That will be up to the TV broadcasters, Premier and BEIN. I assume RTE are out of EPCR broadcasting this coming season in the same manner as they have dropped the URC

Overall decent kickoff times so far

Cian Treacy mentioned again on the Indo Rugby podcast that they are looking to sign an overseas THP.

We need another player in the position so it should be a priority for all.

Fairly sure there's a ban on overseas front rowers imposed by the IRFU. With that being said, if we can prove to them that we have 1 or 2 in the academy they might allow it

That was said this time last year, but equally Slimani has signed for next year which suggests there may be a softening on that stance.

I really hope so tbh, we're in real need at TH.

True, we do have 3 NIQ's is the only thing that could potentially go against us, might have to cut ties with one of them or loan them to Connacht for a season

    No thats gone now.

    https://www.independent.ie/sport/rugby/six-nations/we-have-to-ensure-the-provinces-close-the-gap-on-leinster-david-humphreys-outlines-strategy-to-fix-irish-rugbys-imbalance/a449631605.html

Last summer, Humphreys floated a ban on overseas props signing for the provinces but he’s shifted his position in the months since, signing off on Dian Bleuler’s short-term move to Munster, and it appears he will sanction an extension to Rabah Slimani’s Leinster stay. Indeed, it appears likely that Slimani and RG Snyman are both in negotiations about prolonging their stays, although it is understood there are restrictions on Leinster playing them ahead of Ireland players. “Those are the conversations you’d have,” he said of signing off on the overseas pair. “You can see the impact that they’ve had, seeing the fact that from a development point of view, you certainly – with the number of players who have played in the national squad, the number of nationally contracted players, they have not been in any way a brake on player development, or young player development. “So I think they have added a huge amount to Leinster this year and those conversations with Leinster and the other provinces around who they are recruiting are ongoing. There has to be a flexibility. “It [the proposed ban] started a conversation, we all recognised that front-row succession was something that Andy Farrell was very concerned about. “Even in the course of the last six months, with someone like Thomas Clarkson coming through, some of the real concerns have eased. “But we’re still very conscious that developing front-row forwards is a huge priority for us. “It’s why Seamus Toomey has been appointed as the scrum development coach to do a lot of that work further down at 16-18 level and underage teams from a technical point of view.

The nature of high performance, yes of course you’re going to set some restrictions and guidelines to give people some parameters in which to work. But as we showed in November, when there’s pressure in a particular province, then Dian Bleuler was allowed to be signed because, from a performance point of view, we had to be flexible and adaptable. That’s very much how I see it.“We are very much committed to developing our own front-row forwards, but as the system evolves and players develop, there’s definitely ongoing conversations.”

Flexibility also extends to the number of overseas signings the provinces can make.“I think if you look back 10 years ago, it was four foreign players and one project player and that was set in stone with no negotiation around that,” Humphreys said.“The provinces have moved a little bit. Some of that is financial pressure they’re under and from an IRFU point of view it’s about making sure that the NIQ players who come in are adding real value in terms of what they can do on the pitch and also the influence and impact they can have on some of the younger players coming through.“At this stage, there’s no set restrictions on who they can and can’t sign.

The IRFU have never had a hard and fast rule on anything and it was silly to pretend otherwise, though I'll put it down to Humphries newly coming into the role.

Murray K is also saying Munster can sign an NIQ TH if they find a suitable player on the article about Ulster signing Angus Bell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,416 ✭✭✭letowski

Yeah Ruaidhri O’Connor mentioned in an article that they were looking to sign the Chiefs starting THP George Dyer, but that might be him just connecting dots with Clayton McMillan. Think he re-signed with them last summer so he may not be available.

I do get the sense that they are looking at recruiting a THP nonetheless. It was unusual last week that when they announced the departing players, that they didn’t mention Roman Salanoa or Darragh McSweeney. Something is definitely going on in the background anyway, they’ve only two senior players contracted at THP.

Positive to see Conor Ryan signed on a development contract - important for players to see AIL as a potential route to pro rugby.

