Lidl Track Pump Issue

I have a couple of Lidl or Aldi track pumps that have served me well. The earlier versions with silver chamber didn’t last long but these are the more recent ones maybe about 5 years old.

The problem is that the seal inside the Presta hole in the pump head seems to have moved up toward the exit so that the hole is now much narrower. Not exactly sure what is after happening but I can’t get it mounted onto the valve and I don’t want to brute force it.
I know I could buy a new pump or a new head or more expensive options etc etc but I like to try to fix stuff before I throw it away.

I’ve tried to push the seal back down but it really doesn’t want to move. Has anyone else encountered this and managed to fix it.
