Random query. Got it in my head that I was gonna surprise my other half with tickets and accomodation for the Ryder cup in 2027. Ive been a few times and know how limited the accomodation is there. So I have a big budget and rang adare to get ahead of the curve. The hotel and houses on the grounds will not be offered up to customers. I am wondering is everyone planning on sitting in traffic daily for 2 to 4 houra to watch? Bypass or no bypass there will still be major travel issues. Is the ryder cup not for tourism and the people of ireland or have I got rocks in my head?

In fairness, did you actually expect to be able to book a room there during the Ryder Cup?!

A house ...maybe? But is it odd that tourists/fans arent catered for? You are talking at least an hours drive AFTER u get to ur car to get to accomodation, minimum.

I'd imagine there'll be tons of airbnb, b&b options in the area around the times.

Tickets I'd imagine would be like hens teeth

For whatever reason I've little interest in going to a Ryder Cup as a spectator. Think it's possibly to do with so few players on course at any one time so the crowd is all in one part of course and probably makes viewing harder. I just think it would be a hassle and not worth it. I like attending tournaments in general, last year went over to Troon and also Wentworth. But there you get to spread out and follow groups in a relaxed manner.

Sure all the on site availability will be taken up ten times over for official accommodation. Never mind the security issue of allowing members of the public to stay there.

Should look at staying in Clare. Look at hotels around Bunratty/ Shannon/ Ennis. There will be multiple bus transfers around Ryder cup time direct to the course.

A room on the manor as it stands is 800 a night on a random Tuesday in the off season.

How much do you think it will cost on the week of the Ryder Cup.

Now not doubting you have a big budget and afford whatever the per night cost will be (3k per night I am guessing) but the people who can afford it usually wouldn’t be booking it themselves and would be dealing with concierge etc.

I dont get your point...my money is as good as anyones and I dont use a concierge and my budget is larger than that?

If you want to stay onsite you possibly need to consider becoming an official partner of some sort. I don't know if the rooms will even go on sale to the public. You're not going to have any chance of getting a room on site for a couple of grand. Maybe if you're willing to spend 10s of thousands you'll find one somewhere, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Yes, I'd imagine the entire site will be fully taken over by the teams, officials, etc...

I'll be amazed if there is any onsite accommodation on offer

Adare only has like 100 rooms I think.

Between players, officials, dignitaries, big sponsors etc there'll be no rooms going to Joe Public.

I'd say there will be lots of mobile homes/caravans available to rent around Rathkeale!

There was massive crowds there for the last JP pro-am and traffic moved very well so you should consider staying somewhere local.

Now I know you can’t compare it to the Ryder Cup but the Pro-am was sold out so presume there was maximum spectator capacity at the course.

It’s a big event so there will always be travel issues but it will be manageable…

I went to the last Ryder Cup in Rome , big city ok but public transportation is not the best like you would get in London or Paris. All transport to course was by massive park and rides, absolutely nobody was getting anywhere near course, not even taxis apparently though I did notice a few of these getting to within a mile or so.
Adare will be similar, all planned in advance, I would say very little unofficial traffic getting to within 5-10 miles of venue. Portrush was similar in 2019 for the Open and will be again this summer

Best way to get a room in Adare is to qualify for the team....

But in all seriousness, if you have as big a budget as your inferring, then you could helicopter in and out of Adare and stay in luxury somewhere like Doonbeg.

How in God's name did you get such a big budget if you genuinely think you could stay there during the tournament?? Lord God 🙈

I just had a peek at some of his previous posts. There was one where he was questioning wether he should apply for a bew build house to get his electricity connection ahead of completion as he didn't want to be paying for the electricity that the construction workers might be using in the job....yet has bundles of cash to blow on attending the Ryder Cup. Seems strange.

I think they may be confused about what a "big budget" looks like when dealing with something like the Ryder Cup. There will be lads at that spending 10k in the pro shop just to get a few hats and t shirts, not to mention everything else!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 365 ✭✭Feets

What an odd post. That question was an investment property which is currently producing income. Why would anyone want to pay for electricity when they dont have to?

It still surprises me when people assume my finances.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not? But do you actually think that Adare manor will be offering up rooms to the general public, the week of the Ryder Cup?? They won't even have enough accommodation for the players, families, sponsors etc as it is. Just because the golf course has a hotel on site, does not mean sh**t.

Look at hotels in, and around Limerick, or Clare and go from there.

How do tickets work for it? A ballot like in the majors?

How did it work for the k club, I was too young at the time. Although sports tickets have gone to a different level since then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,024 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

It was a ballot in '06. I know loads that entered and none got tickets.

I got an e-mail showing me two 2027 premium packages on offer on the European Ryder Cup website. No mention of ordinary (admission only) tickets yet.

If you've already registered, check your in basket. Not posting the link they sent me because it includes my login details.

Feel like its going to be a shake down when on the preliminary questions, its asking how much your group is prepared to spend per head