Nothing new here but Munster confirming they're continuing to prepare for the Champions Cup game in Pairc Ui Caoimh. https://www.munsterrugby.ie/2025/05/22/update-champions-cup-in-supervalu-pairc-ui-chaoimh/

It's not a surprise but it has been announced that Murray and POM will play with the Barbarians v SA in June

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,897 ✭✭✭✭Red Silurian

Could very well turn into an annual thing from reading this.

Claiming they listen to fans is a bit rich mind. After every game in Thomond I fill out the survey they email suggesting warm water in the Jack's, and better food/drink offerings. None of which ever happens

I can see PUC being a sellout and a huge success but I can also see a lot of the Limerick base giving up their season tickets on account of this. The overall finances could take a hit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,533 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Have no interest in going to PUC ever again, been there twice and it's an awful stadium.

And this isn't a 'not wanting to travel to Cork' thing as I love going to Musser.

It'd want to be a big match, otherwise I'll keep my match-going powder dry for a different occasion

For the two rugby matches that I've been at there I was happy with my seats and view.

The negatives were the location, no big screen, lack of P&R to the stadium, especially with the road fully closed to traffic. The poor lighting on the approach to/from the stadium and Cork city not ready for post match patrons looking for something to eat after the late kick off.

In saying that I'll go again in December, just hope my Thomond & Musgrave Terrace tickets allows me get a PuC Stand ticket

Current East/West Terrace Season Ticket Holders will be automatically assigned a Category C seat in SuperValu Park and given an option to upgrade ahead of the fixture.

It's unclear where exactly these seats will be located, or indeed if you can pick them before the event or not. If you usually go with friends or family it's not clear if ye will be sitting together for the match either

I'm sure all will be revealed closer the time though

Donk might be bringing a Chiefs Tight head Prop

Looks about right. Few question marks remain and hope of a new THP.

I know sure plenty are cork fans, travels not that difficult

All of Kieran Ryan's Munster appearances have been at Loosehead.

Darragh McSweeney is currently finishing Year 3 in the Academy so if he's not offered a contract, he's gone. I see he's gone on loan to Cornish Pirates until the end of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,346 ✭✭✭Jump_In_Jack

Yeah, question marks around our prop succession planning alright,

McSweeney might be still in with a chance of a fourth year in the academy as he missed a lot of time through injury. Or indeed might get offered a development contract. He has unusual size that must be of interest to the Munster setup.

Kieran Ryan has played both sides at lower levels I think, and his contract announcement stated he is a good scrummager and can play both sides.

Another option is Loughman to switch to tighthead.

I suppose Salanoa and Bartley are linked, if Salanoa is kept on they’d probably let Bartley go.

And the speculation that the new manager might have negotiated to bring in a tighthead, possibly one from his former club.

    It’s all a bit unclear.

Also, no mention of Rory Scannell staying or going, I wonder if there is a doubt about Daly’s injury, or they might want extra cover at 10 within the squad.

Also, do we need another senior hooker? We’ve had 4 usually.

There isn't a fourth year, it's a set three year programme. Munster left Jonathan Wren (I think) repeat his third year but he had missed two full seasons with hamstring injuries. If anything, he'll get a one year development deal. They might do what they don't with Scott Buckley and loan him out.

Salanoa's limp was pretty bad the last I seen him. He hasn't played since the URC final in 2023. They might give him one more year to sort it but I'd be cutting ties at that stage.

I'm not sure what was happening with Bartley. The only announcement was the same time Bleuler signed and it stated for both "Munster Rugby and the IRFU are pleased to confirm the signings of props Conor Bartley and Dian Bleuler on short-term contracts". The last training photo I seen him in was December.

Rory Scannell is likely on peanuts so I could see him get another year.

Hooker wise, I think we're fine with Barron x 2 and Scannell. Sheahan has been in matchday squads already and I could see Clein get game time this season

Bartley was extended to the end of the season. No idea if he impressed enough to get another extension.
