony CDP-355 which acts like my library (holds 300 discs) and for playing new CDs or a particular disc I use a Pioneer PDR 609.

    I don't (at the moment anyway) want to spend a lot of money, I am just enjoying CDs over streaming at the moment, but I wanted to hook up the TV (LG 65UR91006LA - bought from you) for improved audio, I am not interested in surround or 5.1 etc, plain stereo is fine. I see the Fosi has HDMI input and then I was wondering if using it as a DAC for the CD players would be an improvement too?

    Also, forgive my ignore, but what are the benefits, if any of using it as a pre-amp, I can see that can be bypassed too, I am just not sure what the pre amp bit does.

    The Fosi ZD3 is a fantastic unit - using it as a DAC for your CD player you would need to use the digital out from your CD player and run it into the analogue on the Fosi. It should be an upgrade over the existing DAC in CD Player - it would depend on the DAC that's built into the CD player but generally a stand alone DAC would be an improvement on the built in DACs. It also have the HDMI input so you can use it with the TV.

    It can be used with dedicated Fosi amplifiers as a pre amp - this means you can adjust the volume to power amps via the pre amp however if you're using it as a DAC I would generally run it at full and adjust the volume via your integrated amplifier.
