This is actually great for the careers of kneecap. They really aren't very good musicians, I like them because they really wind up a certain section of Irish people.

there may be a video - but they'll claim it's a performance. the movie they made about themselves, from the very start, was billed as 'semi fictionalised'. they've claimed absurdity as part of their act from the very start.

it's one thing the character of Mo Chara doing something, it's another making that allegation stick to Liam O'Hanna.

The British government have been supplying weapons to Israel to mutilate and slaughter men, women and children in Gaza and have provided political cover for genocide but a fella waving a flag is guilty of terrorist offences. Vile hypocrisy but what do you expect from a pig but a grunt

Prince Harry turned up at a fancy dress party in an SS Uniform, did it make him a Nazi?

Kneecap are performers, they all present as characters, almost caricatures, on stage. No way this sticks whether you like them or not.

I'm pretty straight laced, Kneecap are counter culture, but even I can see this will blow up in the faces of the establishment.

If he’s a paid up member of Hamas. That up to 14yrs in Jail.

I thought they would have gone after them for the only good tory is a dead tory comment rather than waving a flag.

I don't like Kneecap, their music or their carry on, and don't agree with their politics either, but the UK are heading on a slippery slope with how they are dealing with free speech. And that should be a worry to both sides of the political fence.

There's a significant changing of the tide in the UK from support for Israel to the denigration of their war council. I say fair dues to kneecap for their support of the Palestinian struggle and their bravery to put their heads above the parapet and call out the Israeli actions as the genocide they are. Silence = complicity.

I'm pretty sure nobody believes he's a member of Hamas... Secondly, this is absolutely gonna backfire on the Brits.

    Absolute joke of a charge.

"allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed organisation"

Whoever is behind this needs to take a walk around East Belfast at the start of July if they're looking for a few easy arrests.

Googling it, I can't find a single case of a person having been jailed in the UK for merely waving a flag in public. It would be a different story if a protestor or agitator showed up a Holocaust memorial or something with the express intention of disrupting the event or causing deep offence to the people present, but the idea that someone could be sent to jail for merely waving a flag in public for a few seconds where nobody who witnessed it was even offended seems utterly bonkers.

Shouting support for Hamas is not supporting the Palestinian people.

The British armed forces have committed far more terrorist acts than anyone else, yet it's not a crime to wave a union jack.

would be interesting to see what would happen if he waved an israeli flag at the next gig, to be able to say in court 'but i waved the flag of a country accused by multiple other countries of genocide; and that's perfectly legal?'

At the end of the day the UK locks people up for mean social media posts. See: Southport riot social media post arrests.

So they need to be consistent. I can bet the Left Wing people will suddenly turn into free speech advocates now.

Will never understand the love for Hezbollah given the countless number of Syrians who will tell you about their collusion with Assad. Goes to show how powerful some Palestinian voices are versus Syrians.

Will there be terrorism charges for people waving UVF flags up north in July? Will there fu5k. Waving a flag does not make you a terrorist. It might make you look like an idiot but not a terrorist.

Find it mad that on this site, an Irish site, the kneecap thread went 1k posts in a few weeks with reams of waffle by people offended by a republican music act opposing genocide.

And it appears it will continue here.

I don't think they understand the complexitys of middle east politics do they think Hamas is the same as the ira do they realize Hamas kill children and any Jewish person is a viable target . .I don't think it should count as a terrorist offence to display a flag .the UK has extreme laws police have questioned people over the contents of a single tweet .

Hes an Irish man I don't think Hamas has a local recruiting office in Ireland to become a member .it's an offence in many country's to support any terrorist organization .students have been deported in the us for supporting Palestinians on social media . the eu is putting pressure on Ireland to pass hate speech laws that are more strict than the laws we have now .

Free speech is.under attack in America colleges who allow anti Israel protests are losing federal funding for research or scholarship programs

Lots of people cheered when the UK locked up people for tweets that incited violence in the riots last summer. When they locked up scumbags inciting the death of others.

I have zero sympathy for these idiots who decided they should be allowed to do the same without reproach.

That subscription to the Hamas newsletter doesn't seem so clever now.

No one is offended at them criticizing Israel, people just pointing out that if you shout support of Hamas you are at best a complete and utter clown and at worst a psycho. No need to re-frame things.

A pop group in Germany has been stopped from performing because they had the flag of Palestine on display . Sometimes anti terror laws can be used to limit free speech

It absolutely is not good for their careers. He will be convicted and probably receive a small fine and possibly a short suspended sentence. The important bit is the conviction, good luck getting a visa for anywhere with a terrorism one.

That's them finished in the States and Australia.

They can tone it down, get a slap on the wrist, and break out the Hamas flag next time they need to get into the news. The trick would be to keep it to fines and not do time. A £500 fine is nothing but a cost of doing business and is well worth the publicity.

I don't think any one should support a terrorist organization that kills children and civilians .I don't think it's legal to send money or donate to a terrorist organization in Europe.
