If you step back and look at it, I think the team are doing well enough all things considered with the coaching upheavel and injuries. Some key players returning now and cup rugby, there's still silverware to play for

A real leader/ captain like performance from Casey tonight, he never let the tempo drop & drove standards.

Milne & Barron for early days look like good signings.

My gut feeling is the last 2 games are our season done with.

Happy to get CC qualification secured.

We've a good few issues to sort & new boss man will take time to bed..post Xmas the earliest.

Casey is heir apparent to POM in terms of leadership, starting niggly scraps to get the crowd up and frustrate the opposition.

Agree, could see him being captain soon.

His placekicking was an unexpected bonus this evening, didn't know he had that in his locker

Anyone who watched the A game would see the future is almost ready to rock. A back five of Edogbo, O'Connell, Foy, Gleeson, Quinn were on display. Absolute animals! Could be up there with Munster's biggest back 5 ever.

How did Edwin Edogbo get on? Did he play many minutes?

He was just too big and too good to be out there. Just another level. He's put on crazy size too. Doing single lock lifts, just throwing guys into the air. Played about 20 minutes.

He's a game changer. Animal in the ruck too, tossing fellas out of it with ease (oooh). Keep him fit next season and it brings a new edge to our pack.

Quinn is another one who surprised me with his size recently when I saw him, looks to have really bulked up. I'd like to see him challenge JOD and Kendellen/Hodnett more next season

Was an entertaining game though ultimately it was two fairly flawed teams though I doubt anyone in Munster is under any apprehensions otherwise. They've produced results when they needed to the last two weeks though and that's all that matters.

Sharks away isn't a bad result. They're the very definition of flaky. Pack will be under severe pressure but Munster aren't really winning by dominating there anyway.

I’m sort of hoping Scarlets could pull off an upset there, we’ve had a couple of very bad trips to Durban in recent years. In terms of pure talent, they’re the second best team in this competition, though admittedly they don’t play to the sum of their parts. I think it’ll be very difficult for Munster to hold up in the scrum down there with that Sharks front row.

We did it, it should never have come down to the wire but it did and we pulled off two bonus points wins in the last two games.

Casey's goal kicking took everyone by surprise and it adds to his bow for Irish selection. He's really come on leaps and bounds in the last season or so. Tho' he was glaringly at fault for one of their tries.

What a game POM had, Coombes too, their workload was immense.Nash was fantastic under the high ball.

Mike Adamson should not be reffing at this level, he's not competent enough.

Knockout rugby can take care of itself, the job over the last two weeks was to get us there and keep us in Champions Rugby next season and that job is done 💪

Must watch it back on Munster Access. But I do feel that the future is bright for Munster. We are stacked with talent and youth in the backs (and JJ as the elder statesman at 10), pack looks strong / powerful, LH and Hooker are in reasonable shape....it's just TH that's a concern.

And the coaching ticket is well shaped for next year. People have criticized Leamy and his defence rightly, but he had us with the strongest defence in the league not so long ago. When the whole system is creaking and stretched each element will weaken.

As I've said, it's now up to this team to build a new culture and identity, and they have a very strong core of young players to deliver. Everything I have read about Clayton is that he drives culture and belief, I'm genuinely excited.

As for this season, after all the upheaval and poor performances I had zero expectations....just hope for next season. So last night sorted that out. Every other game after last night is a bonus.

    Onwards and upwards.

The scrum just before Abrahams try was a big moment in the game. 15-14 to Munster and Treviso had a scrum in the Munster half which they then lost, Munster got a the scrum and it ended up with Abrahams scoring and Munster going 22-14. If Treviso got a reset scrum there I think they would have gone on to win.

I found Pete's lack of self regard in that scrum phenomenal, lots of movement in the scrum and he stretches a leg out to rob the ball.....

Milne and Barron look the real deal. How do leinster keep producing these animals.

Especially impressed with Barron, first in to support Casey for the handbags.

The 2 boys are here to play and not for an easy paycheck.

Glasgow would be a better option for fans given all the French travel.

    Sharks it is!

If we beat the sharks would it be Leinster in semi no?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,416 ✭✭✭letowski

No, they are on the other side. Winners of the Munster/Sharks play Bulls/Edinburgh.

Sharks didn't look great today against the Scarlets. Tough game, but we could do it.

I've been feeling this over the last few weeks despite the losses. There's a very good squad and management being assembled bit by bit. Tighthead as you say is an issue but that's nationwide so it looks like a couple of the younger guys will need to be put on an accelerated path. Unfortunately it's not a position where fastracking is often successful. Young prospects in that space often flatter to decieve if they fail to develop physically or fail to grasp the subtleties if the job.

All in all, a lot to be hopeful about.

With the delay in appointing a new head coach this year turned into getting enough results to stay in Europe, anything that happens in the knockout games will be a bonus.

The hope for Munster fans is that Clayton will be a success and hangs around long enough to add some stability.

While this season isn't over yet and I'd have loved if POM & Murray hung around for one more year with the new head coach I'm really looking forward to next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 5,387 ✭✭✭budhabob

I'm probably in a minority, but I believe is time for Murray and POM to move on. Are they still capable of playing to a high standard - without a doubt! But they are the most influential players in the squad, have been regularly the focus of "player movements/feedback" etc. Munster need to move on, no more links to days of folklore, start to create their own history.

Time for the team to show up or shut up.…next season.

Anything this year as you say is a bonus as little was expected.

I'd forgotten how big of a unit Edogbo is.…hope he never gets a label like "Big Joe"🙄

I can see where you're coming from and wouldn't hugely disagree with you on it but leadership isn't easily thought either. We've seen both Casey & Jack stepping into a leadership role too on and off the field so maybe as you say, it's time to start the next bit of history for Munster.

I love a bossy halfback, with Casey & Crowley we have two.

He looks bigger but actually trimmer if that makes sense.

I still say if we were challenge cup next year we might be more capable of getting further in the competition and potentially even going as far as winning silverware.

Far better for player mentality than scraping out of a pool and getting our asses handed to us in a quarter final

Always glass half empty! Cheer up!

Winners want to be in top flight competition not fighting over plastic cups!
