    Hi, new here.

    I had my interview few days ago. For me personally it was a disaster. 😬🙈 I know I did awful, waffling. I was interviewed by two people, one of the interviewers was very nice, the other interviewer I found very condescending to the point of a bit rude. (Just 'my' experience)

    They stuck to the competencies in my application form & expanded on those so I would say know your application form. I had other examples ready but didn't use any of them.

    Anyways glad to have it over. Hope you get nice interviewers. Best of luck in your interview.

    That sounds like it was a very tough experience. It certainly doesn't help to put the candidate at ease. The interview experience might be too fresh and you might have done better than expected.

    I had a similar experience with the general EO competition from a couple of campaigns back.

    I've held management positions before and know I can do it well. However, I'm one if those people who struggle with interviews, regardless of all the prep. I find it all very contrived.

    Fingers crossed you do well. If not, get specific feedback.

    I am the very same as this. I’m so bad at interviews that no matter how much I prepare I get myself so worked up that my mind goes blank during the interview. It’s such a traumatic experience that it turns me off applying. I’ve passed one EO interview (after taking a Valium beforehand to calm myself) and failed 2, and it’s so frustrating because I am an experienced CO in a busy department, work to deadlines, have managerial experience in previous private sector roles and always do very well on the tests

    Hi guys, another "internal" applicant. First of all, good luck to everybody who applied.

    I had my interview yesterday. It went fairly well. I did have one sticky moment but they came back and re-phrased the question and I managed to answer. I am just hoping I passed as I only barely failed the 2023 external competition.

    The interviewers are fair and decent. In addition to all the competency based questions/examples already mentioned, they also asked things like, how do you think Revenue are doing right now? How do you think Revenue are perceived by the general public? What do they do well? What do you think are Revenue's priorities right now? What do you think of remote working? Any negatives with remote working? Give us an example of an occasion when you learnt a lot whilst doing a project and what did you learn exactly? Have you ever been involved in a conflict situation within the workplace. Explain what happened and how it was resolved?

    I hope those examples help some of you guys waiting to be interviewed.

    Hope the results will be released as soon as possible.

    Good luck again, lads & lassies.

    @Justasking1979

    Yeah it was awful. I'm currently working in an equivalent position to an EO in the public sector but would prefer civil service but this interview just threw me off. Even the way the questions were asked. The condescending interviewer asked me what I did in a previous role and how I handled a situation, I explained what I did in the situation but the condescending interviewer proceeded to tell me I didn't always handle the situation like that (even though I did). 🙄 I felt like asking the interviewer did they work in that role.🤷🏼‍♀️

    Like yourself I do better when I'm actually in the role.

    Anyways I know I'm out of the running for this because as I said it was awful. I was sorry I even put myself through it but anyways onwards and upwards. Maybe though as you said I'll get feedback when the time comes.

    @Kellyf17

    I hear you, it's tough going.

    If they said to me here is a trial in the job I'd fly it. When it comes to these types of interviews I'm taken aback. 🙈

    @WishfulThinking You did your best! Stay positive, you got more knowlodge from that, hope you get trough, and since you are already in the public sector its a big plus in your application.

    @dubbloke100 Interesting — I don’t think they asked me many questions about Revenue, maybe one or two, and also some related to the role. As for remote work, it wasn’t very explicit — they didn’t actually use the words ‘remote work’. I felt like they focused more on my application and then expanded the questions from there, staying on the same topic within each competency. That was the impression I had when I left. I also found it pretty easy and straightforward. I mean, I could have done better for sure, but it was easier than I expected. I hope I get it — if not, at least now I know what to expect next time and will be better prepared.

    Angel, as I said, I am an internal applicant. If you are an external applicant, maybe they deliberately dont ask too many questions regarding Revenue. As I have worked there a number of years already, they probably just wanted to test my knowledge of how the organisation operates etc.

    @Angel Flora I wish I shared your enthusiasm but thank you. Like you I got asked no questions on Revenue or any of those other questions. Maybe that's because I'm an external applicant.

    Best of luck you to.

    In my case, it’s more about resilience and mindset 😅 I feel like I did my best at the time with what I had. Could I have done better? 100% 😂😂😂 Since then, I’ve already submitted three more applications for the public/civil sector. Hopefully, I’ll get there soon — and you too! I worked in the public sector years ago, but abroad, so I’m hoping to get back into it for the security, salary, growth, and everything else it offers.

    @Angel Flora

    😂 Good on you. I'm checking public jobs daily. 😅

    When I do have my interviews over - I do ask myself what rubbish did I just talk. 😂🙈Awww well..

    We'll definitely get there.....can't say when but hopefully soon. 🤞🏻

    Yes public sector/civil service is good for security & you get your yearly increments which is a bonus instead of having to ask for an increase. I would prefer civil service for flexibility.

    Well done for getting through the interview! It's all in good practice and will stand to you when applying for other public sector roles so keep at it and always ask for feedback whenever possible.

    I had a couple questions in my interview on auditing specifically, how I'd prepare for one, how I'd approach it etc. but I'm an outside candidate so it does seem like they're keeping the questions varied per candidate.

    Best of luck all - keep us updated here on results or where you end up. 👀 (just be sure to keep your OOM anonymous to avoid self-identifying)

    Hi, I haven’t heard a peep since I applied for this campaign. Anyone else heard nothing?

    How did your interview go?

    Any tricky questions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 Willow25

    My interview sounds like it was exactly like yours, and I'm an external applicant too. The interviewers stuck to the competencies and my application form, with a question or two on how I'd prepare for an audit. They tell you at the start that they will be going though the competencies in order, and also which interviewer will ask questions on each one. It flew by as there isn't a lot of time in 35 minutes to dwell on anything too much. I found the interviewers professional and friendly and they explained everything very clearly. I could definitely have done a better interview (learnings for me, but that's all on me! 😄) but I also thought it went fine.

    There's a subjectivity to these things, so who knows really until the results come out, but to anyone worried about how their interview went, don't worry at this point, just well done on getting through the process and there is a good chance you might have done much better than you thought!

    I emailed to find out about when we will hear back and as others have said it will be around mid-July, once the interview process is finished. I had about a week's notice, so plenty of time to get called for interview yet for anyone who hasn't heard, as there must be 4-5 weeks left of interviewing going by that.

    It was pretty straightforward, didn't find it a tough interview, no surprises, they went through the competencies. They asked about what challenges revenue is facing… other than that, it was mostly based on what I had on my form. I was done in 30 mins though, wondered if that is the norm, thought it was a bit short…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 Willow25

    Sounds right, they allocated 35 minutes per interview. I imagine that might vary by a few minutes depending on how the day is going, delays etc They are short interviews to be sure, but planned that way, so nothing to worry about.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 Orca34

    @Opportunity 22 as others have said it follows the exact same format as the application and I personally had alot of scenario type questions after each section on how I would deal with certain situations.

    They read through parts of your responses in the application with you and ask questions from that, rather than expecting you to go through the entire answer. Then some random generic interview questions.

    I found them really nice, one asked a bit more tedious questions based on my answers but the other was so helpful in offering prompts or suggestions to direct me to the answers they were looking for!

    You should have received an email with links, PDF guides etc a couple days after confirming your attendance? I'd search your emails or get onto em ASAP!
