How often to you hear woman taking care of their own kids referred to as ''babysitting"?

It might surprise you but kids don't just have mothers. Regardless of how much it seems to be made out that it's just about the mother.

Irish people and the UK is a funny one.

The prime example is of course with soccer. How many Irish people claim Celtic are an ''Irish'' team? A lot of Irish people are love to talk about history etc Yet how many Liverpool fans are in Ireland who happen to ignore the fact they were founded by a memeber of the Orange Order? I know it has little to do with them now but the whole argument with Celtic is because what they did for Irish people when they were founded etc

Why can companies like tiktok just get away with blatantly profiting from and destroying childrens and adults lives ? Answer: the EU administration is worthless or complicit. Also, why do we have to defer everything to the EU ? Answer: our leaders have no "balls". They are no use. I don't know why we elect them when they defer everything of any meaning to the EU. The only things they do at home is procrastinate until they can defer to the EU.

You can buy these on Ebay

    Anfield.jpg

Liverpool have a big following on the Shankill Road in Belfast.

So do Manchester United. Look how many Northern Ireland Protestants have lined out for them over the years.

The thing I hate most about Kneecap is the fact that they donated £7,000 to a Shankill youth project.

Oh so if someone on the Shankill Road likes something, we're not allowed to, is that it?

You can buy any old shite on eBay, proves nothing. And I'll bet that a lot more "southern catholics" have played for Man Utd than "northern protestants" - not that anyone with at least half a brain should care

If you want a united Ireland, then one day those disaffected Shankill youth won't be "somebody else's problem" any more

    That's a load of bollocks

The EU has specific powers in specific areas, but only those areas. The areas where member states have agreed to share sovereignty. Everything else is up to the national governments same as it ever was.

I always find that the people who give out the most about the EU know the least about it.

Ok, will wait for EU and/or Ireland to do something about tiktok et al spreading poison. They would want to hurry up. They've been allowed spread it for years.

theres an element of truth to whats being said, we ve shafted ourselves in relation to the way we have designed our modern political institutions, including our eu institutions, it effectively means little or no accountability and power within our so called democratic institutions, little or no ability to implement policies that attempt to try to protect the people, yielding in the rise of the plutocratic entities, that are running riot!

The people who try to justify supporting a foreign team by saying "oh they're the Irish/catholic club in that city" are complete idiots.

Just admit that you support them because they were really good when you were younger, it's hardly a coincidence that the vast majority of people in Ireland over the age of 40 tend to support either Man Utd or Liverpool or that the vast majority of those who support Man City or Chelsea are in their 20's now.

Also I'm really fed up of being told by the media I have to like both Liverpool the club and Liverpool the city just because there were loads of Irish immigrants historically in the city, there are almost certainly even more in London or Birmingham but nobody tries to make a similar argument about that. There was another stupid article in the independent yesterday about this. I've nothing against Liverpool as a team or a city but continually trying to make people feel they should have some liking for a city/team is just tedious.

I just cannot see what's so amazingly spectacular about the Beatles. I know they were very good, I like and love numerous songs by them - this isn't an edgy "the Beatles were crap" comment. I am absolutely not suggesting they were bad.

But the extreme veneration of them - I just don't get. I simply can't find the reason for that level of worship. Songs like When I'm 64, Yellow Submarine, All You Need Is Love - kinda silly imo.

And I don't get the worship of Nirvana either.

Yellow Submarine is awful but not as bad as Octopuses Garden.

all you need is love is ok, but nothing special however When I'm 64 is a lovely song , one of my favourites of theirs.

I hate the excessive coverage of the Beatles aswell but their music is brilliant in my opinion.60 years old and yet alot of their songs sound so fresh today, I think there is a timelessness to a lot of their songs.

The singer from Kiss was on desert island discs recently, when asked if there was one band, just one collection of songs that you could take with you onto the desert island, what band would it be?

    He answered The Beatles !!

Guess it had to be, as other bands have the odd hit and maybe one good album, The Beatles just kept making hits and inventing themes and sounds time and again. So much variety and interesting sounds from just one band 🎸

Most of the McCartney stuff is twee crap. Compare Lennon's solo career to his, it's pretty clear who was the thinker and who was churning out the commercial crap

Kiss are one of those completely rubbish, talentless acts that are inexplicably popular in the US but the rest of the world rightly has little or no time for them. They're nearly as bad as Aerosmith.

Kid Rock though is the worst, a prick with no talent who is famous for being famous.

The Lennon songs (yeah they were billed as Lennon/McCartney but we all know who wrote what)

    Norwegian Wood
    Nowhere Man
    In My Life
    She Said She Said
    Tomorrow Never Knows
    LSD
    A Day In The Life
    Across The Universe
    Come Together
    Revolution
The Ballad Of John And Yoko

are all great songs, superior to anything from Macca

Re: Nirvana, arguably their best album is Bleach and the second best is In Utero, but I bet you've only listened to the other one

You bet wrong (why make assumptions based on nothing?) I've listened to all Nirvana albums - I've been obsessed with music since the early '90s. I don't think they're bad - I know they had talent, but I don't think they're as amazing as made out to be. And of course this is just my personal opinion. Other bands I don't get the worshipping of are: My Bloody Valentine, Suede, REM and Depeche Mode. But nonetheless I still like some songs by them.

And there are many no doubt who don't get the big deal about bands that I love.

that people once they hit say 75 should be required to sit a practical driving competency assessment…

Out for 15 minutes with an assessor. Not a full test resit just have their driving observed. If they exhibit a lack of practical competency their license suspended, go through the works, medical and resit a full test for reinstatement.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

It's a good idea but I can't see it happening tbh. FF and FG rely heavily on the grey vote and they wouldn't want to implement anything that would put that at risk.

The discrimination certainly existed, the No Irish etc signs existed but not in the numbers Irish activists and popular culture suggest they did. The presence/non presence of signs does not make the discrimination less real. It's not like everyone had camera phones to take snaps of everything back them, developing film was really expensive.

It's more than a love-hate relationship, it's more constant obsession, we're actively looking to dig up old grudges, looking for offense, real or imagined, with "the Brits" more or less oblivious to our presence. The English can never remember, the Irish can never forget.

On Nirvana albums, you're absolutely wrong. Their best albums are those 2 with Dave Grohl on the drums, he's the best musician from all of them and his drumming is what makes Nirvana sound like Nirvana. Which one it's the best it's arguable indeed, for me it's hard to decide.

in terms of solo career, McCartney was quite weird. Some very experimental stuff. I used to think like you as well but my brother got a copy of McCartney II album and it's excellent.

    Take a look at this

He was, by far, the more creative of the 2. Once Lennon got on heroin that was the end of the band. Lennon’s solo work, bar a couple of tracks, is muck. A lot of it demo quality.
